Ruth's Chris Steak House - Asheville Ratings and Reviews

We go often to the same owner's properties in Charlotte. As always, we were afforded a luxurious good time and all of the right kind of attention, great wine recommendations, great food, and one of the nicest outdoor dining patios ever!
The Beverage Director/Sommelier is particularly noteworthy. Our server, Miss Grassi, was exceptional.

We celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary here. We let them know ahead of time and they gave us a couple of glasses of champagne. We both had the petite filet...which was delicious. Also Brussel sprouts an roasted corn as sides. Good, but didn't stand out. Our server recommended a very nice Cabernet that didn't break the bank. Crème Brule' for desert was excellent as well. I've read some reviews that suggest this location isn't up to Ruth's Chris standards. I disagree, we've been here several times and it's always been top notch.

Tami was the BEST server! The food was great, of course. But it was Tami who made our dining experience great! Great conversation and recommendations. The Espresso Martini is the best drink I've ever had! And for dessert, she brought me a small chocolate mouse just because my date and I couldn't agree which awesome dessert to get. Yes. I let my date choose the creme brûlée for us. When you go to the Asheville location, ask for Tami.

The bone in filet is phenomenal and the Ruth chopped salad is absolutely wonderful. The 3 sides we shared were more than the 4 of us could eat. Definitely save room for dessert. Service was spot on. We brought our daughter and future son-in-law in for their first visit and they definitely enjoyed the whole experience. We drove from the Tri-cities TN area and it is well worth the trip.

The steak was fantastic. We had the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes (our waiter brought those out and said "they were on him"). That was a nice touch. Thanks Casey! Casey was very knowledgeable about meat (all the way down to what the best knife to use (BTW, if you get the bone in filet, you get to choose what knife you would like to use). The steak was able to be cut with a regular butter knife, it was so tender. The butter on the steak was heavenly. We had the calamari for an appetizer and the creme brule' for dessert. Both were fantastic.
The bathrooms needed a bit of attending and some touch up on the fixtures, as they seemed a bit old. We had a reservation for 7:15 and I had requested a booth. Upon arrival, we were told that the table wasn't ready. At 7:30, we were told that there were 2 parties finishing up with dessert and were asked if we wanted to continue to wait for the booth or get a table that was ready immediately. We choose to wait for the booth. We were updated frequently on the status of the table. We were finally seated at 7:50. It was worth the wait though. The host was very nice throughout the process.

Almost perfect. Good quality of meat for steaks but the cooking process is a mess. I know you take pride in the 500 degree plate it is served on but it ruins the cook . My wife and I like them medium rare with a little red in the center but by the time it cools enough to eat from the too hot plate the steak is medium rendering a steak not worth the money it cost.
Have the chef and manager try to eat the meat as it is served and they will see.
I will eat at a Ruth Chris again for my wife's sake we but won't waste our money on a steak that is overcooked and tough. You are consistent! The last three occasions the experience was the same.

Food was excellent. Service was fair. They really should have cleared our salad plates before bringing the entrees. The most disappointing was that we had them pack the leftovers and when we opened them for dinner the next night, they hadn't packed any of the sides. We were quite disappointed that they didn't pack what we asked them to. That said, all in all, it was a good way to celebrate a birthday.

