The Library Restaurant - Myrtle Beach - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant ticked all of the boxes for me - great food, excellent service, pleasant ambiance, and quiet enough that I could actually have a conversation with my dinner companion. The steak tartare was the best I've ever had; the sweetbreads were perfectly done table-side. Highly recommended.
The food and service were top knotch. Home made Caesar salad prepared at your table. Steak Diane also prepared at your table. Used a butter knife for my steak it was so tender. She Crab soup is a must. Be aware is a little pricey but I will be back on our next visit.
As always it was a great evening. The wait staff are true professionals and the owner as gracious as ever. My only regret is that they will be closed for relocation the next time I am in town. The menu and wine list lived up to the high standards I have come to expect. It is by far the very best restaurant in Myrtle Beach.
We went to The Library as it had good reviews. However, it didn't live up to the positive reviews or our expectations. The restaurant was almost empty the evening of our visit (just before the beginning of 'high season'). The whole experience was reminiscent of the 1970's. The Caesar salad was the highlight. Made at the table it was 'classical' except for the paprika coated croutons. My companion didn't finish his veal and shrimp. Nothing wrong with it but nothing 'right' with it either. I had the shrimp scampi with a sun-dried tomato topping. It was ok, but lacking flavor.
The previous evening we had dined at another fine dining establishment that had live music, a better ambiance with excellent food. The cost was $ 3 less for more 'courses'. (2 salad, 2 entrees, one dessert, 1 glass of wine vs 1 salad, 2 entrees and one glass of wine at The Library.). There was a stark contrast that was hard to miss. We don't mind paying for great food. This was just so-so.
Our recommendation. Go some where else.
The establishment is not in a good part of town. Although they are moving in May to a new location.
For me I thought it was grossly over priced for the type, quality and quantity of food.
The service was other nothing more than fair.
This is billed as a high end establishment. There are several in Myrtle Beach in my view this is not one of them.
My friends and I picked The Library at random for dinner during a business trip. What a great find! Evrything from the time we walked in to when we left was amazing! The wait staff were courteous and attentive, the food and drinks were delicious! The menu is pricey, but we all feel we got what we paid for. Highly recommend The Library!
Third time at the Library and it continues to please me. From its unpretentious exterior to its outstanding service, it is a gem. On this visit I found the salads to be particularly attractive and tasty and the filet mignon is first rate. A must for any serious visit to Myrtle Beach, plus a regular stop for special events for those who live nearby.
We had Steak Diane many yrs ago for our honeymoon. We decided to go here to celebrate our anniversary. The food was 5 Star all the way. Joshua, our waiter, prepared tableside Caesar salad and Steak Diane. Everything was impeccable. All the vegetables were so flavorful - asparagus w/hollandaise, mushrooms w/white wine, Grand Marnier carrots, green beans amandine and parmesan crusted red potatoes. Outstanding. Try the Dragon Fly Cocktail. Delish. Hope to get there again when we're in the area. Loved it. Great service!
We dined here for New Year's Eve and enjoyed impeccable service and a special limited menu. Tableside Caesar salad was excellent as always. Entrees of NY strip, lobster, and rack of lamb were each delicious. The vegetables served family style were prepared in a unique and tasty fashion (e.g., carrots in a grand marnier sauce). They go out of their way to make guests feel welcome without being intrusive. And subsequent to the meal, when one of our party called to inquire about a lost glove, they called back to say they had gone out to the street and found the glove where we had parked. That was the kind of above-and-beyond that we have noticed from this great restaurant.
Not much to look at on the outside, but quiet atmosphere inside with great service and wonderful food. The Caesar salad and Steak Diane (both prepared at the table) were wonderful. The brandy alexander after dinner was fabulous. The Library is perfect for special occasions.
Restaurant is trying to be 5 star but doesn't make the mark......Food was good but not worth the price....I had Colorado Lamb chops....good but not worth the $50. price tag....Waiter was very friendly and attentive....made a table side Caesar salad that was good but again a salad for one was $12.00
Danny in Tux was added touch! Lamb was excellent, would have liked dijon mustard with mushroom sauce added to lamb. To much garlic in salad. Escargot was tops! Cucumber soup superb. The carrots in sauce very good, string beans could have had more almond extract and vanilla bean flavor. Potatoes could have been galette and a free glass of merlot wine to finish with champagne poached peaches with with heavy cream in raspberry liqueur framboise!!!!!
Dined at the Library with a group of friends who traveled to MB for golf and shopping. All of our meals were excellent. The presentation of the she crab soup was flawless. Our waiter could not have been more knowledgeable or attentive (although there was only one other couple in the restaurant. Will definitely return.
We'd been meaning to try this place FOREVER and finally made a reservation for Thanksgiving weekend with my parents who are from N.Y.
The food was some of the best I've had in my life. We have a second home in MB and although we love it for being a family friendly destination we've become accustomed to eating out and not expecting much in the way of high end dining. This little slice of heaven made us feel like we were sitting in a cozy, old school restaurant in NYC. Every course that came out we were all looking across the table at each other like "Omg are we seriously in MB right now?"
For Thanksgiving dinner we ate at Ruth's Chris and were kicking ourselves that we didn't make reservations here instead. If you want to give yourself a well deserved break from the sea of oversized big box restaurants in town definitely add this place to your list! I'm just mad we waited so long to finally go!
We came to celebrate our 1st Thanksgiving in Myrtle Beach. I had heard only good things about The Library. We were not disappointed. The Libreary is a warm and cozy place.
We had the Thanksgiving Dinner. It was the best I ever had. All of the foods on the plate complimented the Turkey and each one was better and more satisfying. Our waiter Daniel was the best. We were not hurried. I can not wait to return.
We had never been to The Library and we are so happy we picked this for a special occasion! The food, service, and professionalism of the staff all ranked as 5 out of 5 stars for us. We spent 15 minutes after dinner talking to the owner/chef, and it was a delight to meet him and get to know even more about the restaurant. The food prep at the table (Caesar Salad and Steak Diane) was phenomenal. Joshua did a terrific job, and his knowledge of the menu and wine list was a definite plus. We will definitely return, and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in Myrtle Beach, or who will be visiting there. It is by far the premier restaurant in the Grand Strand, with no equals. Bon appetit!
