We loved our experience there for our 30th Anniversary, we wanted it special and it was better than even expected. Everyone was great there!
Our waiter made amazing recommendations. The filet was cooked perfectly. We had reservations at another restaurant and while waiting for those, we were browsing other local menus. Decided to try for a last minute reservation and we were SO happy we did! The only downfall was my husband had thrown out his back the day before and the bathroom was downstairs, which was hard for him to do the stairs. But the food, ambiance and service were all impeccable!
They made my 50th Birthday very memorable from soup to dessert. Definitely going back for our next special occasion.
The special Shrimp appetiser was outstanding as was the Beef Wellington.
What a wonderful birthday dinner, and of course to finish up with a great cigar and a very fine adult festive beverage . Going there is such a great experience. The wonderful staff and management and of course the head Chef Zak make you feel at home. This is my "Cheers" !
Thank you to everyone there for making my birthday such wonderful time.
God Bless you all.
Birthday. Great service. Ambiance is awesome here
Fantastic food, very knowledgeable wait staff. They made excellent recommendations. Service was excellent. But as with every high end steak house, it was very pricy. Wine bottles marked up 400%. Steak was worth it.
I have dinned at this restaurant several times over the years Which has always been a pleasure because of the amazing food and waitstaff. However, my last few visits have been on a personal note (not business related) in which we were placed in the basement dining area. Maybe we look too young, or we’re not dressed up as nice as others however, I have every right to eat at this restaurant and can afford to do so and would like to be treated the same as everyone else. Thank you for making me feel like a second-class citizen. We were celebrating our seventh wedding anniversary in which I noted on the reservation however I had to inform the restaurant when we arrived.
Excellent service. Cowboy steak was pretty good. If it wasn’t a birthday celebration I don’t think I would order a $53 steak.
I don't think I would recommend the Chop House. The steak wasn't anything great; it was good but not great. The cost of the side dishes were way too expensive for what we got. It was way too dark to the point that we could not even see the receipt. Whoever we gave a tip too, I hope it was enough; if it was too much well then enjoy, cause we won't be back. The food was way too salty there wasn't enough asparagus to share. Way too many salty potatoes!! Salt, salt, salt!! my goodness. Way overboard on the salt.
My recommendation; 1. turn on the lights! 2. come down on the cost of side dishes. 3. use less salt...a lot less salt. 4. just serve us..no need for a production; I wasn't expecting a performance of Beauty and the Beast.
Hope this helps!
Such a wonderful experience! Our waitress, Katie, was such a delight & top notch service. The food, wine & cocktails could not have been any better. It was perfect.
Prefer Ruth's Chris located directly across the street. Went to Chop House and ordered the exact same thing that we always get at Ruth's Chris to compare flavor and value. Chop House didn't win. We prefer Ruth's Chris.
There was a large group that ordered before. The steak I ordered medium and I got it med rare (totally fine). I would’ve eaten the steak at the temp, but the steak was flat out cold. Other than that hiccup everything else was amazing. Waiter was great & the whole staff all the way up to the manager was great.
Another amazing meal at the Chop House. Hannah, our server, was awesome! Food was delicious and the atmosphere is always romantic and comfortable.
The food was as good as always. Was a little chagrined that they brought out the completely wrong order for one of our guests. This isn’t what I would usually anticipate from The Chop House.
Great food and service!! Great meal to celebrate an occasion
We love The Chop House. It’s one of our favorite restaurants. The food is amazing & the service is outstanding.
We went there to celebrate a special birthday. Friendly greeter, who acknowledged that it was a special occasion. Led to a cozy booth with subdued lighting and that set a nice tone for enjoyable dining. Our waiter, John, was attentive, informative and personable. He made us feel welcome and comfortable and he did not make us feel rushed to make cocktail and dinner choices. We were able to relax and appreciate the ambience. The food was nicely presented and delicious. Struggled with what to order for the entre, and John provided descriptions and details about the 2 dishes I was considering. Ordered the sea bass and it was phenomenal. Dinner partner's steak was butterflied and cooked to his satisfaction (Well done. Not my choice!) Side dishes are huge and could easily serve 4 people. Ended up bringing home enough food for another dinner at home! Would love to go back, although will have to make it another special occasion, as it is quite pricey, but worth it overall.
