Chris provided outstanding service, and we had so much fun dining here for brunch today because of it. He was professional, personable, and went the extra mile to make sure our table had a great time.
Had trouble finding reservations the weekend after valentines day in Charleston- so we took a chance on this spot. Was just ok- my spouse had the seasoned ribeye and it was just ok- the green beans were not good he said. I had the swordfish special on grits. I found the swordfish to have been overdone and the lobster "crusting" just really had a fishy taste- the grits were the only saving grace. We really do not mind spending for a nice meal- but we hate to spend it when it is lacking. The server was really good I will have to say. Probably would not return.
Our Valentine’s Day experience at Stars was second to none. Great atmosphere and service that is always followed up by the best grill room favorites!
Valentine’s Day! What a great night. Could not have been more perfect. The service was great. We started with the oyster appetizer. A nice bottle of wine. Lauren ordered the seafood and grits and I ordered the ribeye steak ( house special) both meals were incredible. Value was good. Expectations were overachieved!
The food was presented well and was very delicious. I wanted to try everything on the menu. We are locals that will definitely return.
Great place. Everything works together for a great night out. Savanah our waitress provided the best service with a great attitude. Got to go soon.
Great menu Very friendly staff
We had a wonderful server who went the extra mile. Highlights included the pimento risotto, mushroom bruschetta and the pasta with sausage. It was difficult to judge the noise level as the dining room was not filled. We would definitely go back.
The rooftop was lackluster. The service on the roof may have been close to terrible. The service on the floor however was phenomenal. Our waiter and the host was attentive and so personable. We really had a great time....at the table.
Don’t go for restaurant week! We had a reservation but we’re not able to sit down at our table until 45 minutes later! The service was awful, my sister and myself did not enjoy our meal (barely touched it) and couldn’t get the waiter’s attention to return it. When he finally got back to us, he never asked how our meal was but simply took the plates and gave us the check. By the time he got to our table, it was almost midnight and we were so tired and upset that we didn’t want to even deal with it anymore. Very upsetting experience.
I went here for my birthday with a group of friends. The food was fantastic! We all had a wonderful time. We will definitely be going again!
Yum, Stars. We had a great "restaurant week" dinner. The poutine was so savory and delicious. We got seated in a circular booth which was nice and romantic. I think there is also an upstairs and a room in the back for seating so it kind of felt like a cool speakeasy- lots of activity and people watching on a Saturday night. Sullivan, our server, was awesome!
Food was overpriced for the quality.
Took some friends that trust us to pick where to eat in Charleston. They said it was the best meal they have had in Charleston since they moved here over a year and a half ago. We have taken them to over 4 dozen restaurants since they moved here. The server was awesome and very comfortable with everything. His name was Chris. Thanks for making the evening special.
My husband and I went to celebrate our birthday. The food was excellent as well as the service, Chris was our server and he was super nice, explained the menu, gave us suggestions for the evening as well as for our stay in Charleston. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Wonderful experience dining at Stars Grill Room. Service was great and our server and the kitchen catered to my picky husbands requests. We have never dined at Stars before but will return, thank you for making our date night special!
Service was great, but food was mediocre and particularly disappointing for restaurant week. Entree was lukewarm and I was charged for extra glass of wine and overcharged for meal cost until I asked. Waitress quickly corrected, but overall unimpressed.
A very nice restaurant with a great feel to it. We were in town and chose this restaurant as a result of other reviews. The food was excellent, the beer choices were great and the service was spot on. Very good option if you are in town.
This was my 3rd or 4th time having dinner at Stars and was extremely disappointed. All other times, the food was great as was the experience. Understanding it was Restaurant week, I was looking forward to the menu and meal and a great deal. However, from the beginning when we asked for recommendations from the server, he even said he liked the regular menu more than the Restaurant Week menu, which defeated the whole purpose of our group going to Stars in the first place. I had brought my coworkers hoping to impress them with the ambience and the meal, but we were very disappointed in the food and portion sizes. All other times I have been, the food was incredible and portions were acceptable. The service was still good but otherwise disappointed.
Had to wait 30 minutes to be told the restaurant did not have advertised rabbit or duck for restaurant week advertisement. Should have been told by hostess before waiting. Such a waste of time and disappointment. Was not offered anything else comparable
We made this reservation for restaurant week which began on 1/10, it was 1/13 at 6pm when we went. When we asked for the restaurant week menu we were told that they were sold out of everything. I wouldn’t have made the reservations here if not for restaurant week. It felt like a bait and switch, we weren’t offered anything for the fact that they had sold out of restaurant week items. Not a discount, not a free app, not a dessert nothing. The food was good yes, but that doesn’t negate the fact that I felt like we were bamboozled into eating off the regular menu. The waitress said well u can go somewhere else...well by that time it was 7pm in downtown charleston so anywhere would have been packed and we would have needed reservations, oh and I am 8.5 months pregnant and needed to eat. Very disappointed overall, and will probably never go back.
Great food and service. We had an excellent experience.
We had a great time! This restaurant is beautiful and the atmosphere is perfect. Food was great. I plan to visit again!
My husband and I were in town for a conference and decided to try Stars for dinner. We are so glad we did. The building it is in is beautiful. Our waitress was Brandy and she was very personable and knowledgeable of the menu. Made good suggestions and allowed us time to enjoy a drink before ordering.
I ordered the salmon which was perfect. I have a hard time finding salmon cooked the way I like it and the chef did a great job. It was cooked medium and was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. My husband had a pork chop special which he enjoyed very much. I would highly recommend trying it out.
It was New Year's day evening and very slow. I checked but got a sorry we missed yo email so my Open Table reservation was not acknowledged (I had to go back to ask them to check me in - want the points and I also get a commission for all reservations on OT through my business).
We got a shrimp cocktail (nice big shrimp and yummy cocktail sauce, which was good for shrimp cocktail). Got the caesar salad which had a nice house-made dressing. For dinner, the Stars Grill Room Steak - too rare - purple - asked for med rare, small portion. Just ok. Server was tentative and not attentive, considering how slow it was. Plenty of other great places to try in Charleston - probably won't go back for dinner.
Fourth visit. Consistently excellent. Thank you!
Third time for family brunch and each time it's been perfect. This trip my husband and I stayed after brunch and enjoyed the rooftop bar and drinks. Absolutely wonderful cocktails.
Had the brunch buffet and it was lackluster at best. Overpriced, and the food was mid grade at best.
Bacon was cool, not even warm.
Salad dressing had no label, and we very thick so it was difficult to get them out in small quantities.
The made to order omelette was over cooked but very hot when delivered.
Coffee was good.
Would not give them another shot with so many other great options to choose from.
We sat downstairs on a very busy weekend night to celebrate our daughters recent college graduation and sort of holiday celebration combined. The energy in the place is awesome, and even though it was crowded, we were seated right at our reservation time. Wait staff were very attentive, the waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly and our entree's and dessert were all amazing!
To top it all off, the management team jumped into action rallying help from some of their staff to find and save our daughters new college class ring that had fallen down the drain of the bathroom sink. They couldn't have been more helpful! We'll definitely be going back!
Loved it and can’t wait to go back! Delicious surf and turf options!...Cozy table for two...what’s not to love!
