The Cellar Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Lina, Sergio and the Staff are so kind and inviting to their restaurant. The food is exquisite every time we dine here and the specials of the evening are very creative and delicious. This is a favorite "special occasion" venue for us and is the epitome of fine dining.
Wait staff and service were excellent. Wine list very extensive. The food quality disappointed us. Appetizers were only fair at best. My entre, shrimp with snapper, was pretty good although the shrimp were a bit over done. My wife thought she was taking a risk, but ordered the boneless stuffed rabbit (a special) anyway. Big mistake. I rated my dish 4 of 5. She gave the rabbit a 2. The dessert, billed as a fresh peach tart with fresh berries was a slice of pie topped with thin peach slices under a glaze and topped with three berries. We rated it a 2. The wine, a Super Tuscan was very nice.
Halfway through our dinner the quiet table of four beside us morphed into a very loud six top, passing their cell phone cameras around and playing "can you top this" with their travels. The room is small, the ceiling is low, so the acoustics require that adjacent diners be considerate.
I doubt that we will return.
What a unique atmosphere, the home of President Horace Harding and a historic landmark as well. The staff was very friendly, yet allowed us to enjoy our meal in private. We were the only patrons in the upstairs dining room as we chose an early reservation. So it was like a private dining room so fitting for the occasion - our 49th Anniversary.
The food was fabulous. I had the veal porcini and my husband had the lamb shank.
It was our first time at The Cellar and we could not have chosen a more wonderful restaurant to celebrate.
Can't wait to go back!
We were seated downstairs in the cozy wine cellar where there are only about 7-8 tables. The ambiance was very nice with Tiffany panels, tablecloths and of course, racks of wine bottles. We sat for awhile before being served water and bread but the bread was wonderful. We shared first an appetizer of Portebella mushroom caps with Gorgonzola and a delicious sauce. Next we shared an insalata Del sol which was also delicious and very fresh. My husband had perciatelli carbonara which was presented beautifully. The pasta was tender and tasty and the sauce was creamy although my husband would've preferred a little less prosciutto. I had the veal scalloppine with artichokes and a lemon butter sauce. The veal was tender and tasty and my husband would order that the next time we go. I would opt to try something else. The fresh vegetables were fresh and done perfectly but my favorite was the potato gratinee which was scrumptious. We topped off our meal with the chocolate mousse which was heavenly.
This is a true gem. The menu offers a wide range of items and this last time dining four of us all tried something new. We enjoyed 4 appetizers then shared a pasta carbonara. The pasta was cooked perfectly and dish was truly delicious with a touch of cream and bacon. For entrees we had the Osso buco , salmon and two veal dishes (one with mushrooms and cream the other with artichokes and sundries tomatoes.) All the enteees were accompanied with perfectly cooked fresh veggies and a potato au gratin. The veal was tender, the osso buco braised to fall off the bone quality and the salmon super fresh. All seasoned wonderfully. We left very satisfied and cannot wait to return.
My wife and I went here for our anniversary. It's a very cozy place with outstanding food and service. The only complaint we had was it was so loud it was difficult to have a conversation. Great place for a special occasion but a little expensive to go very often. We would go again for some other special dinner.
We have dined here on several occasions. We were looking forward to taking our son. He is from Charleston. The evening started out ok. Our appetizers came, he had the crab cake ... it was outstanding, our salads were just alright (nothing you couldn't do at home)
My gnocchi bologneese dish was tasty but the gnocchi were too tough or thick( did not eat all) My son ordered the fish that was featured that evening(small portion) it was oily and he couldn't even pierce any of the vegetables with his fork...he left most of his meal on the plate...Underwhelming!
The waitress never checked on us or asked how things were. When we said something about our son's dish we were told "that's how chef cooks the dish"this was per Lena, chef's wife who works front of house. Our son has cooked for a lot of famous people while in Charleston. So glad he didn't have the arrogant attitude that these people seem to have when a dish doesn't live up to a customers expectations
Best steak we have had for a while, great small intimate atmosphere. Great food, wine and service. Quick note, if you run early like my wife and I, we were there 30 minutes early to our reservation. The table was not ready yet, and they have no bar, no biggie, but go across the street to the Thai place, they have a great outdoor patio with a bar, we had a glass of wine till our reservations.
The Cellar was so friendly and great service and food!.....Thanks again!>.. S & H
The Cellar is a wonderfully fine dining experience. The menu is filled with specialties that are hard to find anywhere else in central Florida. The ambiance is warm, cozy and romantic. I dined on the pheasant and rabbit sausage and it was an amazing dish. I highly recommend the Cellar . The staff and service was phenomenal. This is one of Florida's best kept secret.
We don't understand all of the hype. On our trip to Daytona, this was number 4 on our 'what dinner we liked best' out of the five dinners we had in the Daytona area. Out of the 2 Italian restaurants we tried, this was number 2. We don't drink wine so we can't comment on the selection. The bread and oil was standard fare for Italian. The pasta we had was lacking flavor. We found the decor a bit old. Perhaps we went on an 'off' night so we say, give it a try.
My meal was fantastic, my wifes, not so. She said it was bland, she is a food critic. Seemed pricey for pasta , not worth $. Ambiance was fantastic. Great find, but for only special occasions, not regular dining. Too pricey on just about everything. Servers seemed rushed as well, no real patience with customers, maybe because it was an 8:00 resv. And closing at 9:00 on sunday, it shouldnt matter, but it showed. Not good
From beginning to end, the service was remarkable! Starting off with the appointment reservation was scheduled and having the table ready. Waiter told us of the specials and gave us a book of wine selection. Being attentive of our drinks the whole evening and making sure they were never empty. Food came out and both plates looked amazing. Wife had the lamb while I had the filet mignon. Both delicious! Chardonnay (glass) was perfect temperature and remained so the whole evening. Couldn't have asked for a better evening for this newly wed couple!
