Ryan's Grill Ratings and Reviews
We were pleasantly surprised with the specials. My friend ordered the poki and he said it was excellent. I had the Ahi Belly katsu and it was divine and cooked to perfection. It was fresh, moist and not overly cooked. It was also fileted with no bones.
Our server was very attentive and she was wonderful. It was the perfect meal.
Thank you, Ryan's Grill. Can always count on this place to be the right choice.
Dinner for two on a Monday night. The restaurant was relatively quiet, and we enjoyed the view of Ala Moana Beach Park from our indoor table. We tried the Crispy Pork Lambrusco, one of the chef's specials, and a half-sandwich/salad comb of Artichoke and Crab Sandwich and the Pea Salad. Both the food and service were great!
Our out of town guests loved the view of the park as well as the delicious food. Our experience was very good EXCEPT the air conditioning was far too cold! Twice we asked our server to please adjust it, and the cold air never stopped. The other lady and I had to hold our napkins on our shoulders to keep warm. We would have stayed later for a post-dessert cocktail, but we had to go outside to warm up.
But the food was great and a good value. We'll definitely bring other guests because it is one of our favorite places. Will just hope it's warmer.
Food was great, but our server was terrible. I'm not sure if we caught him on a bad night, but his service was as slow as my grandmas driving. We were seated at 6:30 and was not greeted by our server a little after 7:00. Our guests and I were talking the whole time, but still, a half hour to acknowledge our presence is unacceptable in any restaurant setting. Strike 1! We ordered 3 beers and a glass of wine. He returned with 3 out of the 4 drinks. He asked what was the other beer we ordered because he couldn't read what he wrote down. Strike 2 buddy! Food arrived. Server didn't check back to see how our meals were or if we needed anything. Our guest had to ask a food runner for another drink. Didn't bother with dessert, and asked for the check. That was the fastest I've seen him move all night!
Very annoying to book a reservation and be greeted by a young lady who didn't verbally greet me or acknowledge my reservation! Instead she stared at her podium and another older gentleman came and asked me how many in your party and sat us in the bar seating. what is the point if booking and this was a business meeting then not being acknowledged then seated in the bar area which is noisy. The restaurant area was not busy.
Had a great family lunch with Judy our server was very attentive..my husband loves the salmon kalbi. I had the combo half sandwich and salad, love their souos too. Family had fish, ribs and steak...all were pleased. Happy Hour is also a value and not to allow ...enjoy the outdoor and waterfront seating...enjoy the chefs specials...always too many choices for one meal.
Got there a little early but we got seated after a few minutes. Our waitress Natalie was awesome. Kept coming back to make sure everything was okay. We ordered 2 appetizers and 1 one burger and that was very filling, actually took the burger home. The dessert was to die for. Thanks Natalie, it was a wonderful date!
Our waitress was very nice and friendly. She checked on us several times. I wish I was better in remembering names so i could give her a great review but I have to work on that. Even the hostess was very nice and accommodating. Very good staff. Our food came very timely and what we ordered was very tasty. We shared the three salad sampler and the lettuce cups and it was more then enough. We were very happy with our selection. I would order that again. And the happy hour house red wine was very easy to drink, very nice especially at happy hour. We will definitely return to Ryan's!
Everything was great except, as usual, it took a long time to get served a piece of pie that is already made. This happens all the time so I told my family not to order dessert but they did not listen. So we waited and waited until the server brought the dessert plates, then we told him to cancel the pie order since it took too long and asked for the check. Manager came by, apologized and offered the pie at no charge.
Was in the mood for French Onion Soup. Ryan's soup is pretty good. They also have a lot of small dishes to go along with the soup. We shared a Chopped salad, Crap/Artichoke dip and roasted duck with bun. Something was wrong with the A/C so it was getting warm until our server (Judy, who was excellent) asked someone to turn on the ceiling fan. We enjoyed our lunch and would go back again.
The food was really good except for some over-salted poke. Our waiter was very good. Good ambiance, nice crowd, but not too noisy. The air conditioning was too cold. I was shivering by the end of the meal and I saw a girl at another table use her napkin like a blanket pulled up to her chin. The people next to us asked to move to another table because it was too cold. Overall a great place. I would come back with a thick jacket.
Love Ryan's; but I think we had a new/inexperienced waiter. He tried hard; but not seasoned so he lapsed on memorizing the specials, refilling drinks. Polite and nice though; didn't make excuses. Everyone has to start of somewhere right? Overall, great food, ambiance, and service.
