Booked for my parents 30th Anniversary dinner, very wonderful restaurant, experience, food and service. Everyone was extremely helpful and kind in helping me plan the outing and meal as a surprise. Even decorated a special table for the couple and let me bring in a cake. Absolutely the best place to go in the high country for special occasions and amazing food. Thank you so much Gamekeeper!

Hands down the best food I'vI've ever tasted! If you go, get the sampler platter for starters. The meats and dips were delicious!! I had the cocoa rubbed elk and blue mac and cheese. To die for!!!! Will definitely be returning. Well worth the 2 hr drive and the price paid for the meal.

We have been there twice in the last 2 months. Service was slow both times. They really need to work on that! Food was really good on the first visit...had elk and emu....but not so good on the second visit....they ran out of the oyster appetizer we wanted....and had to get the soup....pasta dish we had for dinner was just not good. It could have just been an off night, but we were celebrating a birthday so it was a little disappointing.

Our waitress, Taylor, was very informative and attentive. The sample grill platter for an appetizer was delicious and and helped us to make an excellent choice for our main dish.
The deserts were awesome. We were celebrating both a birthday and our anniversary. It was a nice surprise that a complementary desert was served and a beautiful lady sang a special rendition of a birthday song. Great memories were made. Thank you!

What a wonderful palce to have a meal. From the unique location to the outstanding choices in wild game, this place is a real gem. The Assorted game sampler is worth the drive alone. Teriffic sauces in a French style with perfectly cooked wild game. While expensive for the area, it is not out of line for sililarly priced places in a major metropolitan area. Considering the ambiance and viewws, it is a perfect spot for special occasions. Not to be missed when visiting the Boone area.

This restaurant has been around for years. It's up in the woods near Blowing Rock. The menu has a lot of game food, but always has a few standard dishes such as duck, trout etc. for diners who are not that adventurous in their tastes. They play wonderful Frank Sinatra etc. music and is just a picture perfect setting. Valet parking available. The road to the restaurant can be challenging in the dark, so try to eat there on the early side of the evening so you can leave before it's too dark or foggy.

My husband and I came to The Gamekeeper 2 years ago and had a fantastic experience. From scenery, to service, food, ambiance, everything was great and worth the money.
I made reservations 2 weeks in advance for our recent visit because we had a group of 8 and App State was playing Miami. It was a later reservation and we still had to wait for our table. Our server forgot one of our orders, so a couple shared a dinner. It took a while for a couple who brought their own wine to have it opened and glasses brought to table. We had a good time, but the service lacked. Would recommend w/caution.

We were celebrating a special event. The dining experience was the worst we have ever had and we have been there several times before. My mixed drink was ok (the same drink was excellent the night before) and my husband's beer was good. I have special dietary needs that were not met. I explained to our server what they were and also my husband expressed to the server how important it was. Evidently the server did not listen or did not explain to the chef the importance of them. I feel it's the server's job to explain to the chef what the customer wants! The rare steak (ordered medium) came back med well. The flavor was good even overcooked. I expressed my concern that it wasn't cooked as ordered. The other item was cooked similar to the original one that I couldn't eat. So I left it all on the plate. I ate the meat. They did not listen. They offered us absolutely nothing for our special event except the bill. The Gamekeeper is a very expensive place to eat. We paid and left so we aren't planning on returning. There are other outstanding restaurants in the area.

A spectacular meal, starting with the new potato soup (wonderfully flavored with bacon) and the heirloom tomato, fried green tomato, and mozzarella appetizer(drizzled with balsamic vinegar with spots of Sriracha sauce). The main course, split between us, was the grilled emu with veggies. We had an excellent bottle of wine, 1/2 price on Thursdays. The care given to the sourcing of food, the cooking and the great service (Noah) makes it one of the best restaurants we have eaten at this year.

Again, a wonderful dining experience at the Gamekeeper. I had the albacore, my wife the beef tenderloin = both entrees were very tasty, done to perfection. Service, as always was impeccable. We'll be back before we return to Florida.
