Victor Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Excellent service within a gem of a hotel, close to Second City and theatres. Loved the ambiance too. Really cute date spot. And big enough for a large group.
I liked our dishes -- Big Vic burger and the scallops, but would have enjoyed them more with half the salt.
We had a wonderful family meal in Christmas Eve. It was quiet, the wine list is fabulous, and the food and service were well received. This is an excellent spot, and quiet, so that you can actually have a conversation with your guests. This is distessingly rare now.
Nice quiet dining atmosphere despite the fact there is a very large screen tv behind the bar and a parking lot right across the street. The menu was small but had a very good variety. We all enjoyed our entrees- steak frites, scallops and pork loin chop and shared the trio of desserts with lemon cheesecake and an excellent butter tart. Would be good for drinks and business dinners and they charge for $25 corkage.
Third time I brought a business group and each time my group was very satisfied. In my group we had a gluten free diet requirement, the server was very attentive to her needs and was very knowledgeable regarding the menu. My company bean counters will be happy that the cost per person was under $65 (pre tax and tip). I'll be back.
A romantic spot tucked away off Bay St. A great continental menu offered Ng something for everyone, including pasta, seafood, vegetarian and of course the carnivores amongst us. My husband and I shared the Tuna and Shrimp Ceviche. Avery generous appetizer that I couldn't get enough of. My entree was I the evening special, a strip lion with frites. Prepared perfectly, best fries I've had. I would however have like the meal to include a vegetable to complete the meal. My husband had the scallops. These too were delicious and perfectly prepared. We finished the evening with the chef sampler desserts since we couldn't decide which to get.
The staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. They helped us select a nice wine and even allowed us to sample a couple before we settled on one.
Not an inexpensive evening but definitely felt that we got our monies worth.
Note: Open Table indicates that They offer No Corkage Fees on Sunday. This is an old promo and no longer in effect. Can't comment on the other specials noted but always best to check first.
We had dinner pre-theatre. Lovely decor and quiet atmosphere. Great service. The food was superb, we LOVED the caesar salad, and had the panko crusted lake trout and frites which was delicious. Cheesecake was yummy, not too sweet. We would definitely return to Victor!
This is a beautiful restaurant and the food was pretty good. The server didn't offer us a drink after we sat down. We had to prompt him to take our drink order and had to ask if there were any specials. The service was below average and I was embarrassed by this considering it was my recommendation to have a dinner meeting at this restaurant. We felt ignored.
Chose this place based on Open Table and Yelp reviews. When we got there it was in a hotel which made us all question whether it was really going to be good. We were all pleasantly surprised. We had the grilled calamari appetizer which was outstanding. The calamari were tender and the flavor from the grilling was great. I had the scallops and they were cooked perfectly. My companions had the lamb and they said it was delicious. Everything was presented beautifully. Definitely recommend!
Great spot for dinner before concerts at Roy Thomson Hall, just a few blocks away. Service was extremely courteous and helpful . Loved the Happy Hour Sangria. Enjoyed all our courses. Location is somewhat tucked away on Mercer Street so suspect it doesn't get much walk by business .....worth walking to.
I was a bit taken back with the limit menu but when digging into each of the items it became obvious that each was a tasty work of art. I had the seared scallops with the lentils (not currently showing on their website menu). This was the best meal I had in my 4 days of travel in downtown Toronto. And the service was great!
Victor, is a pleasant underutilized restaurant in the St. Germain Hotel.
we were greeted warmly and were provided with outstanding service. We were on our way to a play and slightly late because of traffic, however the staff ensured we got everything in plenty of time and we were never rushed.
The food was excellent. A nice little place if you want something away from the main King Street Strip in the Entertainment District.
Had wine, cheese board, oysters, roasted brazino and pork chop. Girlfriend didn't enjoy the fish too much but I thought the pork chop with brussel sprouts was great. Decent Happy Hour deals as well. Complementary sparkling water was a first and balanced out the couple of order mistakes.
Our group of five dined at the Victor on Thursday, April 28. We were late for our reservation, having come from out of town, but it was not even mentioned. The wait staff ensured us that we would still be able to make it to our 8:00 show. Everyone loved their food which ranged from poutine to scallops (cooked perfectly). The staff were very attentive and friendly. Our service was efficient but felt personable. The Victor wine from California was greatly appreciated and a real treat. I thought the prices were very reasonable for what was presented on the plate. A great choice as even the picky eaters in my group were happy. It was great to be able to reserve on line.
Found this restaurant on open table while looking fro a new venue to meet some friends at. Saw the 5 star rating and thought why not lets try it. A small place which surprised us they had seating for 7 people but a great atmosphere and vibe and clearly not many people know about this hidden gem. Very friendly staff inside the St Germain Hotel on Mercer. Love the selection of cocktails and the food was fantastic. Literally booked the table and walked down the street. Had to wait about 5 min to get the table set up. Food was great with lots of selection. I would totally go back for more!
We got to the restaurants at 630 for dinner before a show at 8. The theatre is a 3 min walk so we figured 1.5 hours would be more than enough time. Sadly it wasn't. Took about 45 mins to get our food so we just asked them to give it to us in to go containers instead. Even more sadly, no one seemed to care we were in a rush.
My friend was visiting from out of town and she researched restaurants around Second City. She found Victor at Hotel Le Germain. I was quite skeptical at first, having dined in many restaurants with foodie sounding menus, yet deliver subpar results.
Victor was an exception. Friendly, genuine service from checking in, sitting at the bar for a drink, and then for dinner. Server sat my friend and I at a nice quiet table at the back, and gave very genuinely (instead of forced smile) professional service. Bar tender made wonderful cocktails.
I returned about 20 minutes after I left because I thought I forgot my phone. Our kind server, immediately upon seeing me, asked what I needed and upon telling her i lost my phone, she ran over to our table to help me look for it.
Oh! I guess I should mention the food! Excellent. I had the ribeye with garlic butter and truffled mash potatoes. Melt in your mouth, lots of flavor. Best steak i have had for a verrrry long time. My friend had bone in porkchop and celeriac she was yumming the whole way. Shared a reasonably priced and very nice bottle Pinot Grigio .
All in all a lovely experience for two friends to catch up. Can't wait to return with my husband.
