The View Restaurant at the Mirror Lake Inn Ratings and Reviews
Incredible view and food. Limited menu and $90-$100 per person is standard. But the food is great and presentation neat. Wait staff want you to enjoy and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. Couldn’t eat here every week but for special trips nothing is finer in Lake Placid.
An absolute exceptional dining experience. From a beautiful inn overlooking a lake with exceptional service to food that was done with excellence, this restaurant is truly a gem. Every item that was ordered was perfectly prepared. The service was perfect and my wife and I can't wait to go back.
The View is, no holds barred, one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. We were warmly received, introduced to our wait staff, having been lead to our table. The dining area is enchanting with beautiful, crisp, clean settings throughout and wonderful views of the surrounding mountains and Mirror Lake. Our waiter was informative, upbeat and attentive but never intrusive. Our sommelier, Justin, did more than just purvey some great choices to match our courses, but was an informative and enjoyable guide throughout our dinner. The menu is broken down into three courses, not including desert and there was a very good variety in each, some of which highlighted local fare, and were so denoted. Many items , such as Romaine Hearts (Caesar Salad) and Maine Lobster (half lobster tail with side of knuckle meat salad) that were lovely re-imaginings of classic riffs, taken to new levels. Everything was luxurious but nothing was heavy. Some of the entrees, such as the lamb cheeks, were new to me and beautifully balanced in terms of the saucing and sides. All in all a truly wonderful experience that we cannot recommend highly enough.
Lovely setting. Excellent service. Gluten free options with no compromise to chef creations. Delicious courses. Potato leek soup gorgeous. Smoked trout excellent. Quail was exceptional. Salmon wasn't special and not quit fresh enough. Lovely fresh vegetables. Average wines with very expensive prices- but still paired sufficiently with meal. Was a lovely experience.
The restaurant was great. The service, the view and the atmosphere were perfect for our anniversary dinner. Little extra touches like a special dessert and a framed picture that the waiter gave us made everything more special. Food presentation and taste were glorious.
We booked this restaurant hoping to give our friend something special. We were beyond thrilled with the experience we had. The menu had varied case for all the pallets. Ingredients were fresh and presented in a very appetizing way. The atmosphere was spectacular. Of the listed is somewhat expensive we found it reasonable for $300 before people with drinks and appetizers and dessert. Highly recommended. Looking for that special meal especially occasion for a nice date!
My wife and I celebrated our 49th Wedding Anniversary at The View. We went, knowing it was going to be pricey, and that it is. We both ordered the Atlantic Cod, and were totally delighted. It was fresh and flakey, the way we like it. The combination of flavors were delicious. Probably the best I've had. We split a salad, which was also very good. They had a few nice touches, which we did ask for, such as; a "happy anniversary plate" with candy, and also a complimentary picture put in a frame. Nice. Mariah, our waitress, was so delightful, helpful and friendly. Our experience, on the whole, was memorable. The only caveat, of course was the exorbitant prices, which caused me to rate the restaurant less than a five star. But, if you don't mind paying, for instance, $17 for a unremarkable salad, go for it. The place is a visual delight.
The View Restaurant is outstanding. If you are visiting Lake Placid and looking for a fantastic dining experience look no further. The service, food and ambiance is nothing short of first class. Most of the menu options take advantage of local source ingredients which provide wonderful flavors in each course of your meal. The service is wonderful and allows you to relax and enjoy the food and the view of Mirror Lake.
We had dinner at The View to celebrate our recent marriage days ago. The View exceeded all of our expectations! The food was simply amazing and the setting was beautiful. The service was top notch and the staff really did go the extra mile to make our experience special. We will certainly be coming back next year!
The View was simply amazing! It was one of the top five meals that I have ever had and I have traveled quite a bit - very impressive restaurant! They got it all right.....beautiful setting, excellent service and fresh, local, creative cuisine (and they could accommodate gluten free needs). The lamb entree was honestly the best lamb dish I have ever had and I order it frequently. It is an expensive meal but I think of it like a night a entertainment......well worth it!
This is a lovely restaurant with an incredible view; we were there for sunset, and the change of light was so relaxing. The service is impeccable, and the food was excellent - with the exception of one of our desserts, strawberries with ice cream, whipped cream, olive oil cake, and balsamic. The vinegar was over powering; perhaps if they used chocolate balsamic it would work. Otherwise, my steak was a perfectly cooked piece of prime meat, and the vegetable medley was probably the best I've ever had in a restaurant .My friend had a marvelous crab cake - very little filler and large pieces of crab . The seating areas are well-spaced creating a feeling of privacy. Overall, we rated it on par with Wheatly (in Lenox,MA) and the former L'Espinasse at the St. Regis (NYC). That is to say that this restaurant is well-worth the trip. Not only are you served an amuse bouche, you will also receive a palette cleanser, homemade passion fruit sorbet. They still have REAL candles on the table - very romantic ambiance and setting overlooking Mirror Lake.
The restaurant is beautiful. The view is priceless. But the most important feature of this place is the service. You will not lack anything. Our waitress Mariah and all the other serves pay close attention to detail... you never lack a full glass of water and they constantly check on you to see if you need anything else. The food is delicious. The menu has a good variety. The appetizer crab cake and the fried calamari was really good. The salad choice we had was very tasty. The duck special was really good and so was the lamb that my daughter ordered. The wine list is awesome and so are the cocktail menu. Highly recommend when visiting Lake Placid.
