The Capital Grille - Pittsburgh Ratings and Reviews
The quality of the food, wines and attentive service at this high-end chop house is most notable. We indicated celebrating a birthday and they made the event very special. The service staff were busy, which prevented their serving items ordered from the sides menu (something experienced at Ruth Chris or Flemings). We had a couple of large, boisterous groups nearby, which affected the ambiance making it difficult for our table of 4 to carry on a normal conversation; we used hand signals to communicate at more than one point during the meal. Overall, The Capital Grille was a great venue to enjoy our special occasion.
Had a great meal for two, the steaks were superb. The wine list was extensive and approachable without being pretentious. Lobster bisque was available off menu and delicious. Despite being the eve of the Steeler's home opener IN Pittsburgh, the wait staff hustled and made sure everyone was taken care of.
We had reservations for the dining room, but found 2 very good end seats at the bar and decided to stay at the bar for dinner. The servers were absolutely fantastic, very attentive and very personable. Food was fabulous, but very overpriced. Enjoyable evening celebrating our wedding anniversary.
The food was great but we were seated at the worst table conceivable. We were at the intersection of 4 main aisles as well as near the end of the bar. It ruined what would have been a good meal. Don't know why we were treated like unwanted stepchildren, but we won't be back.
One of the worst meals I've had in quite awhile. Ordered the filet oscar style, medium rare. The waiter explained that it would be red inside, warm. It was raw, with only barely the outer perimeter browned. The steak itself was chewy and sinewy. The hollandaise sauce tasted like it was out of a packet - of thick consistency and with heavy flour. The temperature of the sauce was luke warm. The green beans that I ordered as my side dish were overcooked to the point of mush. I was there on business, entertaining a client, therefore I didn't complain at the time, but will not be going back any time soon.
This is one of my favorite "special occasion" restaurant. Rebecca was an excellent server and extremely attentive. My filet was cooked to perfection(as it always is). It was a friend's birthday. There was a thoughtful card at the table and she received a lovely, tasty dessert with a lit candle. Very nice!!
38th anniversary dinner this time... Always top notch food and preparation. Steaks are the best of anywhere I've ever eaten. (Need to order steak here even if vegetarian.) I like the atmosphere with open kitchen-style dining room - reminds me of favorite places in Charleston. Service was attentive, anticipatory and unobtrusive. Did a wine flight instead of a bottle - very good choices and lots of fun. CG does up anniversaries with complimentary card, flutes of Champagne and small desserts. My wife loved it! Our waiter Jay was the best.
We went for restaurant week and definitely felt rushed...and my husband thought his steak was just ok...and we have dined here numerous times so we know what the normal service is like...this has always been our #1 restaurant so I'm hoping this was just because it was restaurant week and not the new norm. Our waitress was asking to take plates before we were even ready
Went here for our anniversary and for the Restaurant Week menu. Food was delicious (Filet Mignon and Filet + Shrimps). Drinks were also very good. As for the service, 6 stars! Our table had been decorated with little hearts, every server wished us a happy anniversary and we got 2 complementary champagne glasses to celebrate. Thank you!
Had good food & nice time as per usual. We select it for birthdays because it is one of our favorites for steak. It was very busy for a Tuesday night & was a bit loud where we were seated, but overall it was very nice experience. Our waitress, Shirley was ver y attentive & friendly.
