We have enjoyed your luncheons this semester. It is indeed a great experience for our students as well as faculty and staff. The food is superb. We like the professionalism and pride that the students are learning to be effective in the job market today. The culinary department displays strong leadership skills while students are engaged in the dining process. Thanks again for the fabulous luncheons!!!!
The Culinary Department is "FABULOUS."
The menu of the day is tailored to a regional cuisine. For example, Greek and Middle Eastern on this occasion. Starting in the fall it is a buffet that offers a wide selection of offerings that are prepared by the students of Sandhills Community College's , Hospitality and Culinary Arts school. It includes breads, appetizers, entrees and desserts. There is lots of food and it is all excellent. Service by the students is also excellent. I believe it changes to a sit down meal during the second half of the school year. Reservations are required.
They have take out boxes available for those who wish to "grab and go".
This was my first visit but not my last. The Middle East/Greece cuisine was out of this world. The flavors were unique and that was a special treat, too. It's nice to enjoy food where the chefs take liberty in making the food taste a little different than the "traditional" recipe. The staff/students/volunteers went out of their way to make us feel like their most important patrons of the day. Thank you SCC!
Food is always wonderful. I do think this time the empanades dough was a bit too thick & not flaky. Considering all that was offered at this Mexican lunch this is not a criticism just my opinion. Everything else was great! There are always wonderful treats, imaginative food offerings and great service. Each time is a different ethnic food.....Next week Italian...can't wait.
This was my first experience with the SCC luncheons, recommended to me by several local friends. The students in the Culinary Arts, Baking, and Hospitality programs did an outstanding job planning, preparing, serving, and assuring we had a positive experience. Thanks to Fiona McKenzie, lead instructor in the programs!
We enjoyed the salsa and guacamole. Others at the table enjoyed the flank steak...I don't eat steak but others enjoyed it. The stuffed habeneros (?) could have been cooked more, I believe. I have never ate them anyplace other than SCC so I really don't know how they should be prepared but the cheese was not melted. Everything else was great and of course we loved the desserts.
I've been a fan of the program for years. I've invited friends to join me and they also "shout your praise". The food, student chefs are professional, friendly, and "on point". I will continue to come at least once a semester and include at least one additional friend.
We have been to the Sandhlls Dining program several times in the last couple of years and each time has been a pleasurable experience. What great service,attention and concern for the participants!!! The variety of food, quality,and preparation is exceptional. Thanks for a great time and we are happy to support Sandhills Community College.
I HAVE BEEN TO MANY OF YOUR LUNCHES OVER THE YEARS AND ALWAYS ENJOYED THEM. THE FOOD IS EXCEPTIONAL AND THE PRESENTATION IS BEAUTIFUL...PARTICULARY THE DESSERTS. THE SERVERS ARE ALWAYS HELPFUL AND THE ATMOSPERE IS FRIENDLY.
JUST A QUESTION FOR YOU. DO YOU EVER CONSIDER PRINTING THE YEARS RECIPES IN A BOOK AND SELLING THEM? I AM SURE IT COULD BE A GREAT MONEY MAKER. THERE ISN'T A MEAL I'VE HAD THAT I WOULDN'T LOVE TO HAVE THE RECEIPE.

The food is always special but this this it was outstanding! The risotto with peas and truffle butter was over the top....I could have made a meal out of that. It was followed by an outstanding blend of favors & textures in the form of a tender pork chop accompanied bt mashed potatoes with a prune topping. Dessert was to die for! Yummmmmmmmy.
