My boyfriend and I had 2 drinks each, all were great. The food was fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the gnocchi, lamb, and the kielbasa.
What a surprise!
What a surprise! We went for a casual birthday dinner and we were blown away by the meal and the cocktails. The only downside is that it was really loud...but not to the point that we couldn't have a conversation.

Our server was amazing!! Food was fantastic. First time eating here, and we will be back.
This is an excellent place! We opted to get several small plates. The portions are small but the food is so well prepared. Our server Becky help us with an American suggestion for a digestif. Overall I would definatley recommend this place.
The food was very delicious. We tried a lot of different small plates and shared them so it gave us a great variety of food choices we enjoyed. The drinks and service were great as well.
Fantastic in every way
Great food, great drinks! Lots of nearby parking, friendly and attentive staff!

Really wonderful all around but full of loud children when we went! It doesn't strike me as a children friendly place so it was off putting.
Terrific meal on a snowy Friday night.
We sampled a number of dishes and not one was a weakling. Would definitely come back. Staff was most helpful.
Great food and cocktails in South Philly
Completely enjoyed the Foie Gras, Agnolotti and Charcuterie small plates - best Foie Gras ever! Additionally, the cocktails were fabulous; made by and served by a bartender that likes to make cocktails and service the bar without a pretentious or "too busy to be bothered" attitude. Honestly, one of my best finds in the last 10 years. I will recommend Stateside to everyone looking for a new restaurant and/or bar in Philly. Absolutely OUTSTANDING. Get over there now!

Me and my friend had an amazing time. Great cocktails. Tried both of the gin drinks and absolutely feel in love. All the food was incredible. Great date spot. All dishes are very shareable. Definitely recommend!
I can't say enough about my first visit. I am hoping to return in the warm weather because the outdoor seating looks fantastic. Amazing cocktails. Delicious food although a touch pricey based on portion size.
Great food loud atmosphere
Food was really good however it was very difficult to communicate with whoever you were having dinner with.
Go here just to drink, not eat
The plates were small and over priced. The drinks were decent but you can get good drinks anywhere. I wouldn't go here for a meal.
Great food. A little too loud.
Great food. A little too loud.
Very small portions, very expensive prices . Good service. We were still hungry but we didn't want to more.
A little bit hipster
Went here as it was recommended and I also noted it was voted one of the top 50 restaurants in Philadelphia by Philly.com. If you like small plates and sharing this is a good choice. Not a ton of vegetarian options. The dishes are very beautifully presented. Dessert may have been the best part. The chocolate tart!
Great overall but the noise level = shouting
Great service, great food and incredibly noisy. The Gershwin drink is one of the best in the city, hands down; the freshly squeezed ginger is the bomb. The cheese parings were exceptional and the wait staff super friendly and accommodating. All dishes cooked perfectly and enjoyed by all.

A couple of minor glitches with a drink order and one of the plates that was handled well with no questions asked. Very responsive wait staff. Will definately return.
Third time here -and might be my last.
This was my third time visiting this restrurant and it seems to have changed quite a bit since my last visit, which was quite a while ago. THe food was only so-so this time and the menu didn't seem that exiting. Not sure i will make a point to visit again - especially given the other establishments very close by. I was there with a group of 5 and we did have a varity of dishes - none of which were in anyway memorable - especially for the price. I will say the bar still seems like a fund place to hang out especially on a nice night.
The small plates add up quick, and our meal for 3 ended up at $200 (before any drinks).

Really enjoyed ourselves at Stateside this week. The small plates are right up our alley as we are able to sample many different flavors. Amazing drinks and a great bourbon list. Really like that you can order 1oz or 2oz pours. Bartender and service was great. We will definitely be back.
Stateside was okay. Food was good not great. Lamb was really fatty. Gnocchi was fried and crunchy. The best dish was the cheese. Service was average. Nice waitress. But we had the same plates throughout most of the meal.
every dish was lovingly presented and very good.
Lots of small plates, great menu, all the dishes he had were very good. The waiter was on top of it and also was prepared for and kept track of one of our party's gluten allergy. I didn't love the very loud aggressive music, but would go back for the food.
Great neigborhood joint!
I hae been meaning to go to Stateside for a couple of years based on its presense on Passyunk Ave. I was not disapointed. We had some great American Whisky and Burbon, paired with some of the best small plates in philla. What is great abou this place is the eclectic small plates. Delicious and even entertaining, as the food was presented beutifully. Highly recomend! Our server Ninna was awesome!

