Rusty Scupper - Baltimore Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful atmosphere, customer service oriented employees, excellent food.
I did notice, however, that the prices have increased a lot since the last time I was there.
I would ask that nutrition details be added to the menu. I felt that there may have been
excessive salt and fat used in the food prep.
Just suggesting that some of those extra additives may not be necessary.
The Sunday buffet is always a treat. I would especially recommend that if you are an omelette eater that you get in line for the whitty charm from the gentleman that prepare this delightful food. In addition to the freshness of all the fixings, these gentleman also offer personable service. We especially love Chris he always offers us his service with a smile and warm greeting every time we come to the restaurant. We've been to lots of Jazz brunches but The Rusty Scupper wins every time - hands down they are the best.
Lovely service and food, just a tad expensive and very loud inside. (could just be from the people that sat around us) Very nice and friendly staff, they have a shuttle for downtown which is very nice. The bread and dipping sauce that they give is amazing!!!
After many years of living in Balitmore, I finally made it to the Rusty Scupper. It was underwhelming, to say the least. We had two servers, who were training a 3rd server - which is fine. But they seemed to not be communicating with each other, and ended up leaving us alone for multiple long stretches. There was nothing "bad" about the food, but it was certainly not worth the high prices on the menu. There were some strange aspects as well - for example, the bread did not come with butter or olive oil, but rather a "bread sauce" -- which basically tasted like salad dressing (maybe thousand island?). Calamari was fine. I got the scallops, which were fine, and my husband got the halibut - which had no sauce/seasoning/flavor. For dessert, we got the trio - a key lime pie, pumpkin cheesecake, and chocolate cake - all of which were...fine. Nothing great. Probably won't go back and it's not worth the money.
Rusty Scuppers was delicious and the view was fabulous. The amount of money you spend to come to this restaurant, the service could have been better. Here are a few examples. When I ask for Lemons, I should not have to ask again. When a customer is walking in hallway to restroom or anywhere and another server is crossing their path, customer should always have right away. All meals should be brought out at same time. Ladies should be served first. I am being knit picky, however when you're spending $75/person I think I have every right to be wined and dined! The food was very good. We enjoyed two appetizers, the calimari and crab/artichoke dip. Both were delicious. The bread was good, but olive oil and seasoning would have been even better to dip in it. I enjoyed the crab cakes and my husband enjoyed the stuffed shrimp and both were delicious! The asparagus was very good too. Everything was delicious, I think the service should reflect the food. Thanks!
Scallops were fantastic so were the crabcakes the Maryland crab soup is excellent the cream of crab soup was excellent the service was excellent this restaurant has fantastic views and overall excellent rating I would take anyone there for a business or special occasion it is a bit pricey for every day dining.
The worst oyster on the half shell I've ever had because the shucker was obviously incompetent or untrained. Out of a dozen oysters, at least 4 had broken shells, most had pieces of shell in with the oyster, and several looked as if the oysters had been mangled by the shucking knife. The Blue Points were not to blame, just destroyed by the shucker. The calamari was tough. The rib eye steak was tough. The scallops were tasty, but served at luke warm temperature. This place is way overpriced. Maybe they think the lovely scene of Baltimore's Inner Harbor justifies the prices, but I'll not go out of my way to eat here again.
Overall, this restaurant has a great view of the Harbor. However, we were placed near the stair case to the third level. This area was not meant for a table and serving customers. There was a significant draft in this area. The Smith Island Cake is very good but is pricey at $16 slice. Also the crab cakes are good but very pricey at $42.
Rusty Scupper is always an incredible experience for Sunday brunch. Have been attending brunches at the Scupper for several decades. It’s still the best brunch in Baltimore. The array of food, the exceptional service and the ambiance ( the inner harbor as your backdrop) is by far the best in Baltimore.
I ate at the Rusty Scupper particularly to try their lump crab cake. While delicious, it was quite small for the price (24.95$) and served on a standard white hamburger bun (with the expected tomato slice & lettuce and pickle wedge). The accompanying serving of sweet potato fries was small and overcooked.
The best things about my experience was the wonderful view of the bay, my upbeat and attentive server and the few bites of delicious crab cake.
This restaurant is highly overrated
The food was marginal. Restaurant is dated and needs a thorough cleaning. I could see into the kitchen and it was FILTHY
Chairs were stored in the front entrance by the water wall. Our waiter was awful and basically ignored us after he took our order.
The service wasn't that great, our waiter was a nice guy but you wouldn't see him for long periods of time. Drinks took quite awhile to get, I saw one table of guys go up to the bar themselves to get drinks because they were tired of waiting. The oysters I ordered as an app showed up almost the same time as the main course. It took almost 2 hours for just 2 of us, and that's without getting dessert. Other tables came in after us, got their entrees and left before ours arrived. Other than that oysters were good and the crab cakes had plenty of meat in them.
Outstanding! Many of the menu items are specialties of the Chesapeake Bay area (think seafood on top of seafood) and it was all superb. We had a table overlooking the water at Inner Harbor, Baltimore, watching the sunset and the city-scape as it lit up for the night. Beautiful is too mild a word. Our waiter was a gem. Perfect evening.
