Service and food always top notch Great wine list Wait staff true professionals. My go to place in Des Moines before the theater or special occasion.
We have dined here on multiple occasions but this time it seemed to be even better than previous visits! We both enjoyed our main dish of seafood but we shared some Lobster Mac and Cheese which was absolutely DELICIOUS! We had a large wine list to pick from, our waitress was attentive and helpful and never made us feel rushed. We were here before a show at the Civic Center and made for a perfect evening
Our food was very good. Our service was less then good. Our server was only at our table 3 time the whole dinner.
Our waitress was informative andvery helpful in detailing our meals to fit our food allergies. Food and atmosphere were great.
If you love seafood then this place is a must. Everything was great from the online reservations to my last cocktail of the night.
Amazing fresh seafood and excellent service… One on DesMoines best wine lists…
Dined before going to a show at the Civic Center
Really enjoyed our dinner. Was a Thursday night on a show night and our service was still good. Excellent seafood!!
The food was good. My only criticism is that the restaurant was not very busy and we were given a small, cramped table.
We were there for a dinner before the Civic Center. Our waitress asked us before we ordered, so everything was delivered in a timely fashion. She was very attentive. The food is wonderful, but I think it's over priced for Des Moines.
Dependably good food and impeccable service at Splash. I always have seafood when I'm there because it's so fresh and cooked to perfection. However, one of these days I'm going to order meat or poultry because they sound wonderful.
Enjoy it every time we come. Seafood is always wonderful and the desserts are good too.
We are finding Splash to be hit or miss these days, and it was mostly a miss on our recent visit. We were seated in the lower area, which isn't our favorite spot, but it was busy so it was at least lively. The wine list is still nice, but maybe not as interesting as it has been in the past. Two of us opted for the scallops, and they were largely overcooked. The other member of our party ordered swordfish, which was also overcooked. We all chose the garlic mashed potatoes, which were fine but not special, and the asparagus, which was also fine.
The shining stars were the lobster bisque and the half dozen oysters on the half shell. The bisque is a large serving--a bowl, not a cup. The bisque is delicious and loaded with large chunks of lobster. And the oysters were simply outstanding.
Splash is good, but when the preparation is off, we just don't think it's worth the price tag. Next time we might opt for the raw bar.
Great food and service. Made it to the Eagles concert in time.
Attended contest with family
Server had many tables and she was on the ball for all of them. Appreciate it. Bonus tip. Need to stay with my go to scallops
Overall I was impressed with my first visit to splash. The food and service were top notch. I love the unique atmosphere. We had a great experience.
My only complaint about Splash is the high cost. 16 dollar drinks, 45 dollar steaks, 18 dollar appetizers, it's pretty expensive. My wife and I had a date night there and our bill was over 200 dollars. Fun experience but will not be returning due to cost.
The waiter was awful! Very disrespectful.
Great service, good food
We were very happy with our first experience at Splash!.... a little pricey for visiting regularly but the quality of the cuisine won us over. Absolutely loved the Chilean Sea Bass. We will be back! Thanks Splash!
Went to an early dinner. Greeted and quickly seated. ALL the food was amazing! Fresh seafood. Wonderful service. Can’t wait to go back!
I absolutely love this restaurant. It's fabulous every time we come here. The food is to die for and the service is excellent. My favorite place to dine for special occasions.
My favorite place for oysters in a land locked town. So fresh with a remarkable attention to seasonality and coastal availability. Service is always excellent.
We hadn't eaten here in a while. It used to be a treat. Overall I've had way better food in Des Moines for the same or less. The food just wasn't that good. The lighting made all the food look gray. When I got home with my risotto leftover, it turned out it was gray! The decor hasn't changed in the 25 years I've been eating here. I won't be back until something changes.
Always enjoy our time here . Oysters are always pretty good.but I’m not super picky.
Simple amazing. A must visit restaurant for those special occasions.
Our friends we had come with had eaten there before but this was my husband and my first time eating here. It was fantastic! The waitress we had was amazing and very helpful. The food was great! I'm not a seafood eating person but they had a few other options that were not seafood. I do wish they would've had more choices in the Moscato wine because I am not a red wine drinker and they only had two Moscatos to choose from and one was only served by the glass and not the bottle. The one I got in the bottle was a brand I could've gotten for less than $20 at Hy-vee but got charge a lot more for it at the restaurant. Other than that our overall experience was wonderful and I would definitely be back and recommend Splash to everyone.
great service, wonderful food. The Iowa Charcuterie was excellent
I am all for spending a lot of money on a great meal and service. However, this experience did not provide that. From a server trying to wrap up his shift and telling us that he'd "love to be [our] waiter but it's time to have a beer" to having lackluster service to the food being just ok. With the reviews, we expected amazing. We experienced "meh" with a side of unwarranted elitism. We have no intentions of returning.
Very nice, relaxing dinner.
We ate prior to going to the Civic Center to see Chicago
The food was so amazing. My date & I had no idea what half of the menu was and our waitress, Gina, explained everything thoroughly and was so fun to talk to! Definitely recommend for date night/girls night.
This was our first visit to Splash and it was perfect. From the hostess to the final goodbye. Our server, Zachary was just great. He explained the menu in depth, to us first timers, made some awesome suggestions, that we loved and made certain we loved what we ordered. We will certainly come back again soon.
Everything was great waitress very competent, always enjoyable as always!!!
My wife & I enjoyed dinning last Saturday evening before the show "On Your Feet" the food was A-one Service very good. We've eaten here maybe 3 times before and have never been disappointed.
We did dinner before the civil center show-5:30 reservation and was immediately seated. Jamie was our server-excellent. We each ordered a dinner salad. I had the peppercorn dressing- outstanding- not heavy but with very good. I ordered the gulf shrimp which were good-all four of them- my wife had the scallops which were very good. The menu included many dishes with seafood except prepared oysters. The bill was $100.00 plus tip. The only negative were the serving size which could have been a little bigger but overall excellent. We will return.
The ambiance is very nice and the service was really attentive. We enjoyed the aquarium displays and the quiet dining experience. The Calamari was wonderful!
We had not been to Splash for some time. Took another couple prior to a theater performance. Thought the service was great, the food was excellent. We had plenty of time prior to the show and the service was perfect, not too rushed nor too slow. We are planning to return.
Excellent, exceeded our expectations for seafood in Iowa.
