The Capital Grille - Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
It was wonderful as always. Very pricey but I know that when I come.
We had a side item that was forgotten and had to hurry and eat some of it before racing to get to our play. Service is always good and used valet service this time which made the experience so much more convenient.
This was our 5th meal at Capitol Grill. Our previous 4 meals were always incredible with the food as well as the service being just amazing. This time that wasn't the case.
Our server seemed overwhelmed and disorganized from the start and it didn't improve over the course of the meal. Our drinks took forever to arrive as did our apps & entrees. When it did arrive, the quality was there so that saved it from being too disappointing.
My hope is that this was just an off night and our next trip there will get us back to the kind of meal we expect at the Capital Grill.
The food is creative and delicious, the service is amazing and the overall experience is outstanding. Charlotte is so fortunate to have an incredible dining destination, especially right across the street from the Blumenthal Theatre. Parking is remarkably easy with their valet service. The appetizer menu contains the best calamari and peppers in the city. The steaks and lobster tails are fresh and grilled to perfection. Simply put, this is the place to complement a night at the theatre, to celebrate a special occasion or to impress a business client.
Food was good. But $9 for iceberg lettuce that is advertised as "field greens" is not worth it. NY strip was good but dry ( it may have been grass fed beef but was not advertised as such).
Server was conscientious and aware of our time constraints.
Overall it's a nice restaurant.
The steaks were not very warm when they came out, my whole family commented their meals were not all that good after we left and the next day. The hottest thing that came out from the kithen was one of the potatoe side dishes. I took my whole family since we received a gift card for Christmas and i can say this was not a good experience. I have dined here before and can say this was one of the worst in regards to the food. There are other steak houses in the Charlotte area comparable in price I would prefer and refer over Capital Grill.
We came during restaurant week in January. It was good but not great so we decided to give it another try. The bread is hard and almost inedible. The ambiance is great. It is a little hard to get to and parking is a nightmare unless you use valet. It is convenient to Blumenthal.
The old saying, 'you get what you pay for' is true here. Got A+ service and excellent food. Took away one star on the food because my filet came out medium instead of med-rare as I ordered but they did come immediately after serving and asked if all items were cooked as ordered. I simply did not want to hassle and wait and it was great as it was anyway. Other than that super great experience.
There was a time when Capital Grille was THE special occasion spot in Charlotte but with the ever-expanding restaurant scene those days are over. Everything we ordered was just okay - steaks were average, side dishes were average, cocktail was average. Nothing was bad but nothing really stood out about the meal or the experience which is disappointing when you spend $250 for dinner for two. With all of the other options available in Charlotte, we have no need to return to Capital Grille.
I know this was a great place to dine as soon as I walked the door with my guests. We were greeted in seconds and shown to our table. ALL the staff on the way to the table greeted us and welcomed us. We were celebrating 2 birthdays and they had handwritten cards for the two people. There was confetti on the table, very celebratory. The waiter was very accommodating and extremely friendly. They even brought out two little deserts with candles in them at the end of the meal, complimentary. Expect to spend about $100 person and a bit more if you buy alcohol.
Great place to have a wonderful dinner.
Chose CG for our 30th anniversary...and we were not disappointed. Maitre d' greeted us with best wishes and the champagne offered was excellent. Food--as always--was superb. Many thanks to Tim , our waiter, for making this special occasion even better. Will return, no doubt.
Quiet Friday evening at The Capital Grill....Memorial Day weekend and Speed Street (NASCAR Coke 600 race) was set up outside on Tryon....guessing it kept many diners away. Our balsamic salads were good....15 yr aged balsamic was delicious but the olive oil was not particularly flavorful....tomatoes could have been a bit riper, too. 10 ounce filets were done to perfection (medium rare)...selected since they are the smallest cut of meat on the menu. .. delicious. Service from Tim was excellent. There was a couple dining several tables away who had an extensive (and louder than necessary) conversation with one of the chefs and their server while their son (age 8?) ran around the restaurant in a toque the chef had given him...definitely detracted from our dining experience.
