Not an extensive menu, but what's on it is good fare. Their Caesar salad is served with whole leaves, for eating with one's fingers - love it that way. I often select the meatloaf, which is made with a good amount of mushrooms. There's usually a fish special and a pasta special - both looked good. A good option for Truckee dining.
We always enjoy the Lodge... the evening we were there a wedding party had been moved in from the outside tent because of rain.... very loud! Staff seemed a little over run... After bread was suggested by our server, I had to ask for it again. The soup of the day was described as potato leek soup... it had potatoes and leeks in it, but the description should have been much more than it was. Traditional Potato Leek soup is a very mild soup and creamy with no meat in it. The soup that was served was very spicy with chicken, red bell peppers and I think red pepper flakes.
Took about 5 minutes for anyone to greet us. Then even though there were probably about 10 tables total being used, my husband and I were seated by the bar and an open window (it was 48 outside and raining). We sat at our table waiting for someone to come over so we could ask for another table but no one ever came over. We got up and left.
Another excellent experience at The Lodge Restaurant! We love The Lodge for a number of reasons, starting with the excellent service from the moment we walk in to the moment we exit. Staff here enjoy their work, and they want you to have the best experience possible.
The food is equal to the excellent service. Some new items on the menu are worth a try, and old favorites remain as delicious as when they were first added to the menu. Seasonal items are rotated on and off regularly, so there's always something new. The Seared Ahi and Kale Salad is a delicious, well-seasoned, beautiful dish that is light and refreshing. I tried the Turkey and Shiitake Meatloaf for the first time and with its crispy bacon wrapping, it was a hearty and indulgent dish. Save room for dessert - the black & white creme brulee is worth it, as are the house-made donuts with dipping sauces.
The views of the golf course are beautiful and provide a relaxing setting. Or, on evenings where the weather is stormy, fireside dining is a cozy delight.
Wonderful service and food!
Nice meal, good entrees, good service. One busboy kind of rude, otherwise everything great.
We had a very nice dinner and evening at The Lodge. Service was very nice. Food was very good, although this was the first time our meals weren't hot...they were served warm...which was ok ...but hot would have been better. We've eaten here many times before and this is the first time the dinners weren't hot. Would definitely come back though...
We enjoy the Lodge every time we come. The food is consistently delicious and the service is excellent. Couldn’t recommend it more.
We had a lovely experience this past week at the Lodge - we enjoyed ahi tartare, meatballs, salmon, burgers, salad, fish tacos and brownie sundaes. The ambience was perfect in the pub where we requested to sit with our 3 kids - ages 9, 7 and 4.
The menu is huge but offers a great selection of dishes we like. The server was outstanding on a very busy night. It was "no corkage" Tuesday so the place was packed. The food was very good.
Great service and food
Love this place
Awesome food and service was impeccable, Mike Botto was dynamite! Will return!
Brunch at The Lodge, especially holiday brunch, is always fabulous. This visit was for Easter Brunch, and the format was a buffet with a few special-order items. The brunch came with a free mimosa, and it was delicious.
The buffet had a broad selection of dishes with something for everyone. I particularly loved the King crab legs and the breakfast strata, while my husband devoured the souffle french toast, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, and donuts. It was all delicious. In fact, we forgot to save room for the dessert, which was a choice of three specials. Our wonderful server let us take brownies home so we could enjoy them later.
One thing I never think to mention about The Lodge is their coffee, it is one of the best cups around. While they don't have espresso, the regular and decaf they serve is so good, they can be forgiven for not having espresso.
Service was, as it always is, perfection. Even though it was a buffet, servers circulated and checked frequently to remove plates, ask if anything was needed, and to remind guests of the special order items.
We went home full, happy, and glad we started our day with brunch at The Lodge.
Our server, James was outstanding and the food was great.
We were seated by the fireplace which was lovely. The service was good and the food was great. A nice dinner out on a Saturday night!
The Lodge Restaurant & Pub is our favorite Truckee restaurant, whether we're dining in the casual and friendly pub, or fireside in the cozy dining room. In the summer, the outdoor deck is a fun place to hang with friends while enjoying the beautiful golf course views.
