The Capital Grille - Chestnut Hill Ratings and Reviews
We were celebrating my husband's birthday - the table was set with sparkles - there was a birthday card signed by the staff and a cheesecake - chocolate flourless cake sampler - all nice touches. Our server was very accommodating - we didn't like the first wine we chose - she suggested another which was very good. The service was excellent.
We visited with my mother-in-law for a dual birthday celebration. Capital Grille is not a "family" restaurant per say (no children's menu, very expensive) but they were incredibly accommodating to our two children. The food was excellent and our waiter was perfectly attentive. A wonderful celebration overall.
An establishment that rests on it's history as how I would describe Capital Grille. We ordered the special beet salad and it was anything but special. I have had better salads in Mississippi. The steak was fine but for $69 I had to ask what was I getting. A lot of extra hype for a $25 steak. This steak in the Midwest at this price would not even be on the menu. It would be an embarrassment. This establishment could do MUCH better and should.
I've been here a few times and generally like tis restaurant, but find their steaks inconsistent from visit to visit. This time I found my steak, while cooked to my Medium-rare request, to be dry/chewy on the outside, and quite bland tasting. It tasted like it was cooked, and then left under a lamp for some time. I did not enjoy it. In these type of establishments, consistency is key as steaks are the read and butter of the establishments and should be done with perfection every time. This time, I felt I was at the Outback grill. Poor quality.
Only problem was we were a party of 6 and they put us at a small table. It seems like it was because we had kids- all the kids were in the same area of the restaurant ... not the "good" tables. This is always frustrating to be relegated to the back of the restaurant because we have children. They are well behaved and paying just as much to eat there!!!! My husband had to
Basically sit in the aisle because they crammed us into a table.
Had a great time. Food was excellent. I really appreciated when the manager came to ask us if everything was great and if we wer enjoying ourselves and if we needed anything else . That makes someone feel important and appreciated. I loved that special touch. Cannot wait for the next time. Great customer service!
As always, The Capital Grill delivers the greatest steaks in the world! Plus excellent service with every detail attended to. My only regret was that the server packed up half my steak and when I got home I realized I had left the bag on the table! Devastating! This is THE place for steak in the Boston area.
Last minute choice for a business dinner with colleagues. I had visited before and expected great food with terrific service. Capitol Grill did not disappoint. Fantastic NY Strip from special menu and the best Martini I have enjoyed in some time. A little pricey for everyday dining, but top choice for special occasions.
We celebrated our anniversary at Capitol Grille. We hadn't intended to mention this, but
before seating us the receptionist asked if it were a special occasion. From that point on the staff made it a very special anniversary dinner for us. Marcel, our waiter, even took a picture of us and then presented us with the photo on our way out.
Just massively overpriced for what it is. Especially wines by the glass. Service was solid. Ambiance is typical steakhouse; ie Morton's, Abe and Louis, etc. Food was good, but no where near worth the price points. It is easy nowadays to find superior fare at half these prices. For the wine list, they are charging 3-4x for what is reasonable. The ambiance is certainly attractive and well appointed, but pretty much the same thing as all the other restaurants of this ilk. There is enormous creativity happening at the moment in the Boston restaurant scene and this is a relic of the past at tomorrow's prices.
Our monthly Ladies Who Lunch chose this place as part of Restaurant Week and we were not disappointed. Service was great, food was excellent, portions and pricing were spot on. Could have done without the IPAD for the wine list unless you're going to give us the IPAD.
I have found all Capital Grilles to be a tad on the noisy side but I will definitely go back.
My friends and I always participate in Boston Restaurant week. It's an opportunity for us to try
top notch restaurants that we can't usually afford.
I was delighted with Capital Grille in Chestnut Hill. The table and ambiance was fabulous. Our waiter couldn't provide better service or information. He was great. He gave us all the time we needed and didn't rush us. It was a seamless operation and it was obvious how well the whole team worked together.
I had already viewed the menu on-line.
We both went with the Wedge Blue Cheese salad. Delicious! Not your everyday wedge. Then we had the dry aged steak with greens. Wasn't crazy for the peppers tossed in there, but I managed quite well. The steak... Outstanding!!! Cooked to my requirements. Perfect.
Desert was the crowning glory.. I had the Creme Brulee served with blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and a large half strawberry.
You scored a 10 out of 10 for us and we will definitely be back.
Congratulations and Thank you to all your staff for putting on a WONDERFUL meal.
