Sabor Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Seafood spectacular. Chef's family special was ideal for three of us dining. Outstanding piri-piri prawns - nice grill flavour, not too spicy as was expected in the title. Scallops were tasty too. But the trio of fish on lobster risotto was outstanding. Variety of fish, including wolf-fish - that I had never had before. Dessert tasters were perfect in size and provided good variety. In general, only comment I would add is that other than the cucumber base for the scallops, no vegetables in this entree offering. Great sharing choice and good value. Service was perfect too ... personable and there only when we needed her. Will be back.
The food was good, but the special (which required a minimum of 2 people to participate) was a bit on the small side. The main course that was halibut and sea bass with lobster risotto was in actuality mostly halibut, with a small chunk of sea bass on a bed of lobster risotto. The description from the menu and the waitress made it seem like there was more. Considering the price, I'm not sure I would order this again. The lobster risotto was also lacking in flavor and was a bit bland and not as creamy as I was expecting a risotto would be. I generally enjoy going to this restaurant, but I usually go to the Bodega section at the front and order tapas. I think I might stick to the front since I'm not sure that the flavor and portion sizes lived up to the inflated prices of the main restaurant.
You will not be disappointed. From first walking in you are greeted promptly, politely and professionally. The Waiter was professional through out the dinner, asking the right questions at the right time, filling your water glass, removing empty plates, replacing used utensils. The Meal was the highlight of the night. The best way to describe the food was by another person at our table when he said the Chilean Sea Bass was better here than in Santiago, Chile.
You will not be disappointed with anything at this restaurant. The food, the service, the drinks (Make sure you try the Sangria) and the atmosphere were all top notch!
This is without question the best seafood in Edmonton.
We ordered the "CHEF'S THREE-COURSE MENU" which is always amazing.
On this occasion it included ( for 3 people):
Piri piri prawns
Scallops in cucumber salad
Fresh oysters from Fanny Bay.
All of these were superb.
Pan cooked seas bass
Halibut chunk, poached
Lobster risotto, loaded with pieces of lobster.
Brilliant and a lot of food!
5 separate servings, each different and distinct:
Chocolate pepper mousse
LEITE CRÈME “DONA IRENE”
This is a meal that for 3 people, was overpowering
We HAD to take some home.
With 1 beverage, and tip: $238
Not bad for the quality and quantity
Wanted something special for our 10th Anniversary. We were scheduled to be in Halifax at a seafood restaurant, but were forced to cancel due to personal reasons. I was looking for a reasonable substitute and Sabor turned out to be better than either my wife or I could have hoped for. The food was exceptional and our waiter - Darren - a true professional, made the evening that much more special. We shall return every chance we get.
I attended Sabor with my mother, for the first sit down meal of my visit with her. Having not seen her in 6 years, I wanted the night to be something to remember.
Starting with our server, she was knowledgeable, well versed in the wine list and was neither over bearing, nor absent from our table. Her demeanor ws that of someone who wanted to share the experience of the restaurant with the patron, rather than someone who is just there for a paycheck.
The food was fantastic, my mother and I decided on the Chef 3 course family style.
The appetizers were constructed and paired in a way that complimented the other. Spicy prawns vs scallops with a cold cucumber slaw, to cut through the spice.
The seafood was prepared perfectly, scallops were medium at best, which was fantastic.
The chef also stopped by the table and had a chat with us, where we also discussed the similarities/differences between various species of Halibut.
The dessert portion was a trio of small dessert tasters. Cayenne chocolate mouse, Portuguese creme brulee. Cheesecake.
Beautiful food, the table service was top notch, the ambience was fantastic.
It was definitely a memorable night!
Thank you to the staff and owners for making that night one both my Mother and I will cherish.
This restaurant is outstanding in Edmonton. The servers are incredibly professional and are obviously hired for their competency. No ditsy short skirts with no ability to do the job. My wine glass was never empty yet I do not remember the server ever interrupting our conversation. The timing of the food and the taste of the food was perfect. It is the best restaurant I have eaten in in Edmonton. Bravo!!
