Great service, unique local and farm fresh menu items that were very good including the cocktails. We will definately return.
Excellent dinner and service.
Service excellent. Fish dinner (Drum) was expertly cooked and very good. Wifes shrimp and grits were ho-hum, unfortunately. Appetizers, fried green tomatoes, and stuffed (
chevey goat cheese) squash flowers were delicious
Hubby and I were running around the Wilmington area and decided to try a new restaurant downtown since it's on our way home to Southport. We're very happy we landed at RX Restaurant! The neighborhood is 'up and coming,' don't let that distract you. The building is a former pharmacy, hence the name. The food is all farm-to-table and divine. Very nice wine list. Our server, Miguel, was a delight and walked us thru the preparation of each entree. We ordered deviled eggs with smoked triggerfish (nice touch!), fried green tomatoes with pimento (mmmmmm!), Hubby had the black drum (excellent), and I had shrimp and grits (not your typical heavy 'gravy'). The overall theme here is super fresh, "clean" ingredients that are left to stand on their own - no over seasoning. We visited early on a mid-June evening, and the restaurant was empty when we first arrived but started to fill up by the time we left. We will definitely return, a nice addition to Wilmington's downtown dining scene. Highly recommended for date night and/or foodies.
Food was great. Good plate presentation. Service was good waiter seemed a bit rushed perhaps overwhelmed (too many tables to attend to) Noise level was high.
Rx was outstanding. The drinks were delicious. I had a Lavender Vesper and my spouse had The Cure, a pickle martini type construct. The mood in the restaurant was happy and cozy and our waiter Rick was kind, funny and very knowledgeable. The portions were generous without being too much and we left well fed. All the ingredients were fresh and well made. We will definitly be back!
Great service and food! Farm to table. Nice opportunity to enjoy locally grown and made products.
Wonderful meal! RX was recommended by a colleague who lives in Wilmington, and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner there. All food is locally sourced. Service is warm and capable, not intrusive but responsive. Our meals were beautifully prepared and delicious! Great place for a celebration -- or just to treat yourself to a great meal!
We love RX and consider it one of Wilmington’s best restaurants. The food is consistently good and the staff and servers very accommodating. We can’t wait to go again and see what new items will be featured.
I love RX. The food is delicious and the presentation so amazing. I love the variety and freshness of the food. The staff is friendly and attentive. They do not make you feel rushed. The chef is accommodating. An evening at RX is a special occasion whether the reason celebratory or not. A pleasure to dine here.
Felt food was ok not enough choices . Service was good. Overpriced for food. Cheese plate was good
Great food, Rick was great server as usual!
Menu was limited but contained all major categories. Food combinations and flavors were very well matched. Service was excellent. Only drawback is location.
Very satisfied. The local food, as advertised, was amazing. It had such a different flavor profile than ordinary restaurants.
My family and I simply cannot get enough of the love that the RX puts into every dish they make. Using the finest local produce and suppliers, they are providing some of the best cuisine the city of Wilmington has to offer. Couple this with there amazing& friendly staff you will find yourself wanting to come back to the RX!!
My family loves RX. The food is always excellent, the wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the restaurant has a fun vibe.
Rx is a Wilmington NC gem. Make sure that you try different plates because you will miss out on some great food if you don't. Get a table full of dishes and enjoy. Servers are friendly and you can choose from great drinks, fine wines and beers. Easy parking makes this a wonderful place to enjoy dinner. Bring your friends and family for a tasty meal. They will make you a custom menu for special events. Love Rx.
Located in the old Hall’s Drug Store building on the corner of Castle and 5th Streets, this is the real deal in chef driven, locally sourced, fine dining.
There is nothing snooty about the place although it could put on airs if it wished. No, here you’ll find friendly, helpful waits and a menu featuring the best from this costal community’s farmers and fishermen—and that is a bounty indeed.
A lot of noise is generated by the restaurant’s fried pig’s ears version of Buffalo chicken wings including the blue cheese dressing—but I’d suggest the Crispy Pork Rillettes, (think pork stuffed hush puppies), excellent.
