We were visiting University of Scranton
Needed a dinner recommendation
Waitress at the Corner Deli suggested Sambuca
The restaurant is devided by the bar in front and the dining room in back
The dining room felt comfortable and homey
There was even a piano in the corner which someone started playing halfway through our dinner, although they could probably put a few more tables there instead
Food was excellent, pasta was home made, the ingredients were fresh, the pacing of the courses was good, the wine list was appropriate for the cuisine
Deserts were fantastic
We had a great time and we will be returning again
An authentic Italian eatery
Did not like
1. It was dark inside, I had to use my cell phone light to read menu.
2. Service very slow.
3. Very noisy.
4. Got bread basket, bread served cold.
5. Portions very small.
Was stuck there almost 2 hours
Did not have desert.
The food was delicious and the service was great as always!
The food was good but not great. Unfortunately, when we were finished no one checked on us for about 25!minutes. We could not get anyone’s attention to get our check. No matter how good the food is , that ruins the night for me....
Excellent food! Excellent service! Excellent atmosphere! Nothing more to say.
Excellent service! Delicious food! Can't wait to go back!
They do a great job in all aspects of the business. Always go above and beyond what is required. Great piano music as well.
In the past we have always had a very nice experience at Sambuca & would recommend to others, this time, however, that was not the case.
Between the piano player & large group of girls next to us .. it felt like a concert not a restaurant .
Service was fair... waiter was pretty rude & no one ever came to see how everything was as we saw at all other tables. Two at our table ordered pasta Carbonara... there were no peas/ bacon / prosciutto as you would expect & it honestly just tasted like a pretty basic Alfredo. At $16.95 it was a small portion & the bread served with it was hard / stale
For $120 for three with no dessert or cofffee & only a glass of wine ... it’s hardly worth ever going back or recommending for others to do so.
It was the 2nd time in a row that we didn't get a candle and looking around it seems like they don't put candles out. This is a very nice candle lit type atmosphere and I don't know why there isn't at least a fake candle option at the tables. It is a bit dark in there and a real candle would be worth it.
Staff was very friendly, food was great! We will be back again!
Food was amazing, service was good, drinks were okay, looking forward to going back
Great experience. Went here for our preshow dinner They have never disappointed us
My wife and I tried out the Sambuca Grille for the first time last week. The staff was super friendly, and there was always someone there to refill your drink, or move empty plates out of the way. They didn't interrupt conversations as frequently as other restaurants. While the food was good it could have been better. For waiting almost exactly an hour, we had hoped it would 'wow' us a little more. A couple who had been seated 10 minutes before we received our plates, had their food in front of them 10 minutes after we got ours. They seemed to have known the staff and vice versa, so not too sure if that was the reason they had everything so quickly? Just a bit of communication as to what's happening in the kitchen would be a bit more helpful in the future. Not sure how there could be too many hiccups with there only being about 20 tables or less? Plan on trying again in the future. Everyone has rough nights, and we did like the feel of the restaurant.
This is the second time at Sambuca and it is one of the best restaurants we have been to. The food is delicious and the service great and friendly. We will certainly be back
It is great to see AUTHENTIC Italian food presented in a friendly atmosphere. The service was excellent and classy, offering good explanations and recommendations. The food quality was fantastic. Very flavorful and not too heavy. Definitely not an "American Italian" restaurant.
I will definitely be back!
One of the best restaurants in the area. Specials are always great and they will gladly accommodate any preferences.
Food and service was great
Food is incredible. One of the best meals I've had in the scranton area.
Sambuca Grill takes you back to the style and flair of restaurants in the 80s. Men in bowtie tuxedo's. Live piano. Very unobtrusive service. The lobster ravioli had unshredded lobster claw meat in it (the best part). Just saying, this restaurant has never let me down on a great date experience .
The food at Sambuca has been phenomenal every time I have been there. The wait staff has been friendly and the meals have been awesome. The portions are just enough.
Excellent service, everyone's meals were delicious, and we didn't feel rushed.
An authentic Italian experience. Highly recommend.
Great food. Specials were exceptional. Service was very attentive and wait staff very knowledgeable. Enjoyed piano atmosphere. Will return.
Awesome as usual
We arrived about 6:45 with no reservation (tried bu couldn't get one), they told us they had a table for 4 but we would have to be done by 8pm for a reserved party. We took it, had a great server, food was fantastic and the Stacey Mitchhart Band was great. When 8pm rolled around there were several open tables and we had already skipped on desert to give up our table like told :(
There were more than several specials. My wife chose the Chilean Sea Bass and was very pleased. I had the Saltimbacca Veal. It was good but now what I expected.
All-in-all, we would gladly go back.
A Top 5 restaurant in Northeast Pennsylvania. Truly in a class by itself. Fabulous food, staff and food. Feels like “Little Italy”
If you are looking for a romantic dining site, where you will be treated like a king, go to Sambuca Grill.
Homade pasta was excellent. Veal dish was very good, except a little thin on the prosuito.
No salad included with entry.
All around good service. Restaurant is fairly limited in seating.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. We love it here
My wife’s birthday dinner.
Loud crowd noise!
My girlfriend is obsessed with this place. It's amazing.
We ate here last year when visiting family and we wanted to enjoy another meal here on a return visit. Small but comfortable and great service and tasty food.
I’ve been to Sambuca at least 10 times over the past two years and it’s consistent in its ability to exceed expectations. Delicious food (rigatoni bolognese should be shared), great staff, and a lovely atmosphere. I love this place.
Limited menu on New Year's eve. Not a lot of choices for some people if they are picky eaters. I really enjoyed the salmon with armaretto sauce with side of vegetables. Pear salad was very good. The cheesecake was a delightful surprise. So delicious.
I have gone to Sambuca many times, and it’s usually a good experience. This time, however, it was not. I had braised beef over risotto. The risotto was undercooked, and barely seasoned. I ate the beef, and when the waitress came back I told her about the risotto. Her response was unacceptable. She looked at me and said “well if that’s what you think, I’ll let the chef know.” Immediately after that the next table over from me had the exact same complaint, and she responded with “I’m so sorry! What else can I get you? I don’t want you to go hungry!” I was excited to go to sambuca for New Year’s Eve, but now I seriously doubt I will ever go back.
Always delicious and staff is wonderful! Salmon was tender and so good. Love listening to Paul on the piano. One of our favorite restaurants for sure!
Have been here before and will go again. We had three different meals and all were great. One had pork masala one had chicken masala and one the tuna special. I would recommend any of these meals. The service is terrific. They are attentive without being obtrusive. It is also nice to be in a restaurant with a piano music. The piano player is very good and is interactive when called for.
We went here for a celebratory dinner after I completed medical treatment. The atmosphere was lovely--intimate seating with a gentleman playing piano and singing in the corner. Specials sounded amazing, and our dinners were brought to us quickly. Wait staff was attentive without hovering, and drinks were lovely. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
