One of our favorite places to eat in Charleston. The brunch is amazing and the rooftop is great for drinks and views of the city.
The food was good. Not great. It wasn’t all that hot. The bread items were not all that fresh or low quality. I was surprised at how loud the music was for a quiet Sunday morning brunch. It didn’t fit the atmosphere to have bumping club music and quite frankly was a total turn off for me. Not what I want to experience on a Sunday morning nor did it fit the venue.
Good service, ok food. Other options around the area would be a better option. Food was cold first go-round and the steak which was said to be “Better than halls” was extremely salty. At least 7 bachelorette parties in there at a time. Told them it was my fiancé’s birthday- and nothing. Probably won’t be back.
Picked this restaurant for a work dinner. It was a great choice. It was very crowded, however, the Restaurant was very accommodating to moving back our dining time.( Hard to add people late- remember that- if you are not sure on the count, go up at the start). It's clear this is a place to be seen in Charleston. Casual yet cool. An update on classic fare. Our Waiter was incredibly knowledgeable. He knew the menu inside and out. Had recommendations for all the people with allergies. Steered us to dishes that are the favorites of diners and helped us pick appetizers that where something for everyone. He helped make the experience. After dinner, we picked small sizes of three desserts to sample. Everone liked a little of something. All and All a great dinner. We then went upstairs to the rooftop bar for drinks. It was extremely crowded ( mostly a younger crowd), but it seems to come in waves so you could find seating. There are heaters, and they can pull the plastic walls down on the sides to keep the wind levels down. It was cool night but the temperature upstairs was perfect. The cocktails after made it the perfect night. A place I would easily recommend, and go back to.
Pimento cheese risotto was really good. Was not super impressed with the rest of the food. The waiter was nice but kept calling me "texas" which, I wasn't really a fan of since I am not from there.
The atmosphere and service was excellent. I was a little disappointed in the speed at which the food came out and the temperature of the food. I had a risotto which came very quickly (prior to finishing our appetizers) and it was cold and congealed. The scallops were also a little under cooked. I could understand if the restaurant was slammed but we had a 545 reservation and the dining room was largely unfilled; However, then the come out really quickly you would expect the food to be to the proper temperature. I have eaten here before and been pleased and will definitely come back and get a later reservation to not feel like I am being rushed through my meal. Also the rooftop bar is a fantastic space
Awesome food and menu options! We had a pretty large party and our server was very attentive to our large food and drink order!! The rooftop bar was great for after dinner drinks and mingling !! The bar had a great view of the city skyline and had lots of room and seating options as well.
The music was really awful. The restaurant was dark with dark paneling. Food was good but we had to leave because the music in the restaurant was awful.
The staff, the food and location absolutely amazing!!
Stars came very highly recommended but last night they were so off their game last night. The manager tried to make it right but the wait for our reservation was lengthy and the food was less than mediocre.
Food was fabulous, as was are waitress. So many Fun cocktails to choose, tried a couple different ones. A bit loud but very energetic activity. We will be back.
Service good, food mediocre, noisy place. I cannot recommend it for a birthday celebration
My husband and I were very disappointed in our experience. We go to Stars on every trip we take to Charleston however this time the food, service, and atmosphere was subpar. We specifically wanted to celebrate our 5th Anniversary at Stars and it was barely even acknowledged. I’m not sure that we will be back.
Sullivan made the evening super special; the entire table loved her...Sissy says hi!
To loud of music that was distracting. Food was okay but over priced for the quality.
My husband and I went for a casual meal whilst on holiday in Charleston. We were seated at the back of the restaurant near the kitchen.
We both had main courses of mushroom risotto with an add on of chicken. It was probably the worst risotto I’ve ever had; over cooked and mushy rice, flavourless and the chicken was dry and just stuck on the side.
My husband had an average, over sweet apple crumble.
With a couple of beers, a glass of wine and two espressos, the bill came to 114 dollars, not good value in my opinion for such poor food.
Very nice meal. Food was hot and came out quickly after ordering.
The food was not served warm it was actually cold more sides than main dish. Oyster app was really good tuna app very small and maybe frozen. Not the same quality as it was when first opened. Seems more like a nightclub than fine dining prices.
Had a lovely time with friends. All six of us enjoyed our delicious meals. From the steaks to the oysters, everything was fantastic. Thank you Stars! We will be back.
Elegant atmosphere and very flavorful food. Highly recommended for a special occasion, romantic dinner, or a business dinner. Limited selection on the menu, but what they do, they do Well! The spit roasted beef is a highlight and a must-not-miss. The Lavender Lemonade was tasty, but disappointed in it's lack of strong lavender and presentation was a bit boring in a tall thin glass. Service was excellent and the server was well-informed, responsive, attentive, and cared about our dining experience.
Can’t beat the brunch deal!
Our waitress sullivan was so sweet and attentive and the food was amazingly prepared with excellent presentation. Definitely will be back.
Great night with great friends. I was so excited about eating there for the second time. The first time was on Valentines night. I ordered the steak specialty both times while Lauren ordered the steak option with mushrooms. She rates hers excellent. I can’t quiet get there with mine but it was ok. The first time I ordered it was incredible.
Came into town for Cooper Bridge Run, and Stars appeared to be a restaurant to try out during our stay. My party thought the food was average (very salty) compared to the costs. Although the food was not to our liking, my party did enjoy the rooftop bar before dinner.
Outstanding food and customer service. We split a steak and that was a healthy portion. Fun atmosphere, good customer service, and fabulous wines!
Although we did not make it to the rooftop (which I believe might have upped the review) because it was too cold, Stars was somewhere I would go back at a warmer time. The food was good (nothing to really complain about) but nothing I HAD to go back for as in other restaurants in Charleston.
Give it a try but make it to the rooftop.
Great restaurant with awesome customer service!
The price is fair and reasonable.
Wonderful experience for the rooftop bar to the great food and service. Not touristy at all which is refreshing in the heart of Charleston. Try the bacon tater tots!
Enjoyed a nice evening out to dinner downtown at Stars. Love the outdoor bar upstairs. Be sure to ask for Raymond as your server. He is awesome.
Great experience and excellent food!
Stars was fantastic! We had a large group for a bachelorette party, and I felt like we were treated extremely well. Chris specifically was absolutely wonderful--very attentive, accommodating, and friendly making our stay feel like we were VIPs.
The scallops were amazing but I’ve never had a more bland risotto in my life. The roasted red pepper mashed potatoes were impeccable but it was a special so not sure how often it’ll be available.
The steak was spectacular!
Always a great experience!
Restaurant had a foul odor and Lobster special was extremely tough.
The location and people watching were the best. The service was awkward, table numbers were incorrect, ordered half liter of wine, received the full (double the charge), the chicken was overcooked, the vegetables undercooked and the risotto was cold. Given the amount of reviews and ratings I can only surmise that it was location/rooftop experience driven.
Everything was amazing! Chris was our server! He was great! Also, there was another server who came over. Not sure what his name was but he’s awesome too! It was a special day for the both of us and overall we both loved it!!!
Our meal was excellent from start to finish. The food quality, service and atmosphere was great! Our waiter Raymond made us feel very welcome to Charleston ! Gave us tips of things to do and places to check out!
We came here for a bachelorette party and had a table of 7 girls. We had reservations but still had to wait about 10 mins before being sat. Between the food, service and drinks though, it was able to change our moods quickly! The meals were so fresh and made perfect and everything was averagely priced. Definitely recommend for a nice dinner for a special occasion!
Loud. Table was in odd location to adjacent table. Food was excellent and so was service.
