Another wonderful dinner at the Refectory! Food was excellent. On an unusual note, two of the wines on the wine list were unavailable, or not available in the year noted. Wait staff were apologetic and we were provided a lovely after dinner drink with dessert, which was a nice touch.

The Refectory is by far the best restaurant in Central Ohio. The exquisite, imaginative cuisine was matched only by the superb service we received from our extremely knowledgeable server Justin as well as his team member Camilla. Everything we experienced was perfect from the time we sat down until we departed.

We went for a music event that included a fixed menu. The food was great as it always is. Really delicious hubard squash soup, salmon terrine, and cunard magret. I wish we would have had some choices vs totally set menu. I was interested in something other than duck. For the price we should have had a choice of main courses.

Our meal was well prepared and presented and the wait staff very knowledgeable, welcoming, and helpful. We loved our waiter Justin and would ask for him again. We had a wonderful anniversary dinner and plan to go back again. I had the whole Dover sole and my husband the salmon with scallops. Both meals were fabulous.

The Refectory is a wonderful venue for a high quality gastronomic event with top notch food, beautiful surroundings and a very attentive wait staff. We took our guests visiting us from their home base living in Manhattan who vacation annually in France. They were very impressed with the menu, the food and the entire experience of the Refectory as we knew they would be. We have never been disappointed here.

We went to the Refectory to celebrate by wife's birthday. We were shown to our table promptly and were greeted by our server, Chris, who has waited on us in the past. When we opened our menus, they had a custom birthday greeting printed for my wife on the inside -- it was a very nice touch. We had appetizers, soup, salad and entrees. Chris helped us by suggesting the right wine to pair with our courses. The food was elegant and delicious - as always. For dessert we had their special salty caramel baked Alaska - delicious. The dessert was complimentary since it was her birthday. This is why we always go to the Refectory for birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions. We been going to the Refectory for 30 years to celebrate. Over these years proprietor Kamal, Chef Richard, and their team have maintained the high quality of fine dining and service that the Refectory is well known for. We will be back again and again.

This was our first trip and we cannot wait to go back. The food was excellent. The service was outstanding. The entire experience was one I would want to repeat. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and presented like art. The waiter was both very personable and highly knowledgeable.

My friends and I wanted to experience this restaurant based on the positive reputation it has. unfortunately, the actual experience didn't match the reputation. After our head waiter greeted us, we waited about 10 minutes before we asked another server to get our head waiter to come over to take our drink orders. That waiter struck us as being quite affected, although I will say that his helpers were very attentive and responsive. The food was mediocre at best, which was quite a surprise. My friend, who ordered scallops, was dismayed to get only four medium-sized scallops for the price. My other friend ordered a filet mignon and had a sour face when she bit into the meat. Then I and the other friend tried a bite of the filet and we agreed that it didn't taste quite right. My rack of lamb was okay, but nothing special. We left feeling dissatisfied and vowing not to return.

Central Ohio's best restaurant. Great food, the best wine list in the area as well as a great beer and cocktail selection, nice and newly renovated patio, fireside dining in the bistro/bar area, and events and dining options at many different price points. The loft space provides dinner with music events several times per week. Famous winemakers and their representatives offer tastings and wine dinners here. Finally, they have the friendliest and most conscientious service that can be found anywhere.

This was our second time to Refectory within the last three months. We loved it the first time and took our daughter visiting from college there on a Saturday night. We were less impressed this time.. First, we had to wait for half an hour to be seated - were not even offered an apology or a glass of something.. While waiting around the entrance area, we saw people coming into the bistro section, some of them in sneakers, ripped jeans and long t-shirts worn as dresses.. Not much the restaurant can do about but it was kind of off-putting and makes you ask yourself: "Why did I make an effort?".. Once we were seated, the service was good but not very warm (I never thought I would complain about this but now I understand what people writing that kind of comment, meant). The food was very good: Among the three of us, we had pumpkin soup, gazpacho, bison steak, monkfish and a pear tart - all cooked very well, pear tart being the star.. I guess we'll go back but need some time to miss it..

Kamal Boulos and his team hosted us wonderfully for our second anniversary dinner. Kamal added thoughtful touches to make our evening most special. We were engaged at the Refectory in 2014, an occasion that Kamal & his team made memorable by plotting the surprise with me.
Every time we have dined at the Refectory over many years, the food, wine & service are truly world class. The Refectory is one of only 95 restaurants globally to receive the Wine Spectator's Grand Award.
The Refectory is also a great value, if you care about exquisite food & wine at reasonable prices.
The Refectory is not only a wonderful place for special occasions, it offers a dinner music series in addition to wine tastings. Go as often as you can!

We have been to the Refectory utilizing the Bistro Menu and Room about 5 times in the last couple years. It seems that the food and ambiance gets better each time. It is a great value and a wonderful warm dining room.

I've been on a restaurant tour of Columbus Ohio and having been born an breed in Columbus, this surprisingly was my first experience with this restaurant. It is now obvious to me that this is the classiest and most romantic restaurant in Columbus Ohio. There is no restaurant that beats the Refectory.

My husband and I recently celebrated our first anniversary at The Refectory. It was the first time dining there for both of us. We arrived a bit early for our reservation and enjoyed a drink at the bar while waiting. We were not in a hurry, so were able to enjoy more drinks and appetizers before settling on a main course. The meal was delicious, the wine list was outstanding, and the cocktails were perfect. The ambiance is probably one of the best features as it is romantic and quiet but still has a lively feel. We certainly enjoyed our anniversary dinner here. It is pricey, but the food certainly lives up to it's reputation. The Refectory is a great special occasion place!

Usually a very high quality place to dine, and one of our favorites, but the regular chef was apparently off tonight, so it was not up to par.
Be careful where you are seated. The air conditioner can blow like a gale on the north side tables by the wall. We finally had the server bring out tablecloths to cover the vents.
We still like the restaurant, and will come back.

You can't go to a restaurant in Columbus that treats you more like you are special than Refectory. You are treated as important. If you are a repeat customer they are likely to remember you. The menu is limited, but what they offer could not be tastier, and the wine list is better than any I know in Columbus. A special place to go for a special occasion.

I went to the Refectory with my husband to celebrate my birthday and they really made my birthday memorable. The food was outstanding and the service was superb. The restaurant was quiet and cozy which was perfect. We will definitely return for the next special occasion.
