About Zia Marie
Over a decade ago we were inspired to create a restaurant that welcomes, entertains and nourishes our customers the Italian way, like family. Known to the locals as Zia's, this quaint neighborhood restaurant is located just blocks from the Chesapeake Bay, nestled in the heart of Chic's Beach. Specializing in authentic Italian cuisine, the chalkboard menu features an array of flavorful chicken, veal, beef and seafood dishes made with the freshest ingredients. Weekly additions of seasonal fair, featured wines, and homemade desserts bolster more traditional menu selections. FOOD WAS EXCELLENT! WE HAD ENORMOUS GARDEN SALADS ! EGGPLANT PARMESAN WAS LARGE PORTION WITH SIDE OF SPAGHETTI. VEAL MARSALA WAS VERY FLAVORFUL, BEST I HAVE HAD IN VIRGINIA!
ONLY PROBLEM WAS THE NOISE FACTOR. SO LOUD NONE OF US COULD TALK! MAYBE IS THEY HAD PIANO MUSIC WOULD SOOTHE PEOPLE TO NOT TALK SO LOUD! THOUGHT WE WERE IN A LOUD BAR!
Only our second time dining at zita maries just as good as the first time. We made a reservation for 7pm. As busy as it was our waitress was quick and polite. Food was amazing as always. This Will be the go to spot for future occasions. Prices were not bad and worth it for the food. The only complaint that I have is not the restaurant it self but the lack of parking in the parking lot.
Been here several times. The food is awesome. I did, however, have a small issue with this visit. I ordered the Shrimp Fra Diablo. Was half way into it and I bit into a large piece of a clam shell. No damage to teeth, thank goodness. Notified the waitress. She went to the chef who sent his apologies and they said my meal was complimentary. I know this was an isolated incident and I will definitely go back.
We have gone to Zia Marie’s several times over the years. The food is consistently good but this time I tried something new for me... veal piccata. The serving was plentiful but I found the lemon sauce very salty and the pasta dry. The other person in my party got to spinach lasagna and really enjoyed it. Next time I will go back to entries with a red sauce. Unfortunately the evening was almost spoiled because the restaurant was oppressively hot. We finally convinced the waitress to turn off the fireplace (it was 64 degrees outside) and by the time we ate it had begun to cool slightly. I will go back but will be prepared to ask for my food to go in case it is like that again.
We went here for a birthday dinner on a recommendation from a friend. We found the food to be excellent, the service was attentive. The meal was well paced (all the food didn't come out at once which is a nice change from chain restaruants). The portions are pretty huge, definitly enough to save part for lunch the next day! The cheesecake is made in house and excellent (this from a non-cheesecake person). In short, we will add this to our rotation.
Food was good, but “very very” loud. I had to lean across the table just to talk to my girlfriend. And I don’t feel like saying “what “ all the time when we’re talking. And there was plenty of tables open, wasn’t that many people there. I couldn’t imagine if you guys were full.
We went for our anniversary and had requested a quiet table. They were aware of our request and put us in a back corner. Unfortunately a table of about 6 on the other side of the restaurant was so loud we could hardly hear each other. Even after they finished, they stood around yelling to each other. It appeared that they had some connection to the restaurant and it surprised me they didn't show more consideration for other diners. This is our third and last time to the restaurant as each time it has been uncomfortably loud. The food was delicious so if you're into a loud venue, don't hesitate to book.
Prices were higher then what was listed on their website. The place is tiny and way too many tables squeezed close together so it is very loud. Our waitress never checked back after delivering our meals, we never had water refilled until table was cleared. Food was good but We wouldnt visit again on a sunday evening during summer months.
I've been to this place at least 100 times over the last 18 years. My favorite dish is the Chicken Marie. It's always a little different each time. Sometimes a lot of garlic, sometimes a little. Just right tonight. Lasagna was cheesy as usual. Bread is always awesome. Portions are more than generous.
One of our favorite places for Italian food. Veal Parm is always tender and delicious. One of our party had the steak which was huge, yummy, and cooked to perfection! The noise level can be hard to handle on some evenings which is why we try to go early in the evening!
I had eaten at Zia Marie's a long while back and really enjoyed it. However, this outing was not as good. The scallops were overcooked (rubbery), and the steak was tough and full of gristle. I was a little disappointed. The Eggplant Parmesan was pretty good, but it was not Zia Marie's best.
A neighborhood place that is energetic. leftovers. This is a local restaurant with restricted parking. It is extremely noisy and it is difficult to have a conversation at the table without raising your to hear each other.
Food tasty Italian, portions large enough for take-home. Service friendly and attentive.
It was my second visit although the food was good it appeared that our server was stretched as she struggled with maintaining the table. Also the restaurant just appeared dirty. The carpet was sticky on my shoes, there were stains on the napkins and if you looked around the salt and pepper shakers were empty. We enjoyed the food which was the main thing and will be back. My suggestion would be to add daily checklists to the operation and ensure the manager/owner reconciles daily.