On this Monday evening, we wanted to try Mexican Mondays, and wow! I was so glad we did. The Mexican special was Carne Asada, and it was superb. The beef was tender and flavorful, and it was served with Spanish rice, "drunken" pinto beans, guacamole, sauteed onions, and flour tortillas. I enjoyed every bite. My husband had the pasta special, which was smoked salmon in a creamy sauce over fresh pappardelle pasta. I tried a bite, and it was also delicious, with smoky, creamy flavor.
They say you come to a restaurant for the food, but you return for the service. Well, at The Lodge, you won't have to choose between the two, because the service is as good as the food. Staff are friendly, professional, and fun. They want you to have a good experience, and they do so much to accommodate people. We dine here regularly, and we see this same level of excellent service every time we're there.
What a wonderful restaurant in a gorgeous setting! With a menu that has a good variety of small plates, appetizers, and dinners, there is something for everyone.
This visit was on St. Patrick's Day, and while I'm not a fan of boiled cabbage and corned beef, but plenty of people were enjoying that special for dinner. I had the Thai Chicken soup as a starter, and it was perfect - spicy but not overly so, flavorful, hot, and with big chunks of chicken. I also had the fish tacos, which are a favorite because they are packed with fish, pineapple slaw, and a spicy sauce, and served with guacamole, salsa, rice, and these amazingly deep-flavored drunken beans. YUM. My husband had the Alaskan King Salmon, which was perfectly cooked and served with a wonderful little risotto cake that needs to stay on the menu!
We shared the dessert special, a dark flourless chocolate cake so good it should be illegal.
Service, as always, was perfect. Professional, friendly, and well-timed. Not rushed or slow, just perfect. We love this place!
Love Olga! Great waitress!
Always a good meal, often have wine list specials at a good value price, service usually very good. Nice gas fireplace and good view of the golf course. There is a decent bar scene also which is usually lively. The menu is limited, but varied. The main dining room is small but adequate. Never hurts to have reservations, as it can be busy. Meal prices in the $20-35 range.
Dan was our server and he was very attentive and efficient. We have been here many times.
We have eaten here many times and simply enjoy the lodge hamburger on the small plates menu when we are tired after a long day. And we were pleased again this night with a great burger.
The Lodge has consistently high-quality and creative menu choices. The service is always excellent. Definitely one of our favorite places to dine!
great service, good drinks and consistent food preparation!
The Lodge Restaurant & Pub is our favorite Truckee dining spot. With small plates, appetizers, and full dinners, there is something for everyone. This visit was during one of the more crowded weekends in Truckee and even though the restaurant and pub were busy, the staff kept everything flowing well. I love that we often see managers out and assisting the staff, ensuring that every customer gets the same level of great service.
The soup that night was a delicious tomato with applewood smoked bacon that was creamy and bursting with flavor. I also had a "small" plate of the polenta with mushrooms, spinach, carrots, and caramelized onions that was perfection. And not small at all - with a cup of the soup, this was enough to fill me up.
My husband had the delicious King salmon, which was the evening's seafood special. It is always a wonderful dish - the fish is perfect every time. Normally we would get the donuts for dessert (worth every calorie especially if you've been out skiing/riding all day) but we were completely full. Next time, for sure!
If you're in Truckee during super busy weekends, it's always good to have a reservation for The Lodge. The pub often fills up quickly, too, so be sure to get there early and hang out with the friendly bar staff.
Great place st stop after a day skiing. Really enjoyed the spiced pear and buratta salad and clam chowder had nice large pieces of clam in it. The special pasta of the night was a bolonaise. The sauce was pretty good, but the cheese ruined it. There were large blobs of a cream cheese type stuff. Fresh Parmesan would have been better. Pork loin with cabbage was great and the donuts with dipping sauces were a fun end.
One note, that I suppose is not completely the restaurant’s fault, is that people let their kids play hide and seek and run around like wild animals. The restaurant could have a nice atmosphere in the dining room and has bar space for louder groups, but the restaurant doesn’t differentiate where they seat people and wait staff doesn’t ask that parents control their brats. Actually, it’s the parents that are brats for allowing bad behavior in public an bothering other patrons. I know it is awkward to ask for some decent parenting, but when I go out to dinner, I’m paying for the experience, which shouldn’t include kids running laps and bumping into the back of my chair every 2 minutes.
Always great food, friendly service, local lodge/restaurant /bar in my association.
