The Capital Grille - Indianapolis Ratings and Reviews

We were drawn downtown to CG for devour indy. I thought the price/value was fantastic. I have eaten at the CG many times. First time ever I was a little disappointed with my Steak (bone in NY strip). I asked for medium rare and it was most certainly medium (funny thing... I happened to notice the guy at the table next to me ordered the same steak medium rare and gotta say his looked great!). FWIW... the server did ask "how is everything" but I think since they are so used to happy/positive answers she turned away before I could actually say my steak was a little more than med rare. All in all, the steak was good (not great) but all in it was a good value and enjoyable evening.

The food was delicious! Yes, it was expensive, but it is worth the money for the quality/amount of food you get. The atmosphere was great and it was an enjoyable experience. The service was exceptional. If you are going out for a special occasion I would highly recommend The Capital Grille!

As usual, delightful business lunch experience. Had the Cobb salad which was uniquely presented on a large plate with a generous tomato slice and blue cheese wedge in the center with mixed greens, crispy bacon strips, avocado, sliced hard boiled egg with a beautifully grilled bone in chicken breast. Superb as was the service.

Our food was delicious as always. We were celebrating our daughter and her husband's 25th wedding anniversary. I had specifically requested a Bill Turner as a server for the evening since we personally know him, and was assured that would happen along with a special table. It turned out that Bill Turner was not working that evening and the table we received, while nicely decorated with rose petals, was the table just inside the dining room where the bar floor and restaurant carpet begins. Our server did a great job and the rose petals were very thoughtful but the table lacked the ambiance location I expected to see for this occasion.

We celebrated our son's White Coat Day (start of medical school) at the Capital Grille, and it was just perfect: great service and food; quiet, elegant ambiance. Will certainly come back when we get to Indianapolis.

the service was PERFECT ! ..It started with a HAND WRITTEN Anniversary card and ended with a "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate on a dessert plate. Was it pricey ?, sure , you know that walking in the front door. But for special occasions it is WELL WORTH it.

We were there to celebrate my son's 14th birthday. A BIG thank you to the staff that made him feel so grown-up! In addition, my husband has celiac disease and they paired our table with a gluten-intolerant waitress who completely understood cross-contamination -- we felt totally at ease! Amazing!

My wife and I went for the bone-in filet special and they were absolutely the best cut, best-cooked pieces of beef we've ever eaten. We raise raise beef, my wife and I love to cook/grill, but the perfect char/sear with warm red center and flavor enhanced by the bone were beyond anything we'd ever eaten. St Elmo's can grill a darned good steak but on Friday, July 2, 2016 the Capital Grill absolutely me and my wife away. (The lobster Mac n Cheese was also remarkable).

I have been to several Capital Grill restaurants and I often try to book at least one meal when in a town with a CG. However, after this experience and several others, I am not convinced that Capital Grill is worth the money. My ribeye was terrible and the lobster bisque was watered down with very little flavor. My wife found the salmon to be adequate but not outstanding. The bottle of wine we order was poorly presented and poured. I wanted to take the waiter aside and teach him how to properly pour wine into a glass.

The best dessert I have ever had IN MY LIFE! My husband saved and treated me to dinner at The Capital Grille. The experience was amazing and I cannot wait to return. My steak au poivre was perfection and the sauce was beyond delicious. My husband's steak, if possible, was better than mine (I think the aged bourbon sauce put it over the top). There are two things that put this experience over the top....our waitress Stephanie and the coconut cream pie! I have never tasted anything so delectable in my years and I have had A LOT of desserts! We will definitely return and I hope my new best friend will be there to greet me and send me on my way with a smile :)
Our waiter was very nice and took very good care of me and my wife. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that likes to have a awesome steak at a good price. Even the manager stop by to congratulate us on our 35th anniversary. We will definitely be back very soon.
Capital Grille never disappoints!
My 14 year old son and I were in town for the race and hit 3 steak houses in a row Friday-Sunday nights. All were great but Capital Grille the best. Always great service and food, great wine list, and super accomadating. We'll definitely be back!
