Rocky River Grille Ratings and Reviews
Our server, Aubrey, was attentive but laid back enough that we did not feel rushed and were able to relax. She went the extra mile helping me get better cell phone reception! The crab cakes were all crab and melted in your mouth. The petit filet was tender and the broccolini and potatoes and rice were cooked to perfection. The wine choices were good.
We where both first time visitors to the restaurant and the food was amazingly good, the people/hostee was just as awesome, very accommodating. This spot is more than you could image it to be. Awesome place to Dine or just kick back for moment. Oh, did I mention reasonable, you must try the not on menu Buffet.
Go somewhere else
Rocky River Grill is slightly ok for steak, but does not deliver food that is especially memorable. Any attempt they make at any other dish results in something drastically underwhelming. The service is slow and without personality. We were shuttled off into a room with several other couples, but it lacked any sense of ambiance whatsoever.
If you are at the Embassy Suites (where the restaurant is located), get Uber to take you somewhere else. If you think it sounds interesting on the OpenTable app, I recommend finding something else.

The food was good. Presentation was nice but it was only warm not hot. I had seen this mentioned in other reviews and it's definitely true. Noise level was low. It was pleasant to be able to have a conversation and not feel like we had to yell at one another.
Nice Variety and Convenient Location
We have been to Rocky River Grille 2 times now and enjoy the menu variety and the convenient location as compared to Charlotte uptown restaurants that come with parking headaches or valet costs. This restaurant is located inside the Embassy Suites in Concord, so the atmosphere suffers a little, but overall it is nice with good service.
More like a cafeteria less like fine dining.
The ambience was more of a cafeteria style versus a romantic evening. We felt like we were dining in the hotel lobby. The ambience does not match the price. Also I ordered steak, potatoes and broccoli and my potatoes tasted stale. My husband order plantain stuffed pork which he liked. I'd say the food was ok (outside of the stale potatoes), but the ambience really contributed to my poor review of this restaurant.
Was expecting a loud crash
Thought the food tasted okay, but it just didn't seem like it was prepared fresh. The peanut butter dessert was really good. The stuffed peppers were good. It felt like we were in a bowling alley, however. At no point would I have been surprised with that additional noise. Didn't know it existed prior to restaurant week and probably wouldn't go back. Staff was nice enough, but it took three attempts and about ten minuted for waters.
I had the chocolate scallops-delicious! ...
I had the chocolate scallops-delicious! The waitress recommended them and the dish did not disappoint. The broccolini and sweet potato sides were also excellent. My husband took advantage of the buffet that was there for the Ichiban (anime) convention taking place in the hotel. Great people watching!!
Terrific venue for small group
Our book club wanted a nice, festive spot with good food, yet quiet enough for group discussion. Rocky River Grille for an early December midweek lunch was perfect. Our waiter, Eric, was terrific & all staff members were welcoming and professional. The menu was varied and our choices, including desserts, were delicious. An attractive, clean facility. We will return.
Nice treat from an ordinary dinner
Wanted an "outside the box" dinner experience, something different from the usual chain places we visit. Brought my 8 yr old daughter to the Embassy Suites' Rocky River Grille & we were pleasantly surprised with the beautiful surroundings. There was a very large convention in the hotel at the same time, so the dining room was extremely dead. Our server, Juan, was so polite and helpful with suggestions. The french onion soup was delicious, and I had the Delmonaco Ribeye as my entrée (daughter had the petite filet); both were delicious and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was contemporary and clean, clean, CLEAN! Wine list was also reasonably priced. I will definitely be back!
Quiet birthday celebration with friends
We invited another couple to join us for dinner and to celebrate my wife's birthday - low key. While our server (Shannon) likely suspected it was a special celebration, she did not push it , and my wife was very pleased as a result.
The crab dip in a bread bowl appetizer was excellent. The favorite entree was the prime rib. It was (un)cooked perfectly rare - exactly how we ordered it. The horseradish-encrusted salmon entree left us a bit wanting. The salmon was perfectly moist and flaky, however the horseradish topping added nearly zero flavor.
Our server (Shannon) was very attentive to our needs. She was pleasant, witty, and she made our evening more special. We will certainly return to this hidden gem that stands above the masses of chain restaurants in the area.
