The Capital Grille - Minneapolis Ratings and Reviews

Our dining experience at the Capital Grille has become tradition. We try to eat there once a year as a celebration for something going on in our lives. I would recommend the Capital Grille to anyone and everyone. Steak is fantastic and priced well for the quality received. Service is excellent and the wine selection is extravagant. Don't leave without trying the flourless chocolate cake. This is also an excellent choice for people that suffer from Celiac disease or someone trying to avoid gluten.

Took my fiance here for date night and were treated wonderfully. The server greeted me by my last name, water and bread at the table within seconds, drinks came promptly, food came out fresh and hot, all while the place was at capacity which says a lot about the efficiency here. Can't wait to come back again :)

Very good steakhouse in the heart of downtown. A huge perk is that they provide free valet parking after 5:00 pm. Service is always superior. Not cutting-edge gourmet for foodies but they know their base and they do it well. The bone-in ribeye is our favorite.

Wow!! We went to the Capital Grille for Restaurant Week and for dinner before a show at the State Theatre. We had fantastic food and excellent service! Full size salad or bowl of soup with a basket of different types of bread started us out. Followed by an 8 oz filet mignon that was prepared perfectly and was accompanied by mashed potatoes and French green beans - and if that wasn't enough, dessert choices of either creme brûlée or flourless chocolate espresso cake completed the meal. Incredible food for $35 a person!! We had wanted to go to this restaurant many times before but couldn't get in - we are so glad we were able to get a reservation this time! The waitstaff was top-notch as well. We will be back!!

Food and service are always outstanding. Among the top five restaurants for steak and seafood in Minneapolis. Location in middle of theatre district is a big plus. However, Capital Grill is very expensive ... at least $100 per person.

Our food was quite good. The scallops were perfectly cooked in a delicious sauce. The steak was cooked to perfection. However, the lamb chops were served "medium" rather than medium rare plus and were a bit too dry. The salads were just fine. The service was a bit too hectic. I had to signal the waiter several times to get his attention because the restaurant was too crowded. Too many noisy drinkers at the bar.

Tried out the Capital Grille as it was near the State Theater and we wanted someplace to eat nearby prior to the Celtic Thunder concert. Saw the reviews and thought we would try it and I'm glad we did. Food was superb and our server, Jim, was excellent. Will definitely come back. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but the food was definitely worth it. Had an incredible evening with the food and the concert.

The service and food were top notch. The prices were comperable to other fine dining establishments downtown. Free valet parking and I was able to keep my car their while going to my show. They also held our leftovers for us until after the show. So many positives I can't record them all in a review. Our first time will not be our last.

I had made a 5:30pm reservation to have dinner before a show at the Target Center. One of the hostesses was a bit rude. We arrived at a few minutes late for our reservation. I had called en route to report traffic. (There was complementary valet service which was great). The restaurant was not full at all upon our arrival. The hostess stated that we had passed the 15 minute grace period. I told her that I had called en route to report my likely late arrival. She stated that we had to be out by 8:00 pm in time for her next reservation. Really!!!!!!!
It was 5:50 pm! I had no intention to stay there past 7:15 pm. The waiter asked if we had plans to attend a show. We were promptly served delicious food and were out in time for our 7:30pm show to the tune of $300.00.
Our waiter was great!
I did not appreciate the attitude of the hostess!! She spoiled what was otherwise a nice dining experience.
I am sure the manager appreciates my business and $300.00.

One of the best restaurants in the Twin Cities. While this is a small chain it does not feel that way at all. Incredible attention from the time you walk in until you leave. The staff and management should all be commended on how they treat their clients. Very special place. Food is wonderful. They have a terrific hamburger--it's not on the menu! So don't tell them I told you.
Steaks and fish and seafood are just tops. You cannot go wrong here.

Food and service excellent. Help for disabled person with walker lacking. Stood leaning on walker for 10 minutes while waiting for car. THERE IS NO RAMP INSIDE restaurant to reach some seating. Manager and reception desk needs to be more responsive to needs of disabled

I've been to CG many times, and my overall experience has been very positive. Great food, great service, good vibe to the restaurant - honestly everything you should expect of a high-end steakhouse.
On this visit (9/4/16), upon being seated, our waiter came to the table immediately and said "We noticed you haven't been here since November of 2014 and that night you had a bad experience with a server not being as attentive as he should have been. We want to apologize for that, so tonight your appetizers are comped." What? Wow.
My wife reminded me of that visit (it hand't been our most recent, but apparently only our most recent OpenTable reservation) and I did remember the scenario that wasn't really terrible service - just not what you'd expect at CG.
Regardless, the food and service on this most recent visit were absolutely fantastic. The server didn't need to comp the appetizers (or the unexpected dessert) but their attention to detail and commitment to customer service 2 years after a hiccup was impressive. That's the type of thing I think sets a place like this apart and help them create loyal customers for life. We were truly impressed.
