Rx is a Wilmington NC gem. Make sure that you try different plates because you will miss out on some great food if you don't. Get a table full of dishes and enjoy. Servers are friendly and you can choose from great drinks, fine wines and beers. Easy parking makes this a wonderful place to enjoy dinner. Bring your friends and family for a tasty meal. They will make you a custom menu for special events. Love Rx.
Located in the old Hall’s Drug Store building on the corner of Castle and 5th Streets, this is the real deal in chef driven, locally sourced, fine dining.
There is nothing snooty about the place although it could put on airs if it wished. No, here you’ll find friendly, helpful waits and a menu featuring the best from this costal community’s farmers and fishermen—and that is a bounty indeed.
A lot of noise is generated by the restaurant’s fried pig’s ears version of Buffalo chicken wings including the blue cheese dressing—but I’d suggest the Crispy Pork Rillettes, (think pork stuffed hush puppies), excellent.
I had Charlotte’s Egg for an entree which is a terrific vegetarian option and shows the chef’s expertise with local vegetables.
The wine list is exceptional. There are 30 or 40 reds and another 30 or 40 whites. Many of the bottles are very reasonably priced ($30). The staff is very helpful in assisting you if you would like—I alway do learn something when I ask a few questions as well as wind up with a perfect wine for dinner. In this case a wonderful pinot gris from Oregon’s Willamette Valley for $40. Delicious.
RX is worth a visit for fine food and wine.
This was a return trip to RX for some of us and a first visit for others. As always the food was excellent. Our service tonight was outstanding. We had the heirloom tomatoes and smoked fish spread as appetizers and they were delicious. For entrees our group had NY strip steak, shrimp and grits and two different chicken dishes and all were wonderful. Will definitely be back again.
Interesting menu, the food tasted great, and service was good.
Wonderful local dining experience!
Miguel is an excellent, excellent waiter. Hostess, too. But tables were too close together for our taste; we were not offered a booth (tho we didn't specifically ask), despite small crowd. Generous portions. Was not informed that pigs' ears app and duck entree were spicy. Would recommend highly. Pricey, tho not unreasonable; farm-to-table can add to food cost, I know. Still, we are not in Manhattan.
This was a great Sunday brunch for Mother's Day. The food was terrific, fresh and unique. Our service was excellent. This is a "go-to" restaurant with amazing food. Fresh soft-shell crab for me and shrimp and grits for my bride of 39 years.
Mother’s Day Brunch
We went to Rx for Mother's Day brunch. We were very promptly seated. Our waiter was very attentive and brought us some delicious little biscuits and butter. We had no trouble finding things we wanted to try and were not disappointed. Everything was fresh and delicious. We were too full for dessert, but he brought me a chocolate dipped strawberry for Mother's Day! Will definitely go back.
One of our favorite restaurants in Wilmington. The shrimp and grits were excellent with just the right amount of seasoning. The staff is attentive, and made very good recommendations.
Great food, quick service
Great restaurant. Well worth the price. All food is local and menu changes daily based on the season of meat and vegetables. Will definitely visit again.
Wonderful experience. Great food, experienced and professional staff, and great place for any occasion.
Skip the pig ears appetizer and ice cream sandwich dessert - left both on the plate. Service rated low because these dishes highly recommended by the waiter. Pork chop cooked perfectly - vegetables great but too much salt spoiled the dish. Ambiance / local ingredients best attributes.
I had a friend recommend Rx and I am so happy with the recommendation! The staff was so wonderful and helpful with the menu and everything. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant! I only wish it could be moved closer downtown as it’s a little bit of a hike if you walk rather than drive.
Excellent across the board. Look forward to coming back.
RX is a favorite spot of ours to frequent for date nights and celebratory dinners and this past visit was no exception. My husband got the Humble Roots Fried Chicken and I had the duck and both were absolutely amazing...oh and make sure do not skip the pig ears. The final treat was a delicious chocolate peanut butter panacotta...just wow! Go and enjoy!
Great service, very quiet Saturday evening dinner. Had the fried chicken, sweet potatoes and collards, corn bread and biscuits.
Great menu creativity and flavors, they nailed it tonight.
RX never dissapoints‼️
Your friends from Old City Barbeque 💙
Farm to table experience with very caring staff.
I live in Charleston SC--some say the gastronomic center of the South, but Rx certainly would fit in!
What a gem ! Loved the neighborhood the restaurant was in . Food was delicious !! Salads were fresh with just right amount of dressing . Duck was very flavorful. Fried chicken was yummy . Good selection of wine.
This is a great restaurant. I always enjoy the food and the bar at this place. It can sometimes be a little noisy but not bad. We live about 25 minutes north of the restaurant area so this is a trip for us but we do it several times a year. I always recommend this spot to people staying downtown.
We were a group of four going for dinner and theater. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating to our timing needs for the theater. The menu is a Day by Day affair, with very interesting local items, all of which looked delicious. Two of us had the shrimp and grits and the other two had two different types of chicken. All were quite good and ample, with local sides. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a great evening meal.
We had an excellent experience at RX on Easter. Our server was fantastic and the food was AMAZING. Seriously, this place is GEM. Highly recommend!
Food was incredible & Rick was an awesome server. He made a great experience fantastic. Want to try a few of the specialty cocktails next time. Will arrive earlier. (8:30 res).
Wonderful and creative food from beginning to end. The waitstaff knows their stuff too. The noise level is a tad high but we had absolutely no difficulty conversing. Really a special place!
Very attentive and friendly service. The food was exceptional with well crafted cocktails. Definitely will be going back again.
Always consistent! Ingredients are fresh, menu is unique. Brunch is excellent.
Our dinner and service was outstanding. The whole staff really cares about the food that they are serving
As a non-meat eater, choosing RX was a gamble. I am sure their meat and meat enhanced options are amazing, but the meals we had were a bit bland.
Our appetizer of Topsail oysters and our wine pairing was delicious.
And, our server was friendly and knowledgeable.
As newbies to the neighborhood we heard Rx was one of the best places to eat around and it did not disappoint. The waiter, Rick, was fun and honest with his opinions and recommendations from the menu. We had a few snacks, a first, and shared an entree with a bottle of wine...perfect. The pork belly was prepared just right and their biscuits, yum. I cannot wait to continue to explore their menu including brunch. It may be dangerous living within a few blocks of such a delicious restaurant.
Lot's of places emphasize farm-to-table connections. RX does a great job at transforming local ingredients into creative takes on traditional regional cuisine.
I really enjoyed the shrimp and grits...though I could have easily savored more their fresh and well-accompanied oysters (I had a half dozen) instead.
Looking forward to returning soon!
We enjoyed the restaurant. Service and food were great. They have a good drink selection but be prepared to wait for it, but very good when it came.
Will be back again.
Amazing!! Best food in Wilmington! The service was top knotch and the food was steller, so amazing!
Excellent meal. Food was delicious and very enjoyable. The biscuits that come with the Smoked ham and pimento cheese were as close to perfect as I have found in a restaurant. The rest of the meal was outstanding with great service throughout.
Staff is very nice, food was delicious, their menu is a little annoying and pretentious, but enjoyed ourselves
Six of us had a great time and wonderful meals this week at Rx. Every item was unique, local, and fresh. We all tried something different and shared. The service was perfect. Highly recommend this farm to table gem.
We love Rx! The location is just minutes from Market St downtown but there are no parking issues at all. The food is amazing and innovative, and they are using only the freshest ingredients. It’s a fun and lively experience and the wait staff is outstanding.
