Food was great, service was good. It was a little slow but in all fairness it was St Patrick’s day and things were busy. It was extremely loud ( the guy sitting behind us was obnoxious as all get out. Overall it wasn’t that bad.
Cozy neighborhood spot. Looks like they have a lot of regulars. We had four kids and four adults. Everything went off smoothly. Food was great. This is a place we dine when in Va Bch.
I have been a patron of Zia Marie, since their opening. We live in the neighborhood and eat at the restaurant 6-8 times a year. We order take out from Zia’s at least 15 times a year. Sat. Night the food was exceptional. I have a pear and pomegranate salad, which was very generous as well as the eggplant and fresh tomato sauce with ricotta pasta. This dish was so good, I hope they put it on the chalkboard. We had our regular waitress, who is fantastic.
The food and service was amazing. Best Italian in va bch.
You can usually tell a restaurant is going to be good when you open the outside door and are met with wonderful aromas of Italian cuisine! I’m physically disabled and had no problem getting in or getting to our table with my walker. They have a big wine list and a menu of martinis, too. I had a Bellinitini with Orange infused Absolut vodka, peach schnapps, and champagne-delicious. I had the fried mozzarella for an appetizer(it was HUGE), and the lasagna for my entree. Everything was delicious and we had a great experience. Highly recommend Zia Marie!
We live out of town but have family here and always try dine at least once at Zia Maria’s. Everyone loves it!
i have been enjoying zia's for many years. You can always count on the food being good, and decent service. And now that the offer reservations we don't have to worry about being disappointed at the door when they are at full capacity, which happens a lot.
The NY strip is a hidden gem in this Italian restaurant. Thick, perfectly grilled, and so big I took half of it home.
Too loud everything else very good
Andate con la fame!😜
Perché le porzioni sono esattamente generose!!!
As always the food was great and the service wonderful. My daughter was in town from college and she requested we go!
We determined over dinner that we hadn’t been here in fours year, happy to say not all traditions die, everything was fantastic, not rushed, great food, I won’t wait four years to come again!
The service was ok. The food was great. The drinks could have been better.
Me and my wife love this place, we do dislike a few things but we still go when we want good Italian food. The big thing is the noise, as it’s very loud inside maybe because it’s a small place. I would rather hav a menu to look at then looking at the wall across the room to decide what to eat. We will be back but that’s just my critique.
Always good food in a casual setting. Never been diappointed in the food or service, and a decent well priced wine list.
It had been several years since our last visit. I was happy to find the restaurant is consistently excellent. The food was exquisite and our server Heather was outstanding. We had a reservation for the occasion and our table next to the fireplace was waiting for us. A+
I have been a customer of Zia Marie for at least 20 years and I will not go back after my visit tonight. I ordered a second glass of wine (they serve wine in stemless glasses vs. stemmed, so if something is lurking in the bottom, you don't notice it right away), and after the third sip, a chunk of something was in my mouth. I looked in the glass and the whole bottom of the wine glass was full of pieces of something black and tan. When the waitress finally came to the table to check on us, our meal was finished by then, I pointed out the debris in my glass and she said it looked like mushroom, which it did. She asked me if I wanted another glass and I said no because our meal was finished. When she brought the check, she said took off half the price of the second glass of wine because the bartender told her it was a new bottle of wine and the substance in my glass was just cork. Seriously? I guess all that cork can sink to the bottom, but when I've had a piece of cork in my wine before, it was usually just a piece or two and it floated. This was disgusting...the whole bottom of the glass was full of particles of something. Food is always good, but this was just unprofessional service...charging someone for a half a drink because it took them three sips to realize it had trash of some sort in it. Hope it was worth it.
We lived just a block away from this cozy neighborhood restaurant for years and have always enjoyed meals here. If you're looking for a quiet dinner, this is probably not the place for you, as it is a little noisy when they're busy. The service can be hit or miss, but on this evening, everything was great, from food, to service, to ambiance.
SO good!!! The shrimp alla vodka and seafood stuffed shells were to die for. The table behind us seemed drunk and loud! Otherwise perfect spot!!!
Our go to place for Friday date night!