Over priced! $7-$10 for a bottle of beer and $15 and up for a glass of wine is out of line. Steak was ok, not great, but was $20 over priced. The sides were generous but expensive and should come with the entree.
We had a delicious meal with fantastic service. It was our first time at the chop house and we plan to return soon.
The food was Amazing and Britany was a fantastic server!
Second time dining at The Chop House and I couldn't have been happier. Took my wife there for our anniversary and our dinner and service were perfect!
Service was awesome and the food tasted amazing
I love that it was 50% off due to the birthday deal. My husband absolutely loved it. I just think I ordered the wrong thing. Lobster was really bland. The garlic mash potatoes had no salt or garlic in them at all. I wish I would have ordered something else but it was about my husbands birthday and he absolutely loved it!!! Thank u for an awsome date!!! We will be back.
Best restaurant in GR.
Excellent wait staff. Excellent food. It is on the high side but worth it. Romantic mood lighting and they have a cigar bar downstairs if interested.
Lovely atmosphere and attention to detail. Great service and food.
The food was outstanding as was the wait staff. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. It is a little louder than I prefer, but overall a great experience.
For a high end restaurant, it was a pleasure to have such a friendly staff at every turn. They were all so gracious and kind. It makes the chop house the best.
Great food and a very knowledgeable staff!
Our meal was great as usual. We wanted to put in a good word for our server Jamieson. He was wonderful. Attentive and efficient but not obnoxious. He engaged us in great conversation. He knew the menu extremely well and helped us with our order. We would definitely request him if he is available the next time we come back.
It has been a few years since I have been here, we were seated near the kitchen door which was rather loud, it would have been nice to have a table that was more quiet, even though we had gotten reservations way early for our dinner we were still put near there. The service was fabulous. Our dinner was exceptional except one area, the broccoli seemed to be over cooked, it was a little like mush, I and my wife would prefer to have it so it is not cooked like that.
Over than that we did enjoy
Still the best filet in Grand Rapids! And, if you get "John" as your server, then all the better!
Food and Service were great! Had a table of 8 and we all had great food!
First time visit and the service was great. I did go there on my birthday for the special but I'll be back soon for date night.
I am a steakhouse snob and always preferred Ruth's Chris over any steak house. I will now only go to the Chop House when I am in the mood for a great steak. I have never been disappointed when dining at the Chop House and always look forward to going.
From the moment we walked in the ambiance was inviting and warm. We loved every moment. The appetizers were delicious, the French onion soup was amazing. We both had the bone in filet and it was cooked to perfection. Our waitress was June. She was attentive, and extremely kind. We would definitely go back!
Our waitress was excellent! I am unable to eat a steak, but my husbands was perfect! The crab lobster cakes were too breads for me. I'd go with something else next time. We were sad to discover they were out of their amazing au gratin potatoes. Relaxing, pampered atmosphere made it a special evening.
Food was amazing and the staff was beyond amazing! ! Karly, our waitress, made everything perfect! So friendly and thoughtful. Really showed that she cared for the customer and wanted them to enjoy their meal. Her recommendations where spot on and her asking if wanted a picture to capture the moment, those are the extra details that really put your restaurant over the top for us and we can't thank you enough.
Based on reviews, we made a reservation here for our 28th anniversary. Food was DELICIOUS, but our server made us feel rushed the entire meal. She asked to take away the bread plate even though we had eaten only ONE piece of the bread, she asked to take my husband's appetizer plate when 1/2 of his appetizer was still on it. She then came by the table when he was 1/2 way through his steak, and STILL had his knife and fork in his hand, and asked if we needed "a box". At that point, I asked her if there was some sort of time limit on the table. DEFINITELY NOT the tone we were looking for to celebrate. As good as the food was, we won't be back, and don't recommend if you're looking to spend time eating a great meal. It could have just been the server, I didn't notice any other tables in our area being rushed in this manner....
Our server was very attentive and pleasant. Food came out timely and prepared perfectly!
