The Capital Grille - NY – Time Life Building Ratings and Reviews
Food was amazing and consistent with previous visits. The Soy Brussel Sprouts with Bacon was our vegetable side of choice and was superb. Steak was cooked to perfection and fork cut tender. Our waiter Terrelle was very helpful, accommodating and in touch with us throughout our dining experience. Overall a 5 star dinner experience.
Made a very last minute reservation and needed to eat quickly to attend a show. I was seated at one of my favorite booths and paired me with Jose, who ably took care of my order. He served my three courses in timely, but never rushed, fashion and I left full and happy.
Two couples met for pre-theater dinner. Wait staff responsive to our time schedule,
made good suggestions. All ordered from pre-theater menu---which was a great value option:
appetizer, main , dessert. Filet was grilled to perfection, salad was fresh with tangy dressing, chocolate for dessert. GREAT!!!
Angela was very friendly and knowledgable. The table was setup with birthday confetti and a greeting card as I have mentioned in the reservation that it was my brother’s birthday. She was very thorough and made sure that we got everything we need. She even asked if we do have time constraint as we dined during lunch time. We were given a taste of stoli doli drink which we will definitely come back for. Our experience with Angela and the bus boy was fabulous! I hope she’ll be our server the next time we dine.
Capital is amongst our favorite to dine with! Food is always outstanding! Service is attentive and ambiance is appealing! Business class crowds attract a particular clientele and leave you feeling comfortable in your surroundings. Wether it’s a typical weekend dining out experience or a special occasion they’re perfect for all!
A good, solid steak house. Noisy and vibrant but fun. Staff are pleasant and engaging. Oysters excellent. The food is very good but portions are enormous, far too big for the average person. I'm neither slim nor cheap nor against any restaurant's right to make things as they please. I would make a case that the servers should tell people about the portion sizes so they can adjust their orders accordingly. And remember that a martini up can hardly ever be too cold.
My companion wanted to come back specifically to have the lobster bisque. She thought it was the best she'd had in a long time and I agreed. Our server, Tim, was very helpful and patient with both of us, but especially when helping me choose a steak. Normally, I am a ribeye person, but Tim mentioned that the bone-in filet mignon special was exceptionally good. I took a really long time deciding, but eventually circled back to the bone-in filet. I was shocked at how good one piece of meat could be. It was life changing and costly, but I will never forget it. Meals like this keep me coming back. Thanks very much to Tim for his patience and great good humor.
Great place for a pre-theatre meal, but be aware that you have to ask for the special pre-theatre menu. It's a three course meal for $39 and will save you a lot over normal prices. Fortunately for us, the entrees we wanted (salmon and lamb chops) were among the offerings on this menu, so it was perfect. We ate upstairs and appreciated the lower noise level of this location. Our reservation was at 6 pm and we finished in time to walk around the corner for The Book of Mormon. Food was up to the Capital Grille's usual high standards. Bonnie was a very attentive and helpful server. Two big thumbs up for the whole experience.
My filet mignon was delicious, cooked perfectly. My husband said the NY strip steak was amazing. The tuna tartare appetizer was delicious. We ordered the brussel sprouts as a side and they were awesome. Love the ambience and the service was friendly and very attentive. We'll definitely be going back.
Our pre-theater meal was absolutely delicious. We are still talking about it days later. I told them ahead of time it was a special occasion birthday and they had the table decorated festively and brought cheesecake with candles at the end of the meal. So glad we chose Capital Grille for this big birthday celebration !
Our food was poorly done and tasteless. I had the scallops main dish. The scallops were just ok, perhaps a bit overcooked and dry. The risotto was dry and tasteless. The potatoes au gratin were a disaster - dry, tasteless, and with heaps of bacon bits (too much) over them.
Horrible noise, felt like I was in a sports bar, with group next to me literally screaming at each other. I like a good time, but this is supposed to be a fine dining restaurant, not a frat house. Someone who appeared to be a manager was on the floor, but did nothing about it. Service was virtually nonexistent during my meal. When the waiter did finally come by and ask how everything was I told her how disruptive the groups was...she just looked at me and walked away. OK, I guess that’s New York. I’m from Seattle. The Capital Grill there is a first class restaurant. Food was average. All in all, a disappointment.
Always a lovely time at Capital Grille, even though we were a tad bit too loud laughing (sorry), we were having fun and our waiter, Anthony was fabulous! They always have professional staff here (at least based on my experiences). Can never go wrong with this restaurant. Ambience is splendid. Plenty options for all dietary preferences. And great for almost any occasion for adults! Definitely one of my favorites!
This Capitol Grill not only is in a fantastic location, but the service and food are above normal for this group of restaurants (not a chain, but a group of excellent restaurants.) Our waiter Edgar was more than superior. Please ask for him and you will be rewarded.
We are frequent visitors to this location because we live around the corner. They never seem to fail in providing a quality dinner and good service. Our waiter was new so it was not an issue as we know the menu up and down. The only pitfall was that they have changed items on the menu that we love (side lobster tail, cream corn). This forced us to order the soy glazed brussel sprouts which we did no like, thank god the Sam's mashed made up for it. Hopefully they will bring them back in the future. All in all I love the Capital Grill and would recommend it to anyone.
We had such a great time at the Time Life location! Anthony, our waiter, was attentive and didn't miss a beat! We got lucky to sit at a table in a private room which was not only special but worked out perfectly for my Grandpa who wears a hearing aid and is very hard of hearing. I have eaten here numerous times for birthdays and special occasions and we will continue to come back!
