Everything about Sunda was outstanding except for the noise level, which was actually a bit painful. I cannot go back because of that, which makes me a little sad, because the food was terrific (I am a vegetarian).

Loved the special bao buns! The chicken Panang curry was the bomb! Crazy fried rice was just ok. We loved the bacon and lobster sushi roll and the gambler was really fun. Mochi for dessert was great. The green tea donuts were pretty good. Great service with lots of personality! Really good food but it would be better if it was a bit quieter in the restaurant.

We visited Sunda for a group dinner. The food was delicious, although the noise level made conversation somewhat challenging. We will investigate a private dining space for group dinners in the future. We would certainly return.

The food was amazing. However, our experience was affected by the fact that we were sat, initially, at a terrible table where I was in a door way and it was extremely cold as we were under an air-conditioning unit. We asked if we could be moved and were told that there were no spare tables, despite there being seven available with sight. I had to go to the front desk and ask to be moved before anything happened. Again I was told there were no spare tables. So I had to point out the seven free tables. Shortly after we moved, they put a couple on the same table we vacated and they asked to be move too.

We found Sunda on line and made a reservation for our anniversary. The miso cauliflower was my favorite!! Worth a trip back to Chicago. One dish that came tasted off, so the waiter did not hesitate and took it back, suggesting the Brussels sprout salad that was also delicious! We will definitely return.

Sunda is a consistent high quality hip restaurant. Evenings are super cool but lunch is also excellent. Our server was a bit too "friendly " for my taste, but his recommendations were good. I recommend for any occasion.

I had high hopes for Sunda upon walking in--it was beautifully designed, full of people and had great seating available. However, it quickly became apparent that the appeal of this restaurant was mostly aesthetic, falling to the plague of the typical River North restaurant. I enjoyed my time there until the exorbitant bill arrived, at which point I realized I really couldn't say anything was worth the price. The $56 bottle of wine didn't help things, but as one of the most affordable bottles on the menu I guess it did the job. The sushi was good but uninspired, our waitress was competent and friendly but perhaps a bit too casual. This would be a nice place for someone to take me to, but not one I would sink my own money into again.

We were expecting much more. We found the food good, but the attendant brought everything in order contradicts what we ask. The last dish that arrived was the salad. For the first time in my life, a restaurant broght the salad as last plate. I think this is a very important point, because it interferes in all the palate for the meal. The waitress came to check the order with us and it appeared that she had forgotten, so it has all come in the wrong order. This is not acceptable in a good restaurant.

Have been to Sunda several times, and they always execute well on their approach to Asian fusion. Especially impressed with their take on duck fried rice, and the oxtail dumplings and brussel sprout salad were standouts as well. Great place for business dinner or dining out with friends.

Sunda offers a wide variety of asian food. The edamame and shiitake dumplins, salmon sashimi, waghyu beef tiradito, red dragon roll, were all really good and worth trying.
Nice setting and ambiance, although the music was a little loud (we went around 9:30pm).
The service was not so good, we had to constantly wait for our waiter to come by. When we arrived, the restaurant was full, but gradually the tables were emptying and still the service did not improve.
Very well located!

They have missed our reservation, told us they would be back to get us from the bar and never did. Also they brought us the wrong food. The taste of our food wasn't the best either. The service was the only good thing, the server was really sorry for all the confusion. We've heard great things about the place before we visited. Overall dissatisfied and disappointed.

First time here! We were in Chicago celebrating a friends 50th birthday! This is where we went our first night and it was perfect! The atmosphere was very energetic and fun! The food was amazing, all 6 of us ordered something different and we shared plates, it was fabulous! Great wine list also!! They didn't rush us to get through dinner and our waiter was great!! Definitely recommend for a group or a date!!

Everything was absolutely excellent. Of course, we got the brussels sprouts salad & crab handroll. So good. The chicken curry was the best I've ever had. My only gripe was that the coconut sea bass didn't come out until we had finished all of the other dishes, and my server said, "I'd love to get you all another glass of wine." The way she said it, I assumed that meant she was buying us a round. Not according to our check. It was just very misleading and didn't sit well with me. Other than that, it was fabulous per usual.

I made a reservation but my other party could not make it....so I went anyway. I was in Chicago for business. I was told by the hostess that she'could not give me a table for 1'. Very odd. I sat in the bar. Good martini, OK rib appetizer. I ordered Tofu PadThai, but they brought chicken...so I ate around it. It was average. The hightlight was my server....from St Louis. Sort of disappointed. ...and was too loud to talk if my guest had made it.

Excellent sushi restaurant; lived up to the strong reviews I had read on Trip Advisor website. Service was excellent. Strong collection of wine and sake.
Restaurant was a bit noisier than I had expected, but that seems to be in line with the theme of the place.
Will go back next time I am in Chicago.

This was a return visit for us...Food was fabulous as always. Noise level was very high. We were initially seated at a table that was not anywhere near enough room for either our table nor the one next to us...in short they were in too tight.

Original, interesting and exciting experience for your palate. If you are looking for something other than steak, chicken or fish stop in for a culinary treat. The brussel sprout salad and the bbq octopus were outstanding. Can't wait to sample some of the other unique flavors.

Sunda is one of NZ favorite restaurant but was very disappointed last night. The food was really bad. We ordered the crazy rice and it was so salty almost I eatable. The rest that followed was not much better. Won't be back for a while....
