This was a nice restaurant to visit. Service was great, and seating options readily available. Good place to go with friends, on a date, or for a business meeting. Food was filling, and there were several rolls in a reasonable price range (Rolls $9+). I like to ask what the waiters/waitresses would recommend and order that at restaurants I haven't been to, but the rolls we ordered were just okay.
Our server was friendly. At first she was very attentive and helpful. After she took our order we waited and waited and waited. It was very crowded like it usually is but it seems she had a larger section to cover by herself. Someone else brought the food and we had almost finished before she asked how our meal was. It kind of felt as if we were forgotten. Our meal had taken about an hour to receive. Our server told us at the end of the dinner when she brought our check we discounted your food because we realized you all had to wait so long for your food. Overall ok experience. Not the best we've had there. Food was good so that's always a plus.
Sushi was good and the service was great. Waitress and staff were all very friendly. The only thing I found disappointing was the saké fight I ordered. None of them I found to be very good and the waitress did not know much about the ones featured in the flight so I was basically taking a chance.
We went to have my birthday lunch. The mango poke is always on point. That's my favorite. The shrimp shumai were great. However my husband ordered the chicken Katsu and it was over cooked and hard. We hate being the kind of people to send food back but when our server asked how everything was my husband let him know it was tough. The server offered to have it remade. Unfortunately even the second time they made it the chicken was hard/tough and not tender. Also they changed and switched out fish in some of the sushi rolls. I immediately noticed that the Cristina roll I ordered was not as great as it used to be. It was nice they offered free ice cream. It was a bit disappointing like it went 50/50.
This was my first visit to Sushi Zushi. I'm from a place where fresh fish is readily available and have had a hard time finding good sushi in Austin but I have found it and will be back regularly! Nathan, our server, made our dining experience warm, friendly, fun, enjoyable and wanting to come back again!
Was impressed by this place - first time here and was reluctant to book at it's a 'chain' - but it was great food. Enormous portions! So we totally over ordered and ended up boxing up a bunch to take home!
Great service - could be cleaner -unfortunately we find with so many sushi restaurants, they never seem to be squeaky clean....which seems way more important when eating raw food somehow....they all seem to overlook the splatter that comes from the manner of eating sushi! Certainly isn't a unique thing about this sushi restaurant, just sayin'
We love this location and are frequent visitors, and usually have a great experience. This visit was bordering on completely negative, the ONLY saving grace being that the food was as delicious as ever. First, we waited over 5 minutes to be greeted WITH our reservation because the hostess was too busy trying to figure out where to put a group ahead of us that didn't have a reservation. Back and forth she went, without making eye contact or even a "I'll be right with you". When she was about to leave for a THIRD time to try to find them a table, I finally interjected that we had a reservation that was scheduled for 5 minutes ago and that we'd like to be seated. Once seated, we waited over 5 minutes for our waiter to take our drink order. Usually the wait staff here are personable and great--this one seemed rushed and didn't make recommendations. Once we ordered food, we waited 30 minutes for our food, with the only explanation given being "there was a big table that placed an order right before ours". No other explanation, apology, or offer to try to make things right--pretty unacceptable. I had to ask for tea refills. Once our plates were cleared, there was no offer of dessert or anything additional, the check was just dropped off. Wait staff AND hostess seemed interested only in the large table party. We will return in hopes that this was a one time negative, but we were pretty disappointed with our Friday evening.
My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner at Sushi Zushi. This was her first time there, while I've eaten about 5 times. I talked her into the Cosimo sushi because I remembered how different but delicious it is. We both loved it! The happy hour specials were also great. As always, the service is fantastic. This is our go-to sushi place.
We love Sushi Zushi at The Domain! Happy with the experience every time we go. Not really kid-friendly in terms of the food choices, but we typically bring our 3 year old a Subway kid's meal and then staff are super sweet to her. She enjoys eating her sandwich with chopsticks and then the ice cream at the end. :)
Started with the gyozas which are always safe and tasty. The seaweed/squid salad was fresh and tasty. Ordered the sushi sampler which was not edible, pieces were chewy, and smelled off, texture was rubbery and slimy. Returned the item and asked to have it removed. When the bill arrived, still charged and the waiter Nathan said the manager would not remove it. DISAPPOINTING. Can't really recommend this place anymore! SAD
We took our family of 6 out to dinner for our son's 12th birthday. He wanted sushi, but only 2 of the 6 of us eat it. My 3 little ones loved their bento boxes with beef tenderloin and super fresh fruit. My husband loved his noddles and his HH beer. My son and I enjoyed our sushi. Our waiter was great. It was a great experience, even with 3 littles in tow!
The Wasabi was just green paste- no heat or flavor. The fish felt frozen and thawed- soggy, spongy and soft. The spicy edamame had BBQ sauce on it. I get it, this is TX, but that was not a fusion that worked for me. The roll was dull and flat tasting.
On the positive side, the potions were good and the pricing was reasonable.
Tl;dr- if you know and love real, fresh, authentic sushi, this is not the place.
Food was awesome. Resturant was clean . Service was awful. The waiter was slow. Anytime I ever wanted anything they were out of it. My water glass was filled when we were leaving. My bill was incorrect. We kept having ask for items that should came with our sushi like soy sauce and wasabi. Dinner was painful.
Service was extremely slow. It took over 20 minutes to get our rolls and far too long to get drinks. It seemed that they were switching over menus, so half of the drinks we attempted to order were no longer being made. The tables were uncomfortably crammed close together with almost no room to walk between them. My soy sauce bowl was dirty so I asked for a new one, and the waitress said that that didn't surprise her.