I had Charlotte’s Egg for an entree which is a terrific vegetarian option and shows the chef’s expertise with local vegetables.
The wine list is exceptional. There are 30 or 40 reds and another 30 or 40 whites. Many of the bottles are very reasonably priced ($30). The staff is very helpful in assisting you if you would like—I alway do learn something when I ask a few questions as well as wind up with a perfect wine for dinner. In this case a wonderful pinot gris from Oregon’s Willamette Valley for $40. Delicious.
RX is worth a visit for fine food and wine.
This was a return trip to RX for some of us and a first visit for others. As always the food was excellent. Our service tonight was outstanding. We had the heirloom tomatoes and smoked fish spread as appetizers and they were delicious. For entrees our group had NY strip steak, shrimp and grits and two different chicken dishes and all were wonderful. Will definitely be back again.
Interesting menu, the food tasted great, and service was good.
Wonderful local dining experience!
Miguel is an excellent, excellent waiter. Hostess, too. But tables were too close together for our taste; we were not offered a booth (tho we didn't specifically ask), despite small crowd. Generous portions. Was not informed that pigs' ears app and duck entree were spicy. Would recommend highly. Pricey, tho not unreasonable; farm-to-table can add to food cost, I know. Still, we are not in Manhattan.
This was a great Sunday brunch for Mother's Day. The food was terrific, fresh and unique. Our service was excellent. This is a "go-to" restaurant with amazing food. Fresh soft-shell crab for me and shrimp and grits for my bride of 39 years.
Mother’s Day Brunch
We went to Rx for Mother's Day brunch. We were very promptly seated. Our waiter was very attentive and brought us some delicious little biscuits and butter. We had no trouble finding things we wanted to try and were not disappointed. Everything was fresh and delicious. We were too full for dessert, but he brought me a chocolate dipped strawberry for Mother's Day! Will definitely go back.
One of our favorite restaurants in Wilmington. The shrimp and grits were excellent with just the right amount of seasoning. The staff is attentive, and made very good recommendations.
Great food, quick service
Great restaurant. Well worth the price. All food is local and menu changes daily based on the season of meat and vegetables. Will definitely visit again.
Wonderful experience. Great food, experienced and professional staff, and great place for any occasion.
Skip the pig ears appetizer and ice cream sandwich dessert - left both on the plate. Service rated low because these dishes highly recommended by the waiter. Pork chop cooked perfectly - vegetables great but too much salt spoiled the dish. Ambiance / local ingredients best attributes.
I had a friend recommend Rx and I am so happy with the recommendation! The staff was so wonderful and helpful with the menu and everything. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant! I only wish it could be moved closer downtown as it’s a little bit of a hike if you walk rather than drive.
Excellent across the board. Look forward to coming back.
RX is a favorite spot of ours to frequent for date nights and celebratory dinners and this past visit was no exception. My husband got the Humble Roots Fried Chicken and I had the duck and both were absolutely amazing...oh and make sure do not skip the pig ears. The final treat was a delicious chocolate peanut butter panacotta...just wow! Go and enjoy!
Great service, very quiet Saturday evening dinner. Had the fried chicken, sweet potatoes and collards, corn bread and biscuits.
Great menu creativity and flavors, they nailed it tonight.
RX never dissapoints‼️
Your friends from Old City Barbeque 💙
Farm to table experience with very caring staff.
I live in Charleston SC--some say the gastronomic center of the South, but Rx certainly would fit in!
What a gem ! Loved the neighborhood the restaurant was in . Food was delicious !! Salads were fresh with just right amount of dressing . Duck was very flavorful. Fried chicken was yummy . Good selection of wine.
This is a great restaurant. I always enjoy the food and the bar at this place. It can sometimes be a little noisy but not bad. We live about 25 minutes north of the restaurant area so this is a trip for us but we do it several times a year. I always recommend this spot to people staying downtown.
