The Greenhouse Tavern Ratings and Reviews
We had a last minute reservation and the only seating available was at the Bar in the basement, which turned out to be the best surprise! We were seated right in front of the kitchen staff, and were able to see exactly how the food was prepared, which was super fun! They were playing music also, that was more fun and less fine dining which we enjoyed. It felt like a private event with the chef! The food was incredible and the seasonal drinks were fantastic! It was my first time at Greenhouse, and I will absolutely be back!
The service (Alice) was outstanding for a busy Friday night at 8:00pm. The small plates and appetizers were very good and with ability to mix and match for a table share was the best option. The wine selection was great but a bit on the pricey side and their cocktail list was a bit short. But with a full bar, you can order whatever you like. The beer and whiskey/bourbon list was extensive as well with a great selection of upper brands.
My only negative was the size of the main entrees. While selecting the seared duck breast sounded great and it did taste good, the portion left a lot to be desired for $34 (four small strips). The other entree was the special of the night "sea scallops" and again should have been bigger for the price paid.
$300 tab for 4 people.
Overall a good place and food and alcohol selection were very ample.
Give it a try and judge for yourself
The food, beer list and wine by the glass were all every good. The service was good. The atmosphere is nice and the location is great. My only disappointment is that I chose it because I was anxious to try the Vegan Barbecue. It is no longer on the menu but it's still listed online as being on the dinner menu. I felt a bit cheated. I just looked again and it's still listed even though our waiter told us that they were supposed to take it off the online menu. It's a nice place and I would consider going there again.
Our server, Alice, was outstanding. She patiently took the time to walk us through the menu and offer suggestions along the way. The wings were some of the best we'd ever had! She helped us choose the perfect bottle of wine to complement our meals as well. We can't wait to come back to the Greenhouse again to enjoy the excellent service, food and dining experience!!!
We had been waiting to eat here for almost 4 years and decided to finally make the trip( it's about 4 hours) My husband and I try places that aren't chain and then write a review . Boy, was this place a huge disappointment. I was so excited to try the 'pig head' we had seen on tv, but let down once we got there. We got there at 2 and had to order the brunch menu ...we asked do we have to? We brought others along with since we had talked it up so much, they too, were equally excited. We were told we had to order brunch. When we tried to order the 'face and eggs' we were told it takes a long time, way over an hour, are you sure you don't want something better? So we ordered something , it was a huge let down! We got our food and I only ate 1/2 of it because well, it was horrible. One of the four people we came with had the same problem I did, did we order chicken with our sauce? The burger was ordered medium and was well done, the only thing not worth complaining about was the chicken and waffles-they were by far-the best item we ordered out of all of us and we all ended up sharing it together. This place was a huge disappointment... with a reservation , and the place was near empty, having to wait for almost 20 mins to sit down was puzzling-I should have taken that as a sign- truly disappointed-I cringed when I had to the bill for food that just plain sucked! I like to end the review on a good note...the 'lady gaga' waitress we had was very professional and sweet-thank you 'lady gaga'
I was greeted promptly upon my arrival. The staff were all very pleasant and my food was served in a timely manner. I was there to have dinner before my concert. I had the Strip steak and it was cooked perfectly. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great experience.
Recommended by friends and it was no disappointment - outstandingly delicious! We had the pig head which was incredible. Not just the experience of it, but the flavor and tenderness made it standout. Well worth the slight wait (45 min) which can be filled with trying other smaller bites and good conversation. Don't miss the opportunity for this experience - well worth the visit
Greenhouse Tavern is our favorite restaurant in Cleveland. We travel to the city at least twice per year and each time we ensure we have enough time to dine at Greenhouse Tavern. The restaurant is a rustic gem. The tasting menu is a must. We have never been disappointed in anything we have had chosen to experience. It truly is a culinary adventure.
We have an almost 3, a 12 and a 26 year old. To be able to find a place that fits all of our needs is a phenomenal find. I must apologize to my server as she was hands down one of the best I’ve ever experienced, but I can’t recall her name (blonde hair about 5’5” - we sat at the far back round table - she ROCKS!!!)!
Amanda was one of the best servers I have ever encountered. We had a large party and she was extremely attentive to our requests. She even went above and beyond by hand making a drink that was not on their menu to help a birthday celebration. The food was great as well, but the service made this restaurant amazing.
Food was very good. The duck and lamb burger we cooked to perfection. We did have an issue with the whole party not being served at the same time and one persons meal was missing ingredients. The manager made up for this by offering a 40% discount off our bill.