The dishes were exotic and tasty! A great way to try (and share) new, flavorful combinations.
Food was okay...nothing overly special.
Food was okay...nothing overly special. Good bar to go for ryes, bourbons, whiskey though.
Fantastic Food and Service
This is a small plates restaurant, and the server suggested 2-3 apps per person and 1 entree each. We ordered 3 apps and 2 entrees. I was full, but my husband could have eaten more. The menu is not very large, but there is a nice assortment to choose from. The apps were fantastic, but my duck entree was very tough and chewy. I did not complain because I was so happy with everything else. I think they are more known for their steaks, so maybe duck wasn't the way to go. I would definitely go back though. The noise level is very energetic, as you are seated right beside the bar which was packed. A great spot, great food, knowledgeable and friendly servers. A definite hot spot!
Go to date-night locale
A week ago was my third time coming to Stateside and i must say every experience has been great. The food has been so consistently great every time I've been here. Special shout out to the foie gras for being amazing. This is the perfect place to take a date or a group of friends. Not only is the food on par with some of the most expensive places I've been to in the city, but it's truly a fraction of the cost. Three or four plates is plenty for 2 people in my opinion, and the price for that is unparalled for how good the food is. Go!!
A great date.
we had a great date at Stateside celebrating a birthday. The food was amazing, service was great. Will definitely go back.
Great first time visit
A group of us went before a show at the Wells Fargo.. we are all from the burbs and wanted to try a new place. It was great. the food was really amazing and the service was great as well. We all really enjoyed it and i look forward to going back when the weather is nicer and enjoying a drink on the outside bar stools! Nice to see some new upcoming places in South Philly!
Staff not in the know
The food was very good. We especially liked the flatbread and the striped bass. The cheese plate was ok but there was no explanation of what was on it and when we asked about one of the cheeses the waiter returned to tell us, not what variety it was, just that it was cows milk. It would have been nice to have a better description of each plate when it arrived because the menu was lacking in detail; for instance there was a beautiful piece of portabella mushroom under the fish and we had to ask what it was. There were many delicious details the chef peppered each plate with and many were lost. The wine list is small and overpriced, and when we asked for the bartender's suggestion for a boutique gin for our martini we got something that was served "up" , perhaps ok for an appertiff but definatly not siutable for a martini. We didn't return it because we had asked questions and not received answers even that early on. If you are going to serve fabulous food and drink it seems like you would want the staff to know what they are serving. We eat at small plate/ tapas restaurants all over the city and return to places like Amada and Bar Ferdinand, but would probably not return here any time soon.

Food's the story here, peppered with nice clientele, & homy neighborhood ambiance. Love the small plates, rendered with care and taste. Tiny place with little elbow room and tables set close - perhaps a bit too close, but with the general focus of all in the room on ambitious menu items, it seems more cordial than cramped seems. Desserts are a real treat. I didn't expect them to be so outstanding.
Not during Restaurant Week
I've eaten here quite a few times previously, and have always loved it. Smart service, great food and a cool vibe. Recently went during Restaurant Week; it was still good, but disappointing. The good did not seem up to their usual standards, and the service was pleasant but very amateurish. We expected the limited menu - all part of Restaurant Week - but the food was good, but nothing special ( and it usually is quite special.) I had the fish fish, and it was a little overdone, and could have used a bit more sauce. The desserts were the standouts - the pastry chef was on his/her A game. Seemed like our server was a newbie: didn't know the dines on a fairly small list, and we had to ask for silverware as each course was served - the dishes were placed on the table and the server dashed away, leaving us with food but no utensils. It was difficult to catch our servers eye, as she was either at the computer ( submitting orders?) or taking care of other tables. Don't know if this was a case of being understaffed, or very new staff, but it was not what we have experienced on other visits. I'll definitely go back for another try, but never during Restaurant Week. If this is a marketing strategy, it's a fail - if I had not had great experiences here in the past, I probably would not return.
Good food, cold dining room.
It was really cold in the dining room. Our table was right as you entered and so every time the door opened a gust of cold wind came through the door and chilled your bones. I also don't know if the heat was on because even after a couple glasses of red wine and warm and filling food our table of 5 was still frozen. Otherwise, everything was delicious and friendly waitstaff.
Delicious $1.00 per oysters during Happy Hour. Loved the fois gras app.,the various textures and sauces were thoughtful and the presentation meticulously artful. Duck main course was yummy atop the roasted slice of squash! Just the right portions, except for the fois, which wasn't enough to share. But we'll be back! Service was perfect.
Friend recommended this place. While the food was innovative and good, a 45 minute wait between courses with no acknowledgement by waitstaff or management made for overall disappointing experience. When waitstaff was questioned about slow service response was "Friday and Saturday nights are busy". We had intended to order dessert but couldn't risk another long wait. Duck was well presented and had great flavor.
