The Melting Pot - Savannah Ratings and Reviews
We went for mother son date night! It was a very fun experience. Im so glad the Melting Pot offered something like this for mom and son. It would be a perfect dessert place when you just want some amazing chocolate. I believe the dessert was our favorite part.
Great ambiance but the tables for two were right in front of a wall. Felt closed in and the people next to us felt like we were right on top of us. Food is legit!!!! Loved cooking my own food too. Service was second to none as well because Kayla did a great job at explaining things and letting us be alone. She didn't check back every two minutes like at some other chain restaurants! I will absolutely return but will make sure we don't get the table for two seating area. Parking is kind of difficult but worth looking for a spot downtown. We got the 4-course meal: very tasty, full of flavor, fresh ingredients, described perfectly on the menu, expensive! Got sparkling water: $8!
I am VERY hard of hearing and the table for two we had was perfect due to its being isolated from adjacent tables. I could actually have a conversation with my wife, conversations in most resturants today is a near impossibility. The service and food were wonderful.
We did have a problem when paying, charged our card the full amount when the amount of the gift card we had was not taken off, took the folks at Melting Pot about one second to correct the billg once made aware. The server was new but VERY responsive and made our experience a extremily good one.
We were in Savannah for our 35th Anniversary and were trying to think of something close to where we were staying (Cotton Sail Hotel) for our dinner. We were going to go to Ruth Chris's or CH on the river. When I googled for area restaurants, The Melting Pot showed up. We haven't been to a Melting Pot in close to 25 years and decided to try it since it wasn't very far from the hotel. Made reservations on their website. The cheese was runny. The waitress prepared everything by pouring it in the bowl, stirring it a few times and leaving. We had to constantly stir the cheese to try and get it to solidify to even stick to the bread. The lettuce salad was old. The meat selection was very good, as well as the chocolate. For a bill over $90, I was not impressed. Will rethink about ever going to another Melting Pot.
Food was way overpriced!! I have no idea why the prices were so high because your waitress is barely there although she was very nice, you're cooking your own food, and the food tastes average. The cheese fondue was disgusting because there was way too much wine in it, and it tasted like straight alcohol. I wouldn't recommend eating here. The experience was fun, but I was very disappointed otherwise.
When I made the reservation we did not know they were going to have a set menu for Valentine's Day on 2/11. When they called to confirm they told us that they were havi a set menu and gave me prices. I told them that we would have 2 kids with us and they said that the children's menu would still be available. Apparently that wasn't the case as they did not bring any kids menus to the table and the waitress had to go ask the manager. She came back and said it was still being offered and brought us a kids menu. We ordered off the kids menu and ordered for ourselves. When we got our cheese course the waitress informed us that it wasn't the kids menu but would be the set menu but just the proteins for $27.95 for the kids. At this point it's not like we could get up and leave it was 7pm on the Saturday before Valentine's Day. I think it is ridiculous to charge that much for a 6 and 5 yo who hardy ate anything. The food was excellent but very disappointed in the set prices especially when we were told that we could get the kids menu when they confirmed our reservation.
I found the food mediocre at best. I ordered the shrimp and steak as main course from the Savannah Restaurant Week menu. The shrimp were very small and the steak was not a prime cut. The vegetables were fresh but unfortunately, the desserts were definitely NOT fresh. Most of the cakes were stale and seemed to be store bought and I did not care for the marshmallows. There were very few pieces of fruit consisting of pineapple, bananas and strawberries, and they were fresh but very limited. Compared with the other restaurant offerings for Savannah Restaurant week, I felt this meal was DEFINITELY not worth the price. I would rate it very mediocre at best and definitely overrated. Maybe folks like the idea of the kebabs and the shared experience, but in my opinion, the dining experience was a waste of time and money. The one positive note was the wait staff and the manager, they were personable, friendly and customer service oriented.
