Overpriced steak lacking the basics is not worth the effort. Calling itself a "steakhouse" is not cover for only a chunk of meat without garnish. Everything is a-la-carte at this hotel restaurant. A $21. valet parking fee should be a clue to this operation. Even on a business expense account entertaining a picky client could not bring me to return. Did the food taste good? The salad, yes. The steak, only OK. The sides, only average. The service was good but not worth a return.

The service was really slow - we waited 30 minutes to have our drinks order taken. There were lots of staff but no-one able to serve us. It then took a long time for our food to come. The food was fine but not worth the wait. Slightly weird setting in an upstairs internal atrium of a hotel. Lacking in atmosphere, felt like a hotel lobby.

The hot water for my tea came from a coffee maker which made my tea taste disgusting. Parking was difficult because it has none and is located in a hotel building on the transit mall which means there is no street parking either. Prices were high for the quality of food.

We really loved our brunch at Urban Farmer. The restaurant was very accommodating to our party of 8, including 7 who has just completed the Portland Marathon and were slightly late with the scheduled reservation time (as expected after running all those miles!!)The hostess was quite friendly once we did arrive and our server was very patient with menu questions and alterations. The ambience was great for our group, very relaxed, using set at the right volume and we never felt rushed. My meal -the crabmeat omelette -was so delicious. Yum!! Everyone enjoyed themselves and we'll definitely visit again.

It was a lovely experience, except for the incredibly grumpy bus boy who clanked the pitcher of water against our glasses each time he refilled them and acted as if he could not be bothered to remove our plates! Food delicious!

Our server David was very good and friendly towards us. We would ask for him next time. My steak tasting meal was excellent. It was interesting to taste three types of steak side-by-side. (The corn-fed won.) Unfortunately my wife's wagu was tough. She only ate a few bites and when David returned we sent it back. We had plenty of appetizers and a very good heirloom tomato salad so she declined a replacement. This was handled in a very considerate, friendly manner and was taken care of on the bill so we left happy. We will return.

Uninventive menu, overpriced, poorly prepared. While known as being a steakhouse, steak requested medium rare arrived medium well. While the decor and wine list were average to above average, it would not be a restaurant we would recommend or dine again.

If you are an international traveller visiting Portland, skip this place. When ordering a glass of wine to go with a $75 steak, they refused to accept my boyfriend's UK driver's license as a valid form of identification and said they would need to see a passport. Interesting, since he had already been in Portland for over a week, using the same ID to purchase wine at grocery stores and order drinks at various bars and restaurants. He even rented a car using it! Keep in mind that the restaurant is located in The Nines hotel in downtown Portland, and the sidewalks directly outside have homeless people on nearly every corner, and they suggest that international diners carry their passport on them? Ridiculous. Needless to say, we were not about to each order a $75 steak if we couldn't enjoy a glass of red wine with it. I called Portland City Grill from the table and they had a table ready for us in the 10 minutes it took us to walk there - complete with the hospitality, service, and kindness you would expect from a restaurant in this price range. My suggestion? Skip Urban Farmer and go for a restaurant where you will be treated with more respect.

Our appetizers and entrees took longer than expected, but the manager came over to apologize and comped the appetizer and a dessert. I feel like that went above and beyond and just showed us what class this establishment has to ensure that your dining experience is a positive one.

We were treated phenomenally, it was our Anniversary and they sent a delicious cheese plate to us while we were enjoying a pre dinner cocktail at the bar. Our dessert had a personal anniversary message written in chocolate. The cocktails were original and excellent and the dinner was fantastic. Will definitely return in the future.

Awesome and innovative good combo, absolutely delicious! We took my mom for brunch and had a nice large booth. They serve great coffee and really good food. The portions are large, the Benedict could be shared. I ate the shrimp and grits with pulled pork and this delicious gravy. Sounds like strange combo but was perfect. Service was good, ambiance is bright and lively. Loved it!

I ordered a petite fillet steak. I ordered it cooked rare. It was a very poor cut of steak - so tough I couldn't eat 1/2 of it - nor did I want to. For the price of this meal, I was very disappointed. I had eaten here once before and remembered a fine dining experience. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience this time. Martini was excellent. My wife had a salmon dish that was very good as was a side dish we shared. Hope this was a one off.

Dustin was our waiter and he is one of the best I have had in my many years of dining out. He knew the different menu items, ingredients and gave us excellent service. I will tell clients to make reservations and ask to be seated at his table/booth.

We enjoyed a family gathering there in celebration of a birthday and had one of the best dinners any of us has ever experienced. We've already made reservations to bring more of our family during the holidays and will be back often. We highly recommend it to locals and visitors alike.

This was one of the worst meals/restaurants we have eaten in Portland. The service was terrible, it took forever to get a beer and then when I finally did get a beer there was a fly in it. My wife had a hair in her food too. We will not be going back to Urban Farmer.

Altogether great experience. Service was wonderful, enjoyed their cheese and wine selection. The only aspect that bothered me was my main entree. I ordered the salmon and it came out extremely salty, I also thought the mushroom side was bland. Potato side was amazing!
For the price of the entree, I would say not worth it. I have gone to places who have served better salmon for much less. I would definitely go back for drinks and maybe some appetizers!

We had a disappointing experience here over the weekend. We waited over 30 min to be seated & steak ordered medium well was served rare. It was re-served equally rare & at that point we gave up. The manager was extremely embarrassed about our experience & did not bring us a check. Despite efforts to rectify our evening, under-cooking steak twice doesn't encourage us to visit here again.

The food was OK but not entirely worth the price. The sides were nothing special and the steak was just a steak. I'd go back just because the ambiance of the place makes for an awesome date location. Our server was great though and offered a wonderful dinning experience.

Came to the restaurant with high hopes as I had heard great things. I ended up with a disappointing experience. The wait staff did not seem to have any energy or real pride in what they were serving. I ordered the bone in ribeye medium rare. The steak was not cut well (not the same thickness throughout). This led to the edge being overcooked, the center being jus right, and the portion near the bone almost raw. Mushroom side had a strange flavor like rubbing alcohol about every third bite. A bright spot was the bartender. My drinks were well prepared and expertly presented. I likely won't be back as I am from out of state and need a more predictably good dining experience for the money. Also, I can heartily recommend the cornbread that is served prior to the meal. Very well prepared.

We were impressed from the moment we arrived. The hostess greeted us exactly how a hostess should, happy to see us, engaging, took us to a quiet table for our anniversary. Our waiter was passionate and helped us decide on the perfect meal. Our food was amazing, great steak, great sides. We were extremely pleased with our anniversary dinner choice.

My server insults my girlfriend unintentionally(I'm pretty sure) about the the amount of food she was ordering as of she's a big girl and had a large appetite. We ordered a lot of food bc we wanted to sample a nice variety of what your establishment had to offer. I'm not the type to even write these kind of reviews but it definitely effected the rest of our interactions the rest of the meal despite the wonderfully executed meal... The last positive thing I will say, I haven't been to a steak house in Portland who offers the variety of different steaks to order(aged, grass fed, corn finished ect.). All in all very nice but like I said the comments made by my server was uncomfortable and effected my date for the rest of the evening.

All three of us ordered the Steak Tour, and all three of us received at least one steak that was extremely unpleasant (given the quality of the restaurant and the price). Nobody complained to the wait-staff because we generally don't send food back, but for 65 dollars We all felt one of the steaks was sub-par.
Also the vegetables that we ordered came very under cooked.
