The Perfect Caper Ratings and Reviews
We like to think that we know good food. We travel quite often. This restaurant had the best food we have had in a while.
We ordered the Heirloom and Motz salad... unbelievably delicious!!! For our entree, we shared the Duck a Deux facons. The flavor was exceptional.
We can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. Will definitely go back when we’re in the area.
This used to be a fabulous place, but has really gone downhill! The atmosphere is no longer fine dining at all. Bright lights, zero ambience and staff behaviour is not at all befitting of an upscale dining experience. You can do far better elsewhere in Punta Gorda.
I loved the experience but it was on the pricey side and the portions were small, especially the veggies. Our server was not that attentive but the young bus boys were excellent and very helpful. We were charged $.50 for a n extra stuffed olive. I think that was very petty since we paid $175. For dinner for 2!! My husband does not want to come back.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with wine and dinner. Dean our server was very attentive to us and provided some great recommendations. We really enjoyed the occasion especially since we were not over crowded by another table or noise. We will definitely go back.
My husband and I made reservations for dinner on New Years Eve. We wanted to do something a little special without the "New Year's Eve" party theme of a lot of the other restaurants in the area. Our meal was, as usual, wonderful as was the service and ambiance of the restaurant. We really enjoy going to the Perfect Caper.
Went for lunch to try something new in the fine dining area. Food was good. Sea scallops were tender and the dish was well complimented with vegetables. Husband had lump crab cake and said it was the best he has had in a very long time. He did not care for the pollenta. Wine selection was limited, but adequate.
It is a challenge for restaurants to satisfy 8 people at one table. Everyone was well satisfied with a variety of dishes. The house pate is a nice way to start. The calamari preoaration is notable. We had one child experience duck for the first time and he enjoyed it. My spouse enjoyed the crabby scallops for the 3rd time and they are exceptional (no shell!). Two orderd filet with fingerling after my warning that the lobster mac is over baked - awful shame (more than once in past when told that’s how they make it!) . My grouper was good. Leave strip steaks for steak houses. It was the only miss in 8 entrees. Wine choices are limited but adequate. Same with liquor and cocktails.
Our dinner was excellent as usual and the service was too. This is our favorite restaurant, however, this time my husband’s Manhattan was not as good. Always before, it was made with Early Times bourbon and he liked it so much he asked for the brand name and started buying it for our home. When we received the check, we noticed the price of this drink was $14 when he had only asked for a Manhattan, not specifying any particular brand. We asked Lisa, our server, who sent over Noelle. She said that Early Times well drinks had recently been changed to Jim Beam. She did credit our gift certificate for the difference in price but my husband is still disappointed that he will no longer be able to get an Early Times Manhattan.
We were treated by our boss for a Christmas lunch for the girls. Besides the fact, he
preordered Champagne to surprise us......the service was excellent, the food was
very delicious. The whole experience left us all perfectley delighted.
Thank you to all at the PERFECT Caper.
Waitress spoiled the evening...service not nearly on a par with when the owners were on premise...I ordered three bottles of wine...one white and two reds that I asked to be opened and decanted for our main...waitress brought the white and then announced she could only get four pours out of one bottle...my first thought was to ask her which two of my guests she didn’t intend to pour for...I have been a sommelier for many years and have never come across such a blatant and uncalled for up sell attempt...she then took our orders without any attempt at having the women at our table order first...she took all the orders but mine...even though the others were my guests it was never my intention not to eat with them...the restaurant indicates that an 18% surcharge will be added to all bills where there are parties of six or more...while standing in the parking lot our waitress rushed out to tell everyone I left no tip when I paid...when I told her I believed I had already left 18% as indicated on their website she announced that not all waitstaff follow the owners policy and she had ‘t added it....( my guess is she thought that 18% was not enough) and hoped for more...I have been to this restaurant several times in the past and went because the food is presently with care and the ingredients are excellent but mostly because I don’t mind paying for good service...good service is what makes my dining experience a special event..sadly, the quality of service since the owners have opened other restaurants and are no longer there to train staff, has deteriorated...too bad because it used to be an icon in the area...was not worth the $600 plus dining room experience any longer...
I was very pleasantly surprised dining at this restaurant. The atmosphere was quiet and very comfortable. The service was very good and the food was delicious. The staff was very friendly. I will definitely go back and bring friends with me to share and enjoy. This was the best restaurant I have eaten at in a long time.
The food at the Perfect Caper was above excellent! The appetizers as well as our entrees were delicious. The meals are a bit expensive but worth it. I wish they would extend their wine list and offer more wines, the wines are expensive. Overall I would recommend the Perfect Caper.
We love the Caper! It was a bit noisy and we were seated in an area we didn’t like. One of had to look into the bar and one sat on a chair, not a booth seat. Would have preferred different seating. Dinner was wonderful. It was my gift to my husband for his 82nd birthday.
A wonderful restaurant and they never disappoint! It quickly became our favorite restaurant. Food, staff, drinks and atmosphere all fabulous and consistently so. Fun to eat in the bar as well for a more casual experience. Highly recommend this restaurant for dining out whether a special occasion or not.
Cocktails in the bar were very done (selection is limited but do carry some premium). Enjoyed the chicken pate. The chop salad was delicious as in the past. Won’t order the steak with lobster mac & cheese again. Twice it has been served with mush for macaroni and rubber inedible lobster. Huge disappointment. The filet was well prepared but side veggies were also mush. A lamb dish was mild flavored and tender. The sausage pasta dish was basic and well prepared. The shrimp and grits were good. Will go back to filet with fingerling potatoes.
