Vera Mae's hosts special events such as musical and theatrical presentations, community and educational programs, wine tastings and much more. We have enjoyed acts such as Jazz greats Diane Reeves, Carole King, and Jackie Allen, New York Voices and Ball State University Theatre and Dance students. We proudly offer live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights featuring the talents of pianists Jim Burcaw and Phil Cooley.

Vera Mae's offers both on site and off premise catering as well as delivery and pick up. We offer a wide variety of hors d'oeuvres intended for both large and small gatherings; as well as, entrées designed to hold up to the demands of off premise service--all with a concentration on presentation and flavor.
Private Party Facilities:
Located in the lower level of the restaurant, overlooking the wine cellar, the Boardroom offers a completely private dining atmosphere for up to 40 guests. This intimate space is well suited for business presentations and small conferences as well as warm gatherings of friends and family.

We have had better food at Vera Mae; this evening crusted cod was burned/dry on the ends. The rice average, and the green veggie atop the rice did not appear real and had no taste. The flavored tea was not quality. We have had better quality food at Ruby Tuesday, Olive Garden, and
Red Lobster. Our friend from Mercer Island, Washington, was overly impressed, though her salad was better than our cod. The host, however, was pleasant. We have had much better dinners at Vera Maes on other occasions.

We went to Vera Mae's for the first time to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Everything on the menu sounded fabulous, but the reality of the meal was only mediocre. There were four of us and we each ordered something different, but every meal was served with polenta and creamed spinach which accounted for 2/3 of the plate. There was no choice for the starch and vegetable, that is what was served. We all felt that the main dish was good, not great. Very over priced for the quality and quantity of the meal. The seating with a reservation and service were both very good. However, we won't be returning.

One of us had had a big lunch and was not very hungry. A delicious shrimp cocktail was selected along with the French onion soup. I had had no lunch so was looking for a little more. The raspberry brie chicken was perfect especially with the great couscous of the evening. We both were very happy with our choices.

This was my 1st time to Vera Mae's and by judging by my overall experience it won't be the last. I actually found out about Vera Mae's via Open Table and even though it was almost an hour drive from my house it was well worth it! While the service was excellent and the staff very friendly and engaging, it was the food that set it apart for me. I started with the Crawfish Nachos, then had the Chicken Tortilla Soup followed by the Porterhouse Pork Chop and finished it off with the bread breading! I can honestly say every part of my meal was excellent (including the hot rolls)! After just 1 visit it is already in my top 3 places to eat at in Indiana!

Casey B was fantastic great service, wonderful recommendations. However for 36$ Each our filets should have bee perfect and unfortunately they were extremely overlooked two times. On the second time we just decided to eat them. They took one of them off our bill which was gracious however spending well over 100$ I feel like they should have done more to take care of it. Great time just very unfortunate in regards to the major disappointment in the steaks.

This was supposed to be a fine dining establishment. The only thing that suggested it was fine dining were the prices. The "salad" was literally just leaves on a plate. McDonald s has better salads than what was presented to me. Our bread was just two rolls, they were good, but we only got one each. Other fine dining establishments give you a whole loaf. Our sides for the steaks we ordered, was some sort of Cajun rice, and some awful looking brussel sprouts. Our steaks were good though, but when our bill is $86, everything given to us should have been fantastic. Next time I'll just listen to my husband and go to Texas Roadhouse. At least when we leave there, we don't leave hungry. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

We were very disappointed that Vera Mae's would not accept our Indiana Public Radio membercard. I contacted IPR, and was told that they have approached Vera Mae's several times, and VM's would not offer a "freebie" to holders of the IPR membercard.

LOVED Vera Mae's, wonderful birthday evening! The staff was so friendly, the food was superb!! The menu had a great selection of such a variety of choices. We were happy that many menu selections were very different than most restaurants. We will DEFINITELY be going back and recommending it.

Vera Mae's in Muncie IN demonstrates elegance. Interesting artwork with some pieces from Indiana and local artists. Melodious piano music typically starts at 7pm on weekend nights. Food: From steaks, fish, and chicken dishes to baked brie and escargot, the food has a French flavor filled with exceptional deliciousness.
Reservations: When I made reservations via Open Table (at 4am one morning), my choice was 5:30 pm OR 9pm. Was a tad off. The restaurant had been packed the night before due to summer graduations at the local university. But on the 7-23, there were numerous opportunity for reservations all night. We like to eat early, so the 5:30 was not a big deal. I did, however, tell the owners of the times available on open table.
Otherwise our experience with family was terrific.

Vera Maes is my go to restaurant when visiting Muncie. The food is always good and I love the atmosphere, service, etc. I rated the food as a 3 star instead of 4 due to the saltiness of the kale

Took a client from out of town to Vera Mae's. The meal was excellent. And it was great to meet both owners, who personally stopped by the table to see how we were doing. Definitely one of the top restaurants in Muncie - you can't go wrong here.
Special Occasion Place
We enjoy going to Vera Mae's for special occasions. The price prohibits us from going more often. Three of the four of us really enjoyed our food. The raspberry Brie chicken was great as were the veggies and couscous that came with it. The fried cod was also a hit. The linguini dish was not a favorite. It seemed to be very light on sauce so was dry. We'd have liked a bit more dressing to proportion it with the size of the salad. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would definitely return for another special occasion.
Excellent service and delicious food
Our waiter was Roberto. He was fantastic. We are vegetarian plus I cannot eat tomatoes. He was able to guide us in our menu choices. He new the menu and was able to help us select items that fit our diet restrictions and were delicious. My only suggestion is that you include more vegetarian items. Maybe an Alfredo pasta dish.
Vera Mae's is undoubtedly the finest dining in Muncie. The service was top notch, the staff welcoming, the food good, full bar, soft music, a great overall atmosphere. A little pricey, but, that's par for the course these days in a fine dining establishment. All in all a very nice special occasion location.
Great find in Muncie
My husband and I prefer restaurants that have "different" menus. This would qualify. We had boned quail stuffed with jambalaya and scallops with bacon gravy over grits. Both portions were generous (2 quail, several large sea scallops, both entrees served with asparagus and house salad or soup) and well prepared. The owners were walking around to make sure all of the customers were taken care of and pitched in to remove plates and deliver meals when needed, just to keep things flowing. It was a pleasant meal and a welcome addition to a last minute business trip. I would definitely dine there again.
ordered beef med rare, came 1 side charred and well done, other was medium at best, fingerling potatoes seemed like yesterdays rewarmed, very dried out!! did love the salad however!!! and desert was good...wife had sea scallops..came on a very thick bed of grits, drizzled in bacon grease..not appetizing! also had potatoes..both came with a side of fried cabbage..wouldnt go again.
