Tzin Wine & Tapas Ratings and Reviews
Attended Tzin for a birthday dinner. They've been a fave of mine for years, and did not disappoint.
The space is small and tightly packed, but energetic. Plan to make a reservation, as it's often tough to get in without one. I highly recommend the "Feed Me" menu option, where you specify how hungry you are, outline any dining preferences, and they bring you food until you're full. They do amazing things with local ingredients.
What a fantastic experience the food was real good we did the Feed me option and everything thing they brought out was delicious. I don't like fish but was brave and tried the tuna and it was real good. They had a lot of wine to chose from and are very knowledgeable. Would recommend going there we will be back for sure. What a wonderful evening. it wasn't cheap but worth every penny.
Very small place and reservations would be a good idea.
Enjoyed the salad and paella. Seafood in paella cooked especially well, but rice a bit mushy and no Socarrat which one would also expect.
Bacon dish was a bit sweet for our taste. We also had the fish feature which was marlin and fish was cooked well.
We ordered a bottle of wine off the menu, but an alternative was provided as the one we wanted was not available.
This was our 5th time there and as always was out of this world we had the feed me option on the menu and was well worth the price. Way to go Tzin ! We definitely want to promote your establishment and if you are looking for a fantastic eat this is definitely the place to go !
Absolutely enjoyed every minute of the night. Our waiter was extremely knowledgable about the menu and wine pairing. Was celebrating our wedding anniversary and they brought us a beautiful dessert at the end. Was a bit crowded because there is only a few tables but it never interfered with getting exceptional service. The food was exquisite and the chef's option to pick the dishes for you is absolutely worth trying. It is a bit pricey, it's roughly $20 a dish and a normal person would have between 3-4 so expect 2 people to fully enjoy a meal for around $200. Highly recommend if you want an intimate, unique dining experience this is the place to go.
This was not at all a meal, but rather an amazing experience.
We were served by the owner Glen, who kept as amused with that special welcoming sense of humor that is exclusive to the Irish. His knowledge of the Spanish style fare was poignant and educational. The wine list is fantastic, and for a Wine Bar the cocktail shelf is also well stocked, and as if that wasn't enough there is an assortment of exceptional beers.
As it was my wife's birthday, Glen really treated her as special as she deserves to be treated. He selected three dishes for us based on her likes and dislikes, and he was absolutely accurate with each.
This is a 12 table establishment with a Chef and a Sous Chef, and it really shows. Every sprig of greens, every sliver of fennel was placed purposefully. The sear on the roasted Icelandic Cod was perfect, and the fish was flaky and the perfect cook. The side bacon was prepared as if someone had tenderly cared for it for half an hour. The flowerless chocolate cake was rich and decadent, while the faintest hint of the Modena Balsamic cut through that richness to create a perfectly balanced dessert.
My wife's favorite cocktail was not available, but Glen told us to give him a warning for our next reservation and he would have it available.
If you want to see the difference between a nice birthday dinner, and a true dinning experience; Get yourself down to the Tzin. I promise you will not regret it.
Good job Glen and company, standing ovation. My wife will never forget this birthday.

Again the perfect meal the perfect evening .. love to go to Tzin the hosts are great .. the chef Cory keeps suprising us with his creations. . Tonight the tuna and the cod were fabulous and again the bacon is a must .. don't hesitate. .reserve it's worth it ..
Hands down one of the best dining experiences we ever had. It was truly an "experience" not just an enjoyable meal. The service is unbelievable. We highly recommend you choose the option where they choose your food for you and pair it with wine. Their wine selection is also fantastic.
I chose the Bordeaux and it worked well with all the dishes. I started with the fish special of Marlin and tomatoes on a skewer. They were juicy and the pickled shallots condiment really added a lot of unexpected flavour. I followed that with the elk sausage and warm potato salad which was amazing! This is not your cancer inducing "smokies" with dodgy texture of "I'll eat it but I don't want to know what's inside of it." Probably the best sausage I've ever had. :) The chicken and waffles was okay as comfort food but couldn't compare with what came before. NOTE TO SELF: Chicken is really difficult to make amazing in any restaurant, why do you order it? The lemon butter cake was excellent (and not because it was on the house) ;) I like how this restaurant takes some risks with their menu. They don't always work out but when it does it's memorable.
Absolutely outstanding! We did the "Feed me" option on the menu, six small bite courses of the chef's choice. It was amazing, each course better than the last. I can definitely see why this tiny little tapas place made the top 100 restaurants in Canada. Cannot wait to return. Check it out and you won't regret it for a second.
Wow what a gem! Glen the owner provided outstanding service and made us feel very welcome. He chose our meal and recommend a fantastic Vouvray to enjoy. Everything was so amazing that it was hard to choose a favorite. After much deliberation we choose the bacon as the favorite - braised and crisped with calvados reduction - sublime - it is a dish I will certainly be craving for the foreseeable future! The Tuna seared on the edges with lemon and Spanish olive oil, the paella, the Alberta beef, the line caught wild sockeye salmon with kolrabi - the list goes on and on and it was all spectacular. If you like variety and perfectly prepared and presented food this is THE spot! Cannot wait to return. Small venue so make sure to reserve your seat!
The food is excellent and prepared with the greatest care. We went with the Chefs Choice option and recommended wine pairing. None of the flavors were overpowering or salty like a lot of restaurants using these types of ingredients. Overall, everything was excellent.
The Arctic Char was grilled to perfection. Bison meatballs were flavorful and came in a savory tomato sauce without any excess sweetness or overpowering saltiness. The only item with any complaints was the steak bites which were on the medium to medium well side, though still very tender and flavorful. The bacon crostini was about the most perfect bacon, braised in a slightly sweet cider and served on a crostini
The owners were onsite and took time to chat with the clients and made for a very cozy and personal feel.
Good ambiance. Food is different but nice. This is more of a dating place hence the name 'tapas' rather than a steak house. Street parking only. Lots of flavor in their food. Not a lot of choices for drinks. Good service. We ordered the seafood paella, it's different but good. I personally like the chorizo. Not so high on the mushroom which I find a little pricey. Overall it's a great experience coming here.
The dining experience was unique and enjoyable. The parents enjoyed every bite from the uniquely crafted dishes and the service was fast and friendly. The owner/manager was very involved in serving the customers with the staff and our server was very friendly and helpful.
Overall, I would recommend this small restaurant if you are adventurous with food and love to dine in cool places that Edmonton has to offer.
