I ordered the five course plus wine tasting from the menu, and the pairings were terrific. The sommelier spent quality time with us and the service was great. The only downside I found was that two of the five courses tasted very salty. Otherwise the food and wine were wonderful.

The Wait Staff is superb. Unfortunately, the cuisine was not. Pitiful portions. The, "Crispy Flounder", was not crispy and perhaps, not flounder. It was more likely, a Mrs Paul's fish filet, but not as tasty, or large, as Mrs. Paul's. Note to John. Price does not a delicacy make. Neither does a sauteed onion, or a hint of garlic, at the bottom of a bowl. The pumpkin seed soup was too salty but if not, it would have been tasteless. The, Cold Cereal Dessert, would have been a treat. While imaginative, there wasn't enough provided to garner a significant tasting . I had to eat a sandwich when I arrived home just to feel empty. I guess those chandeliers, continually mentioned in the ads, cost more than their worth, to keep lit. Haute Cuisine", my eye ! It is neither fashionable, or elegant to offer such dishes, under it's guise. Boo, John Besh. You should be ashamed.

One of the finest dining experiences I have had. We had the fried oyster appetizer, and then entrees of the triple tail and the speckled trout. The wine service was very helpful, with tastes prior to decision-making.

This restaurant has lovely and friendly service in a very elegant setting. The food was outstanding and the staff were very tolerant of our desire to split our meals as we find restaurant servings generally too large. We would highly recommend for a great New Orleans experience.

The food was outstanding. We had the oysters and the gnocchi to start, and then the trout and snapper. Unbelievable. The service was kind and attentive, especially considering that it was a very special night for us. They went over and above to make it special. Oh, the lime tart and dirt pie desserts are amazing.

Eating here is always a celebration. Every time I bring friends or suggest August to someone, the feedback is always THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Everyone is so grateful that I introduced them to August. Amazing food. Unbelievably great service. A beautiful room. Can't ask for more.

I love this restaurant . The food was very good other than the flounder that was bland. The waiter was below par for this level of culinary expertise. I may be a little harsh as I live in NYC so my expectations for service are high. The server told us about the menu twice as if he forgot he already talked to us. Then when he asked how everything was after we got our meal, we told him about the flounder being bland, he repeated the word bland twice walked away and never said any other word. In addition we order a bottle of champagne and it took over 20 minutes to get it.

Absolutely Brilliant evening ! We celebrated our 15th anniversary ...and Nick ( head waiter ) started us off with a surprise ....a celebratory glass of bubbly ... Thank you to Erin , her choices in wine pairings were spot on PERFECT ! Her knowledge of wine and the stories behind the wine was simply astonishing ! Nick , our head waiter , was perfectly attentive, and we thoroughly enjoyed that he shared his passion for the food he was serving us . Chris , the assistant waiter was hardly a junior ...with his knowledge and love of the food and beverage he served . We had the tasting menu with the wine pairings ...The entire evening was a 11 out of 10 ! Thank you !!!

This was a bucket list restaurant for us and it did not disappoint. The food was top notch, my favorite being the gnocchi with crab and truffle appetizer. Yes, worth the hype. Order it. Could not of been more pleased with the friendly staff, the ambience, and food.

Pretentious, but worth it. Thanks to a map app snafu, we arrived late, but they held our table. Everything we ordered turned out worthy of the reputation. Many of our choices had combinations of flavors that defied logic, but held up well on execution. Be sure you take up your waitperson on his/her offer to explain the menu; many dishes have added flavors/ingredients not listed on the printed menu.
The ambience is over-the-top affected, but that proved to be entertaining rather than off-putting. Overall pricey, but the creativity makes it rewarding.

Went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Everything was wonderful. The service was excellent.....Mark was our waiter. The deconstructed shrimp etouffee was absolutely delicious as was the Brussels Sprout salad. We will be back.

Service stood out as being exemplary. We were treated like royalty. Do not ask for recommendations because you will be told everything is amazing and from what we tasted they are right. The gnocchi hits taste buds I didn't know existed. Not usually fish people but the stuffed flounder was more decadent and flavorful than our most favorite dish at other restaurants. We had been to John Besh "Luke" in San Antonio and were extremely Disappointed so we were apprehensive coming here but after the amuse bouche we knew we were in for a special meal.

We did the tasting menu with the wine pairings and it was absolutely divine! The pairings brought out more flavors in the dish and were a perfect match, plus they have a unique story behind each one. Highly recommend for foodies, special occasion and date night in NOLA.

Robert was our captain, and he was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and professional. He recommended several dishes that we would not have thought to order, and all of them were extraordinarily delicious! Robert also suggested wines that were perfect for our meal. He was very attentive without being overbearing. My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, and we could not have had a better dining experience. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable!

Outstanding! One of the best restaurants in New Orleans. This one is NOT to be missed. Highly recommended. Everything we ordered from the lamb to the duck was cooked to perfection. Excellent customer service and loved the ambience. When I return to New Orleans, this will be high on my list to visit again.

This was the nicest dining experience I have ever had. The service was attentive but not annoying. The special touches of the amuse bouche and the little treats at the end were fantastic and made the experience more special.

We were left unattended after we arrived for 15 minutes-not even water. The meat was not hot. We talked to the manager about the entire experience and he comped our meal. It was the right thing to do. Even with that, the experience was so poor, if is doubtful we could ever go back to that restaurant.
The restaurant itself was beautiful and the manger was very apologetic.

Everyone in my group thought that August was fantastic. The service was exemplary, the decor was beautiful, and the food incredible. I have never tasted fried oysters that good, the coating fully cooked but the oyster barely warmed through, which was utterly magical. It was a special event dinner, my 60th birthday, and the manager was happy to take a picture of our whole group. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience.

Pretentious. Average Food (seriously, after all the hype, it was average at best). Over-priced. Below average service. Booked the #1 and the #4 restaurant on trip advisor for a weekend in New Orleans, and was really excited for both. The #1 was 10x's better, less expensive, better food, better service, and a better atmosphere. My wife and I could not wait to get out of August. We are from Chicago and we are used to all types of places, from dives known for some special cuisine to high end places. I'm not writing this as an angry customer he felt like they were wronged, and this is my revenge. It honestly was just a poor meal and experience overall. Was it a horrible meal? No. Was it worth it or would I ever consider going there again? No and No.