Menu very disappointing. Only seafood was scallops. A lot of junky foods not appropriTe for high end restaurant. Mac andcheexe. Turkey meatloaf. Thai soba broth tasted like soapy water. GreT service. Great ambience but menu is third rate
I just love The Lodge Restaurant, it's perfect for everything from midweek dining to celebrating special occasions with friends and family. This visit was a weekend dinner apres ski, and it was perfect as always. I tried the roasted acorn squash, kale, and beet salad, and it was superb. With quinoa, it was filling enough for dinner - if you're having it as an appetizer, it's perfect for splitting with a friend. My husband got his favorite cheeseburger and fries, and it was perfectly cooked and delicious as always.
Great news! The donuts are back! If you haven't tried these delectable donut holes, it is worth saving room (and calories) for them. They are crispy and sugary on the outside, soft and delicious on the inside, and they come with three dipping sauces. The dipping sauces (chocolate, lemon curd, strawberry) are good enough to eat on their own.
I can't say enough about the service here. Everyone from the managers to the servers to the buspeople is friendly, professional, and interested in making your experience the best it can be. They always take great care of us, and we love them for it.
In winter, the main dining room has a cozy fire in a large stone fireplace that is perfect after a day on the slopes or in the back country. In summer, the outdoor deck has beautiful views of the golf course. The bar is always a fun place to hang out, watch sports or people-watch, and enjoy the delicious hand-crafted cocktails, beer, and wine.
We always enjoy the lodge! If you live in the area you will most likely run into neighbors and enjoy friendly conversation. The staff is always wonderful and a few favorites; Nathan at the bar, Peter service manager and Olga was our server!!!!
Noticeable decline in food quality...service was nice... convenient location
Although the evening was on the later side, around 8 PM, there were still quite a few people enjoying dinner. Not too slow, not too busy. Setting and ambience are lovely. Service was outstanding. We shared three dishes. The shrimp and pork dumplings were delicious. Burrata frisée salad with poached pears had a lovely delicate dressing. Great combination of flavors, although textures challenging to manage in a salad. We shared the grilled salmon over spears of grilled asparagus and mashed potato. Worth every butter-laden calorie! Generous portions. No room for dessert.
Wonderful evening. Worth the small detour from downtown. We will be back with friends!
We had a party of 6 and the service was great. 20 year olds and 50 year olds all loved it.
Bests scallops we've had in a long time, they were excellent. The only problem we had was the dining room was cold and drafty. They did move us to a table further away from the windows which helped but it was still a little cold and drafty. But the scallops were really really good.
This visit to The Lodge was for Valentine's Day dinner with my husband. We chose The Lodge especially for its delicious food, excellent service, and cozy, romantic ambiance. The Lodge exceeded our expectations.
We were seated by the beautiful stone fireplace in the main dining room, which is one of our favorite spots in the restaurant. Service was prompt, friendly, efficient, and professional, as it always is at The Lodge.
My husband had one of the specials, lobster ravioli, which was fresh, delicious, and quite filling. I had the seafood special, seared diver scallops. I think scallop lovers will agree, this is a dish that when properly prepared, is sublime, and when not done well, is horrible. My dinner was sublime, with the scallops perfectly seared and medium rare on the inside. There was a delicious puree (sorry, cannot remember the veggie used) and delicious grilled asparagus.
We had the special sticky toffee pudding for dessert, and it was the perfect ending to our romantic dinner.
Delicious food . Always good and a very nice waiter as well :)
As good as usual. Went on Monday with lower crowd and the restaurant is quieter (nice). Service was good (has sometimes been of lower quality in past instances)
The Lodge is just a great local spot. It caters to owners and guests in Tahoe Donner but really anyone in the Truckee area would enjoy it. The food is good and dependable, the ambiance is casual and authentic and service is very good. In Truckee, it's our go-to restaurant .
My wife and I stopped by for the first time in a year. Every thing was great; menu, food, and service.
The Lodge is the finest and most consistent restaurant in Northern Lake
This is a bit off the beaten track in the Tahoe Donner part of Truckee, but worth the trip. Service was great, and the food was prepared well with quality ingredients. We all enjoyed our dinner and would definitely go back again when visiting the Tahoe/Truckee area.
Birthday dinner with family.
