Excellent dinner at Tao. Great atmosphere. Bar area is comfortable. Seated right on time for reservation. Service was outstanding - very helpful, friendly. Food was very good -- just not exceptional. Overall, for combination of atmosphere, service and food would highly recommend Tao.

This was my fifth time visiting Tao. The food and ambience are always great. The sea bass is the best on the menu and is a must try. The only drawback about this restaurant is that even with reservations I always wait at least 30 mins to get seated. That is completely unacceptable.

The service was really good, drinks and food came in smoothly. The food was excellent. The only down side is that it seats a 'lot' of customers. If you are going for a special occasion, you won't really feel special. Tao does not cater for the 'special' touch. It feels mass producesed, there are so many tables everywhere . And the noice? It is definitely one of the noiciest places I've been to to dine. I would say one goes there to be looked at and to look at others

From the UK and second visit to TAO - can't believe how much changed since 2015 - tables cramped together, overbearingly close to other couples sitting next to us, had to move tables to be seated/get out, was like a conveyabelt - glasses taken before drinks finished. Seat reservation was 6.30pm - we had eaten and left restaurant by 7.30pm due to being rushed by staff. This was a birthday meal for my boyfriend, he was sorely disappointed - myself, after raving about TAO was totally embarrassed.

Food was absolutely incredible. The music was great and our waiter was also very attentive. The only problem was that our reservation was for 6:15 and we didn't end up getting seated until 6:45. That being said, once seated, the service was great and our food came out very quickly.

We were a few minutes late given the high level of traffic, but seated immediately. The wait staff was unbelievable. Very personable and accommodating. The food is bit overpriced, but remember you are paying for the experience which IMO is well worth it. The apps were delicious and I highly recommend the Chicken Kung Poa!

Awesome again!! Never had a bad meal at Tao (coz I don't think they do them!!!) food is ten outta ten every time I've been over... STILL my favourite restaurant in the Western Hemisphere, it must be good because I have to travel 3,328 miles to get there ;))

My husband & I were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. I was freezing cold with the ridiculous air conditioning and then I suffered food poisoning all night approximately 3 hrs after I had eaten. Never again!

Having a reservation meant nothing in this restaurant. We waited another thirty minutes after our reservation time to be seated. Additionally, the service was extremely slow - both to take our order, as well as to get our main dish. I believe that the server never placed our order, or forgot to pick it up. Took almost an hour to get one fried rice dish and one low mein dish. The lo mein had nothing in it other than meat and noodles.
Will not return here, nor recommend here, to anyone I know.

The food and the service were very good.
We were 6 friends and we enjoyed.
The lunch prix fixe is very good value. I definitely would return to this restaurant.
The spicy basil chicken lettuce wraps was a very interesting dish, and the kung pao chicken
was excellent. The chocolate peanut cake was a perfect ending.

We went here for a early dinner late lunch and half the restaurant was empty. The service was horrible it took the waiter 15 mins to come and take out order then our food came 30-40 minutes later and our food was incorrectly prepared and lukewarm. We tried to grab someones attention but no one was to be found. We asked a busboy who said "ok" and still no one came. Once we were just about done eating the waiter finally came over and when asked if everything was ok I said no and he totally avoided my comment. I asked for the check and took the dessert to go bc it was a horrible experience. I used to love this place but it has totally gone down hill. The food was mediocre, the service was disgraceful for the price point and the restaurant was dirty with booths that were ripped up and unclean. I wouldn't recommend anyone going here as it's not worth your time or money. I wish I could get my money and time back from this experience.

Good food. Plan ahead. Definitely need reservations. Was extremely crowded when we left (8:00). Food comes out pretty quickly. Good meal. Plenty on the menu. Walkable from Times Square, where we were staying. Much closer to 5th avenue / Central Park area.
Server was good. Nothing special. Would likely go back, but so many other choices that we would try first.

We had gotten a recomandation from a friend that we should have dinner at TAO. We had big expectations for our meal. The food was good. The sizes was big.
However the service was bad. Our waiter was so busy with other things that we had to ask other waiters for the check. No one asked us if we wanted more to drink, or how the food was. When we just recived our appertizser we were asked if they could bring us the main course. We said we would like to eat our appertizer first.

Gave lower service score....waiter was excellent but front desk team was indifferent and reservation time meant nothing. We were seated 30mins after our reservation time and arrival. The Miso Sea Bass is incredible.

We brought some friends who hadn't been to Tao before. Our server was very knowledgeable and made up a customized assortment of appetizers followed by some of the best dishes for the table to share. That great recommendation along with a fabulous wine and a few pictures next to Buddha before our guest left made for a memorable evening. Don't forget to try the Sea Bass. Highly recommended.
