V. Mertz is locally-owned, and we pride ourselves in offering artisan products and cheeses, organically-grown local produce and Wagyu beef, and sustainably-farmed and line-caught seafood. V.Mertz Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food! The chefs here pride themselves on delicious, unique combinations that you don’t know you’ll love until the first bite and leaving you satisfied with the last. The service is normally top notch, and, whether it’s your first time at a more upscale restaurant or not, they will go the extra mile to ensure you’re experience is phenomenal.
My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and wanted a special night out. V. Mertz provided the meals, service and setting to help make our celebration memorable. From our entry to the restaurant until the moment we left the staff was fully present for us without being overbearing. We will remember and look forward more special occasions!
Stunning evening out. It had been more than 20 years since my last visit as I have moved from NE. V. Mertz didn’t disappoint and the experience was as special as I remember back in the day. Food and wine were top notch. I would recommend this experience to absolutely everyone. A special evening that is unique to Omaha and a true gem.
Wonderful atmosphere! Great yet unique menu! We went for a double date and we had a wonderful time. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated after our name was given. Our coats were taken away and drink menus were promptly given. The dinner menu was very unique and delicious! The deserts were delectable! I would highly recommend! Just be willing to spend a little more!
My steak was awful. I ordered the most expensive steak and it was tough! The meal selection, including dessert, was much too limited! Let's just say, the food did not set well with me at all! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone! Terribly over-priced for what you get!
It’s been a while since we had been to V Mertz. It has always been good but very pricy for Omaha. We were pleasantly surprised that prices were much more in line with other upscale dining in Omaha. The charcuterie board and artisanal cheeses were excellent, as were the other small plates. The entrees were good, but a little off from the outstanding small plates. All in all, a great special occasion place.
Went for our wedding anniversary. No acknowledgement or warm welcome. While the waiter was knowledgeable, not welcoming. It was our first time there and no one asked if it was our first or special occasion. Not very busy on a Tuesday night and it seemed that the servers were disinterested. Sat us next to a large party. No romantic ambiance. Took quite a long time to get our wine or be acknowledged by the waiter. Food was good, but too salty. We were disappointed after hearing great things about the restaurant. I would not go back for a while. Other places in town seem to value their customers more.
Great experience! My wife and I went to V. Mertz for our anniversary. Fantastic service, exquisite food. I had the wagyu ny strip, my wife had a shoulder beef cut that was all very tasty. Good portions, maneagable and a great experience. The only downside was some douchebag at another table who could not use an “inside voice”. To be fair, it was not V. Mertz’s issue. I would go back to V. Mertz in a minute.
They rank five stars in all three important categories of fine dining. Food, service and ambiance. If I am ever back in Omaha I will certainly try to fit them in our schedule. Also, they provided an important thing we were looking for, they emphasize locally grown and raised items on their menu.
