The menu was missing healthier entrée options. I also felt they were trying to be too unique. They need at least one or two safety options for people that don't like to venture out of the norm too much. I.e. a burger, a sandwich, a hearty salad, and a soup. All Entrees seemed a bit overpriced as well.
The food was delicious at SALT. The fried chicken was delicious and so moist. We also had the saracha shrimp which had just the right about of kick to it. The cocktails were delicious and tasted so fresh.
Excellent food and service. A little pricey but a pretty good value.
Awesome place I loved it!
Great service and food !
Wonderful food. The manager apologized for the delay between appetizer and entry by deducting from the bill. We were impressed by his gracious offer.
Incredible service. Food was outstanding. Staff has been well trained and it shows.
Hard to choose what to recomend you place for...!!! To me it is the perfect spot, delicious food, good ambiance and outstanding staff, congratulations you all .and my favorite the fillet.... best thing ever made....!!!!!!!
Nice people and good food. A winner!
Outstanding food quality & preparation. Excellent service and comfortable surroundings.
Fantastic food and excellent service!! We are definitely heading back there soon. 😊
Food and drinks were extraordinarily delicious and staff was very attentive.
The food was really good. I had the Margret De Canard which was tasty, buttery; however, I would rather have liked it slightly fried on the sides - that would have made my taste buds explode! My wife had the pork ribs which were also quite tasty. The appetizer - bacon wrapped mollejas - was out of this world!
Not sure if the parking on the south side of the restaurant is all you have, but it left something to be desired.
The wait staff were on their game - really, really sharp!
Other than that, we'll be back for the steaks :)
Had dinner anniversary here. Service was great. Food and drink were even better. Place is small but very intimate. Chefs bar is a great spot to eat and watch the cuisine being created. A little over priced but it was worth it for an anniversary dinner.
Loved it all... The food, The drinks, and The atmosphere.. The staff was on point....
Great service staff every time I come here. They ran late on my reservation but the cute bar with the great all around selection of cocktails, wines and spirits made up for it. I would recommend seating outside for a more quiet romantic feel.
This was by far the best experience I have ever had at a restaurant. The staff was superb, very knowledgeable on the menu and drink pairings. Food came out in a timely manner. The quality of the food is what stands out the most to me. Mostly locally sourced ingredients of the best quality, prepared mostly in an open kitchen. SALT is a cozy, but upscale restaurant. It was certainly not something I expected to find in McAllen, but is the reason I would come back to McAllen for pleasure rather than business.
Other than much too loud with any kind of crowd. Everything was excellent
Sorry but it was nothing special about this place. And service quality doesn’t deserve the value of the price. There are much better fine dining restaurant in the valley and they are cheaper. I used live nyc, Miami Beach and even overthere, there are high quality service and food less pricey from here
This is an incredible restaurant. Warm and welcoming with people who really care about food. If I were local I would eat here at least once a week.
Just was not impressed with the dining experience for a special occasion. Was disappointed when comparing it to a couple other special occasion dining experiences we have had in the valley.
The food was so fresh and flavorful. The staff was great. I just wish that you had a restaurant in San Antonio.
I wish I could have Salt’s quail knots and pork chop every week. This placye is phenomenal every time. Can’t wait til next time.
First time here. Definitely worth the price... awesome food and service. WILL be back.
Worth every penny, the best restaurant that I know so far, and I would like to thanks JR for his time and knowledge.
The experience was wonderful as usual. Rachel was very efficient and accommodating. Our daughter specifically asked to have this evening before she went back to college. She loves loves loves the sweetbreads! Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Fabulous food and great, friendly service! I suggest eating at the chef's bar. The chefs are creative and provide small samples of some of their creations. Top three favorite places to eat ANYWHERE.
Enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Salt. Staff is courteous, attentive and food is excellent.
Our server Rachel was so sweet!
Great night. Food & service are always superb. You can’t go wrong with any of the appetizers. fried chicken, duck; & Piedmontese steak big winners tonight. The goat cheese ice cream was gone before I could taste, but the cream brûlée & beignets were great. Who can resist a donut?! Thanks for another great night.
Best Duck I’ve ever eaten! Reasonably priced, great drinks and appetizers too
Part of the best dining in the Rio Grande Valley! Salt is a great eating destination
Food is always delicious. Well prepared and presented beautifully!!! Sirachi shrimp are divine! The canard was scrumptious!
From the moment we entered the restaurant, we felt at home. The gracious and friendly hostess apologized that they were running slightly behind schedule and offered us seats at the Captain's Table, which is a counter next to the kitchen. Similar to eating at the bar but you watch the cooks prepare the food instead of the bartender prepare the drinks. Interesting idea but we declined and ordered drinks at the real bar. Less than 10 minutes later, we were at our table ready to order.
We had three appetizers - Sriracha Shrimp, Poke and Sweet Breads - all of which were excellent. For entrees, my daughter ordered the duck, my wife ordered the scallops and I had the squid ink pasta. All the dishes were excellent, a highly creative and well thought out fusion of Asian, Mexican and Euro-American flavors. Surprisingly, all of us rated the homemade bucatini as our favorite. (They spell it "buccatini" for some reason.) We finished our meal with Baked Alaska (!) and Creme Brulee. Wow!
Combined with perfect lighting and acoustics, the crisp, clean ambience, great service, original, fresh and perfectly prepared food and the large and reasonably priced wine list more than justifies the bill. SALT is well worth your time and money.
Although the food was the star of the experience, meeting Larry was very important for me. It gave me an idea about how the restaurant matured, which is very important.
Because of the dining room set up the place was a bit loud, which is not conducive to quiet conversation.
But the overall experience was excellent. I liked it so much I am going back again today.
My wife and I had a great time and great experience
More than excellent food. The staff is genuinely friendly and happy you are there.
It was a wonderful dinner out, celebrating our 40th anniversary, and the food was outstanding
and service, above and beyond
Great atmosphere and great food. Gatherings for both family and business. Wonderful menu selections!
We had dinner for our anniversary as we have for the last 3 years. Salt is one of our favorite places and it never disappoints. Fried chicken and Crispy Pork Shank were delicious. Great service!! Our menu was personalized and We were given a table by the front windows as requested. Nice touch.
