About Restaurant August
Opened in October 2001 with native John Besh at the helm, Restaurant August is the only restaurant to be awarded a perfect "5 Bean" score from The Times-Picayune in the past two years. Food & Wine bestowed Besh with the honor of "Best New Chef" in 1998. Gourmet magazine's Guide to America's Best Restaurants listed August in its top five picks in New Orleans.

Lunch: Friday Only, 11:00am - 2:00pm. Dinner: Monday - Sunday, 5:00pm - 10:00pm.

At Restaurant August, our Upstairs Private Dining Room can seat 100 or 120 for a reception style event. The Chef's Tasting Room can seat 12 and features a customized Chef's Tasting Menu. Wines can be paired by our sommelier for a more unique experience. Buyouts are also available for up to 300.

Restaurant August did not disappoint. Of course, it is a John Besh Restaurant so I would expect no less. The Tasting Menus offered were extremely tempting. Instead we chose the gnocchi, fried oysters, appetizer shrimp etoufee and the breaded flounder. Finished off the evening with the key lime soufflé and the dark chocolate ganache. The wine selections were extensive. Service was fantastic. The food was sublime. We will definitely add this to our regular rotation when visiting home.

With the reputation they have, they must have had an off night. Service was decent, but not impressive. Appetizers were excellent, but waited too long for entrees. Once they showed they were cold. Steak was ordered medium rare, but showed up mid well for sure. Again, I'm sure they had an off night, but probably won't go back to see them at their best.

I have been to this restaurant several times and never been disappointed before this time. The soup that was a part of the vegetarian selection would have been memorable except that it was too salty as was the fish entrée that I ordered. I could've forgiven a slip up in the kitchen but I found our server to be pompous. One of the best qualities of this restaurant is the extraordinary service from the hostess to the waitstaff and management. It has always been my favorite restaurant when I am in town but not this time.

We used to love this place and are fans of Besh. It is clear that the team at August is "phoning it in". Our fish was over cooked - my wife had the vegetarian dish - it was partially cold - they did not heat the plate or let it stand too long. overall, they should be way better than they were.

We went to this restaurant because my wife is a huge fan of John Besh so I wanted to take her here for our anniversary. Personally the restaurant is a little too fancy for what I'm used too, but that's ok I wasn't treated any different. Some of the dishes were beyond what I can comprehend, but hey I'm a meat and potatoes kind of guy. I gave everything a chance that we ordered even if it was something I never heard of. Let me tell you, everything was amazing. I was completely blown away. Not only was every thing I ate the most amazing, the service was outstanding. Every person who came to our table explained everything in great detail and answered all our questions.
The food though was so good. The best steak I ever had was at Bern's Steakhouse in Tampa, but that was until I went to Restaurant August and had their Louisiana Wagyu Beef. It was the best thing I have ever eaten in my life. The price was what you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber and it was worth EVERY penny. Please go here even if it's for a special occasion. I guarantee you will not regret your decision.

We arrived in New Orleans post cruise and had reservations for Friday lunch. We selected their tasting menu and added some additional appetizer's. Both the food and service were outstanding with some excellent wine pairing suggestions. As would be expected they were very busy and the noise level is on the high side, but the overall quality of the experience more than made up for any noise issues. Reservations are a must - so glad we planned ahead.

We were early for our reservation so we sat in the bar for a drink and foie gras...and ended up enjoying our entire dinner sitting at the bar. The service was outstanding from the bartendresses, the food servers and the backwaiters. Food was fabulous. We have enjoyed August the times we have been there and are thrilled to learn that we don't necessarily have to wait forever for a reservation - the food and service at the bar are as superb as the dining room.

August is always our last dinner when we visit New Orleans. It is always the perfect way to cap off a vacation. Wonderful ambience and flat out amazing food. We have never had less than an A+ meal here. Service is excellent. We have traveled the world and eaten at many fine restaurants, including Chef Paul Bocuse's flagship restaurant in France &, honestly, this is our favorite place anywhere. If in town, this is a must and, if not in town, get there & get a meal at August!

August is among the top 3 restaurants in the country. Innovative food, local ingredients, outstanding service and an ambiance that is the essence of the deep south. I highly recommend this restaurant anytime you're anywhere near New Orleans.