The food was good as usual. However, we sat at a table in a crowded part of the restaurant, and the waiter must have had too many tables because the service wasn't up to usual standards. Also, the biggest disappointment, I booked through open table and chose a reservation time that was supposed to be worth 1000 points but I only received 100 points. This issue should be addressed as it has happened before.
Our experience at the Asheville Ruth's C ...
Our experience at the Asheville Ruth's Chris location has declined significantly over the years that we have been going to the restaurant. Our group eats at many of the fine dining restaurants in Asheville and expects the best in service. When this location originally opened under the first couple of managers, the service was outstanding as was the food. Since the present manager took over, service has declined to such a point that our group will have to seriously consider going back. In our most recent visit, we waited in the lobby almost 30 minutes after our reservation time. Once seated, it was almost another 30 minutes before we were even served water. We had brought our own wine and asked for wine glasses and decanters when seated but again took almost 30 minutes to get water. The server never refilled waters even though asked several times. Our orders were not taken for almost an hour and the service was almost non-existent. We flagged down several other servers asking them to send our server over and they were not helpful and did not offer to refill waters. One person informed the server that she was gluten intolerant and needed a gluten free dessert for the tasting menu however the server brought her a gluten filled dessert and did not reappear until after everyone was done and did not offer to discount the bill appropriately. The Ruth's chain needs to seriously look at the mismanagement of this location and address if they do not want to lose customers.

We visited during Biltmore Restaurant Week, so the value was outstanding. Overall, very pleased. A few suggestions: 1) Looking at the online Happy Hour drink menu, I saw Ruth's Manhattan offered at a special price, but it was not included in the Asheville Happy Hour menu --disappointed. 2) Steak with pepper sauce too peppery-had to scrape it off. Now know to order the sauce on the side. 3) Seated under an air vent. Very cold air blowing down on me prevented me from enjoying my meal. On the positive side, I cannot eat chocolate and both desserts offered on the special menu were chocolate. Our server asked the manager if I could substitute a non-chocolate dessert and was able to do so. Pleased.

I love Ruth's Chris. The food is amazing. My only gripe is that it never fails every time we get there and have a set reservation, we always have to wait. I don't get it. I see open tables so why not staff better to fill the restaurant. What's the point of having a reservation?!

Ruth's Chris has the best meat in Asheville. It's tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked every time. The creamed spinach is my favorite side. The restaurant decor is attractive. Although the restuarant is busy, it is quiet enough to hold conversations with people at one's table. there is free valet parking where one can get out of the car under a porte cochere.

Our dining experience was good because we were seated in quiet booths. If we had been out in the main dining room the experience would not have been as comfortable. Why do restaurants go to great lengths to created excellent food but make their patrons eat it in loud, uncomfortable settings?

The atmosphere, quality of the food, and service are all 5 star. We were treated like royalty and greeted by the GM, the beverage manager, and had seamless exquisite service by Steve and other staff members who attended to every detail.
Every time we have guests in town we bring them here and have never been disappointed. The Asheville location is the best Ruth's ever !

Not much value in $50+ steaks, and completely ala carte sides. But RC has the formula for accurately cooked beef and delicious sides. I was surprised at the dress code, or lack thereof, as patrons came in jeans, baggy swim suits, sleeveless T-shirts and sandals. Getting dressed up for a special occasion and sitting next to a couple that just came from a day at the beach was unexpected. We had a 5:30 reservation and arrived at 5:20, we sat for 15 minutes while walk-ins were promptly seated while we waited, this made no sense to us. We will try another place before we consider going back.

I chose from the chef's selection menu because experience has taught me that usually these are your best menu items. This case was the exception. I had a sirloin steak that was over-peppered and basically ruined. My daughter had chicken that was mediocre. My son immensely enjoyed his prime rib. For the cost, I would have expected a better tasting meal for my daughter and I. The service was exceptional.

Excellent food and drinks. It was a special occasion and we were offered a small drink of champagne to celebrate. We were also given an extra vegetable gratis for the group. The service was outstanding. An unforgettable evening.

Celebrated our anniversary. Ruth's Chris has Greta ambience whether sitting in the restaurant or bar. Steak and Rose special was delicious... Wish this was offered all the time.... It is the perfect size for small appetite. Waiterstaff is always great.. Especially Devon who did not wait on us this evening.

Food was plentiful, we probably could have gotten by without the appetizer, soup and salad, but we had leftovers so we got to enjoy it twice. I told them when we sat down it was our anniversary but wish I had put it on the reservation, I noticed other folks received flowers and champagne to commemorate their special days, there were lots of anniversaries that night. The service was excellent.
