Restaurant only had 3 or 4 tables occupied. It took over 10 minutes for wait staff to greet us and over 30 minutes total to get our cocktails. Waiter was polite and professional but assuming only one taking tables and overwhelmed. Food was mediocre... not bad but not memorable. Feel like they are trying too hard to be quirky and different with weird ingredients and presentation without getting basic concepts mastered. Cocktails were good once we got them. Food was well priced but not noteworthy. This was out third dinner with consistently average result. Probably will not go back unless for concert venue.
Passing through town and found South on Main. The food was fantastic and the service was super friendly and welcoming. The best chicken fried steak and gravy we have ever had. We told the waiter how much we loved the gravy and he brought the chef out to tell us how it's made. If we ever find ourselves in Little Rock again, we will definitely be eating here.
Simply one word... AMAZING! The music was amazing. Great evening and great food!
Great service ! The seating is perfect for live performances. The stage is warm and intimate.
One of my favorite restaurants in Little Rock. Can't go wrong with the pimento cheese jar, Ribeye and the burger is top three in city. Perfect place for special occasions. Had a happy birthday!
If you want taste some fine southern cooking, please stop by South on Main. It is a Southern Foodie Gem with great service and a charming building
We were there for dinner, drinks, and the entertainment by William Jeter band.
Had to leave concert early due to unforeseen schedule issue but the meal was great. Chloe was very friendly and helpful. Our waiter made a perfect drink but wasn’t very good about keeping water glasses filled.
Terrific food and experience.
I absolutely love SOM!! The food is awesome! The staff is wonderful!! The menu is full of delicious variety. A great place to chill, grab a bite & have a good time. A DEFINITE MUST VISIT SPOT!!!
All was good. They were just out of a couple things.......things I wanted!
Food was okay but not what what was claimed on the restaurant website and not for the price. Special po' boy hardly had any lamb; it mostly was bread. Peanut romesco overpowered the trout. Salads had been sitting and were not crisp. Just seemed to miss the mark on every dish. Service was average. Need to know this is a bar/venue atmosphere, not a casual restaurant....did not see interior photos on website so I did not know this. Did not see it as a value.
We loved our time at South on Main. The food was exceptional. Served simply where the food itself could shine. Quality ingredients served just the way i like. This is my favorite kind of dining experience-reclaimed building, Southern Fare extraordinare, great service and our waitress was fun and didn’t take herself too serious. Love this place
Loved the music!
Our waiter was exceptional. The food was interesting but the presentation in a bowl instead of a plate left a little bit to the visual appetite.
Fun hip spot, great locally sourced food, and very friendly staff!
We went for an early dinner before catching a play. My stripped bass was perfect, while my wife’s ribeye although cooked perfect was cold when served.
The restaurant is very casual, and a band must play there regularly because there is a large stage in the center. The menu items were diverse. I had the braised rabbit which was really good, and my wife had the seared trout, which was very tasty. My only complaint was that they were out of an unusual amount of menu items on this particular day, and they were even out of several items on the wine and bar menu. The waiter came back 3 separate times to tell us they were out of what we ordered. Sort of annoying. I would definitely go back though.
Wonderful food!! Every dish was amazing!!!
Wonderful evening out. First a great dinner. The food was perfectly cooked. After dinner was a concert. It was fantastic. Sound, energy, and intimacy made it a great show. Will definitely be back.
Chris cash & his band were delightful, fun, & energetic. Food was surprisingly great. Great menu & approach to old southern favorites.
Excellent staff . Food is always great. Great location
This is the go to place for great food and entertainment!!! They never disappoint!
We loved this spot! It was our first time trying this place. The staff was excellent. The food was excellent. Parking lot across the street. This place is a must try! Will definitely be going back.
We went to South on Main for lunch while staying in Arkansas. I got the shrimp and grits and my wife got the country-fried steak. Both were DELICIOUS. I was hesitant to try the grits, since I'm a Yankee and the shrimp combo sounds kinda weird. I'm so glad I did because it knocked my socks off! The shrimp were also spicy and gave the whole dish a wonderful "kick". The country-fried steak was cooked to perfection ans the gravy sauce was also very delicious! I hope I get a chance to eat dinner here sometime!
Prior to dining at South on Main, I had heard many positive things. However, our experience was less than stellar. We dined fairly early, at 6:30 p.m., and our waiter informed us upon our arrival that they were out of the shrimp (which I intended to order) and the rabbit. Since there are few menu items available, this had a big impact on our choices. We ordered smoked cauliflower for an appetizer. The waiter returned to say they were also out of this item. I ordered a glass of moscato wine. The waiter said they did not have moscato. He brought me another wine that I did not like. However, my husband showed the waiter that moscato was indeed on the wine menu. He then brought the moscato, but charged me for the wine I did not like as well as charging me for the moscato.
We ordered the grilled chicken with broccoli and cheese rice. The rice was very good, but the chicken was very small, and tough. We also ordered the squash carbonara, which was delicious. The presentation was plain, portions small, but the taste was wonderful.
For dessert we had the peanut butter fritters, one of the two available desserts, which were terrible. They were over cooked, greasy, and had virtually no peanut butter taste. They drenched them in chocolate sauce, but that did not help. We could not eat them, and told the waiter that they were not good. Still, we had to pay for them. Over all, we paid $80 for basically rice and squash.
The service was fine, the atmosphere fine, but the food was lacking. Such a disappointment, as we were really excited to finally dine there.
I absolutely love South on Main!!! They are my go to place for good entertainment and the best drinks!! Their food ia awesome too!! The staff is so friendly!!! I always have a great experience!!
I was there to see Rodney Block and friends for the celebration of Bob Marley's birthday. Everything was great.
Food is fantastic! Service was friendly, but slow. Menu changes enough to keep it very fresh and interesting - awesome drink menu.
Some of the BEST food I've had in Little Rock- fresh, creative and delicious!
This place is great! Their food is always great. The service is a little slow which can sometimes cause things to be cold or wait for things for awhile. If you are prepared for that then this place is wonderful and the flavor of the food never disappoints! The actual wait staff and all staff are great and kind and knowledgeable! Just a little slow.
Wonderful dining experience! The food was unbelievably good. Plan to return soon.
Worst dining experience myself and 3 friends have ever had . In our 60s dine out regularly. Couldn't believe they served dishes that never should have left the kitchen! Terrible
Has been my favorite place in Little Rock for many years. Will miss dining here after I move. Chef Matt and his wife Amy are a great team. The food and drinks are creative and delicious. Sunday Brunch is terrific too. Highly recommend
I loved the feel of this little joint. It had a great ambience and looked to have live music on certain nights if you're into that. The service was splendid. The food lacked selection and flavor. The appetizer of the shrimp was pleasant but but not outstanding. The squash carbonara lacked any flavor and the sauce was watery. Their cocktail list was extensive so I would recommend this as a place to catch drinks and some live music bit maybe not dinner.
South on Main accepted our reservation through Open Table, and was closed when we arrived. Our special evening was ruined.
it can get super loud when their is live music obviously, but other than that I LOVE this place! Owners are wonderful! Great service. Food is lovely. Would recommend the rib eye or rabbit! Home made biscuit and oysters for apps!
Fabulous service! Great night out! Definitely worth the drive from WLR
We got great service from Tiara! Had a lovely dinner with family. Love South on Main!
Wonderful, & the waiter & chef even helped us find a roast for our Christmas dinner the next day. We were late getting into town from other Christmas party & had family gathering for Christmas Eve & still more shopping to do! Made our lives much easier!! Thank You very much!!!