Loved it. Great food, friendly staff. One of my favorite places to eat.
I've been going here for 20 years. It is always good, sometimes outstanding. I get the same thing most of the time. Chicken Marie. It is always a little different. Same with lasagna and everything else the group had. The pizza is outstanding.
The food is absolutely awesome, but they will make whatever changes you want. The service is always wonderful. It's a cozy, but noisy place, with a very inviting atmosphere. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting excellent Italian food.
We were celebrating our anniversary. They sat us next to the fire place, which was very romantic. I had the spinach lasagna, which was huge. My husband had a salad which also was generous in size.
I have to admit my wife and I could not have been more disappointed. The food was beyond good but the service was abysmal which in part may have been due the difficulty in getting staff to work on New Year’s Eve. The crowded feel had to be due to maximizing the number of tables that could be squeezed into a limited space. We unfortunately have no intention of ever going back.
Our server seemed to be very swamped with tables and a bit lacking in friendliness.
This was the same situation as last New Years. :(
We will still recommend your eatery to our friends as the food was awesome!
Thanks and have a super new year.
Zia Marie is one of our favorite restaurants. It is a great place for us to take our family for a get together. Always good food and great service!
This place always delivers! They have fantastic Italian cuisine for the traditional and the cutting edge.
Just like (someone's) grandma used to make!
Food was nothing special. I got chicken Marsala and the chicken was not bad but the pasta was very dry. The service was slow and several people in our group had to repeat requests several times.
Our Christmas Eve Family Tradition! Great food, amazing how many friends we see every year!
I was thankful that we had a reservation for a Saturday night right before Christmas. We did get to a table within a few minutes of our reservation, but it was busy! It had been a few years since I had been, and only the size of the fried cheese had gotten smaller- everything else was the same, which is great. Very classic pasta dishes and good portion sizes. Everyone with the wait staff was busy, but our water glasses were usually filled and food came out hot.
Our first time dining at Zia Marie. We had a nice table by the fireplace, food and service was excellent. It was a little loud.
Food was great as usual, service a tad slow due to the holidays;I’m sure.
Would definitely recommend, it is Local restaurant that has many frequent return customers!
FOOD WAS EXCELLENT! WE HAD ENORMOUS GARDEN SALADS ! EGGPLANT PARMESAN WAS LARGE PORTION WITH SIDE OF SPAGHETTI. VEAL MARSALA WAS VERY FLAVORFUL, BEST I HAVE HAD IN VIRGINIA!
ONLY PROBLEM WAS THE NOISE FACTOR. SO LOUD NONE OF US COULD TALK! MAYBE IS THEY HAD PIANO MUSIC WOULD SOOTHE PEOPLE TO NOT TALK SO LOUD! THOUGHT WE WERE IN A LOUD BAR!
Only our second time dining at zita maries just as good as the first time. We made a reservation for 7pm. As busy as it was our waitress was quick and polite. Food was amazing as always. This Will be the go to spot for future occasions. Prices were not bad and worth it for the food. The only complaint that I have is not the restaurant it self but the lack of parking in the parking lot.
Been here several times. The food is awesome. I did, however, have a small issue with this visit. I ordered the Shrimp Fra Diablo. Was half way into it and I bit into a large piece of a clam shell. No damage to teeth, thank goodness. Notified the waitress. She went to the chef who sent his apologies and they said my meal was complimentary. I know this was an isolated incident and I will definitely go back.
We have gone to Zia Marie’s several times over the years. The food is consistently good but this time I tried something new for me... veal piccata. The serving was plentiful but I found the lemon sauce very salty and the pasta dry. The other person in my party got to spinach lasagna and really enjoyed it. Next time I will go back to entries with a red sauce. Unfortunately the evening was almost spoiled because the restaurant was oppressively hot. We finally convinced the waitress to turn off the fireplace (it was 64 degrees outside) and by the time we ate it had begun to cool slightly. I will go back but will be prepared to ask for my food to go in case it is like that again.
The food was great and the service was outstanding
Excellent. Out favorite Italian restaurant in Virginia Bach.
Use Zia's as a regular dining place -- it is local, vibrant and always good.