Nice time at Rocky River Grille
I am very impressed with Rocky River Grille. The waiter was very courteous and friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant. The food was good too! I had the parmesan crust salmon. It was good. They were having a special on the prime rib and several members of our party chose the special. Out of our party of 9 no one had any complains about the meal. We were celebrating my son's 44th birthday and the waiter sang Happy Birthday in Italian to my son.
The chef also made us a special dessert sample that was very good!
One of the main things I appreciated about the restaurant was that I was able to make a reservation for a part y of 10 through Opentable within 5 days of my dining during Fathers Day weekend!!
Celebrated our wedding anniversary. The menu was limited. We had the crab dip, She-crab soup, spinach salad, French chicken and Delmonico rib-eye. The She-crab soup was salty. Our server offered another soup but we just cancelled it. The crab dip was good. My husband and I wanted to share our entrees so they split our orders to two plates. Our server gave us complimentary chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling wine. The receptionist also greeted us. They really took note of my Open Table note. Great and freindly service.
Nice setting, good food
Went here for my parents' anniversary. My dad is a well-done-steak kinda guy (yeah, I know) and he's a picky eater so he's a little difficult, but he's 80 so he can be like that! We ordered him the small filet, well done, and asked if they could butterfly it. They did an excellent job and it came out exactly as we asked. I had a bite and remarkably it was delicious with great flavor. The other 3 of us had the buffet and, although it was good, I prefer to order from the menu. I didn't "need" the dessert that was included with the buffet. The service was very good, attentive.
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service since this is located in a hotel. The filet mignon was very tender, cooked to perfection, and the special sauce was outstanding -- we soaked the baked potato and green beans in it as well. We tried the La Joya Carmenere wine and throroughly enjoyed it. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing as the other diners were spread out and we were able to converse.
The food on this trip was very disappointing.
Very disappointing visit. This was the Valentines dinner and the food had been prepared in advance and was wilted, dry, and not very good. This is not typically of RRG. One other thing that was very annoying is that we ordered based on the sides offered with the entree. The kitchen substituted and the pairings were not as interesting and the published. The service was very good which was offset by the food.
Dinner at Rocky River Grille
The food was good but nothing special. I had petite filet and it was very petite - and the same price as the regular menu. We made reservations and had to take 6:30. There were ample seats available the entire time we were there. Service was slow and not that great. Arrived a little early and ordered glass of wine while waiting on the rest of our group. Never greceived our wine and ultimately ordered a bottle when our group arrived. Took forever for each course and our wine to be delivered.
It was not a horrible experience, but we won't return - especially for Queen's Feast. Too many great restaurants participating to go here.
Upscale food with a lousy location
I visited for the first time during Charlotte Restaurant week ("CRW"). Arguably, this isn't the best time to visit restaurants as there are probably lots more people eating and working there than usual. That being said, I started with reserving a table for 10pm on Open Table. When I got to the restaurant on-time, they were saying that no more people were being sat in the dining room, and that I was free to order from the bar. I politely explained to them I had opentable reservations for 10, and they were like 'Oh!' and then they went and got a manager and sat me at a table. There were maybe 3 other tables with patrons when I arrived. Many of the staff looked as if they were at the end of their shifts and were ready to go home. Since my guest and I were there for the CRW special, we already knew ahead of time what we wanted. But still, I wanted to see a menu and possibly add on additional items as we've never been there before. Much to my surprise (and disappointment) anything that required special cooking was "conveniently out". No creme brulee, no special appetizers that didnt require a microwave or drop in a deep fryer for a few minutes were available. Part of the problem of having everyone order the same foods during CRW, is that you run the risk of getting cold/old stuff. That being said, I was super excited to try the bacon-wrapped jalapenos. Unfortunately, they were cold and hard and the pork was bland behind the fiery heat provided by the peppers. The chicken and corn wontons were fabolous though. I had the Horseradish-Encrusted Salmon, which unfortunately came off as a crusty, strong flavored fishy tasting fish patty. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were cooked well though. The Braised French Chicken was delightful, and pleasantly seasoned. The chocolate cake and Tiramisu were good, however, I wish I could have tried the brulee. This restaurant really needs to work on making the dining experience more intimate. It's too noisy and open.
