Terra Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Everything was excellent, service and personnel were very good. Food took a little long to arrive hence the four star rating. It must also be noted that our party consisted of 9 individuals which could also have caused the relatively long wait. We will definitely come back.
I used to love this restaurant but was really disappointed by my experience this time. The food did not taste as good. When I asked for pepper, it never came. The portions felt smaller this time and there was something missing with the taste. I've had amazing experiences before so I couldn't understand what happened. For the price you're paying, you expect better. This was unanimous among my group.
What a joke this place is so overpriced for the long wait time, horrible service and mediocre food we received. Walked in at 1 pm on a weekday with a nearly dead dining area and waited nearly an hour to be served our food....for an expensive place I expected more, certainly will not be returning or recommending this place
Terra is listed as one of the few fine dining options on Opentable for Thornhill, so I was somewhat limited when looking for a decent place to dine in the north end of the city. We were sat at a table that should not have really been located where it was. It was too close to other diners, to the point where we felt they were almost dining at the table with us. Our bad however, we did not ask to be sat elsewhere. Ordered a glass of white wine and it was served only slightly chilled. Had to ask for a glass of ice so I could drop a few cubes in to cool it down.
Waiter didn't even offer to replace it or open another cold bottle. Food was just OK for the price point. I had the grouper and my dining companion had the trout. Fish lacked any sort of taste and seasoning. Best part of the meal was probably the beet and mushroom salad. Service was a little off and the restaurant couldn't seem to regulate the temperature very well. Towards the end of the meal, it was getting uncomfortably hot. To top it off, a young child had a complete meltdown in the restaurant about halfway through our dinner. Amazes me that people feel so entitled to bring their 4 year old children to a fine dining establishment on a Saturday night. Maybe Terra was good and one point, but not sure that is the case any more. Won't be returning.
We went there for dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday and we enjoyed it so much. The food was excellent and especially our waitress, Renee, was a very nice lady who gave us a very warm hospitality and this really made our dinner even better. I definitely will come again and already planned to have a dinner here for our family gathering from oversea.
The service was amazing and we enjoyed our server. I ordered the grouper special and it was ok. My husband really enjoyed his lamb chops.
The restaurant is quiet which is so nice as so few restaurants are.
However, the washroom had a terrible raw sewage smell. To the point of disgusting. I spoke to the manager who said it was rain back up. My husband said the men's was fine so I'm not t sure if it really was the rain. I didn't want to go back a second time but it was too long of a time until we would be home. I breathed through layers of tissue. Which didn't really help.
I was a little disappointed that they were still setting up tables at 5:50pm when my dinner reservation was for 5:45pm. We had to sit at the bar until 6:15pm until they had the tables set up. Also, for such an expensive restaurant, I was surprised that they have not fixed their sign outside (it's ripped). The food was delicious but I felt our server could have been a little more personable (like ask if we were celebrating a special occasion - which we were! our 10th anniversary). At other high end places if they found out it was a special occasion they'd bring you a nice little free dessert or something but even after telling our server that it was our anniversary, he just brought out the dessert we ordered and wrote "Happy Anniversary". I still like the restaurant because of the food but I just didn't get that "Special" feeling that I normally get at high end restaurants which is disappointing because for 2 people our bill came to $310 (when tip was added).
What a disappointment
Looking forward to a return to Terra for a business lunch. My guest chose the sea bass. There was just one piece, it was left over from the previous night. My meat was fine, his fish seemed good.
Three hours latter he called to say he had been violently ill.
I immediately called the restaurant and they said they would make it "right". Weeks latter nobody has called or sent compensation
