Went here with friends. When we came in there was live music that was so loud we almost had to scream at each other but he stopped after about 20 minutes and then it was ok. The drinks were amazing. Loved them!! The apps were good. Had duck taquitos, Ahi poke, and seared albacore. All were yummy. Dinner was good but I wouldn’t say it was amazing. Had the carnitas and my husband had scallops. Had a great time with our friends and the service was fast and friendly. I would go back! Get the pineapple drink!
Aisa was our waitress and she was absolutely outstanding. We were celebrating a very special occasion, and she made it even better. We’ll absolutely be back!
Amazing experience again! Great service, and the food... from the chips to the guacamole to the spare rib enchiladas! Wow! A top in OC
Really slow and unattentive service. The server picked up full plates. Looked at them oddly and never asked if we enjoyed the meals or if there was an issue. Heavily overdressed salads made them inedible. Very slow and random service. It was if we watched a random packman just doing stuff. At one point we think a glass of wine was poured from our bottle at another table.
It was an odd experience and not likely to go back, ever. I would say over rated and over hyped, yet they got our money, and our salads.
Very good menu choices & great service. Thanks
I've been here 5 times over the last few years and this was the worst experience I've had. Dried food on the table and several menu's. Bartender shortcuts were taken with the cocktails, waitstaff was both inexperienced and unfamiliar with the menu. Overcooked meats.
Great Carnitas, drinks, and high quality fresh flavors. You can tell they make their own salsa and tortillas.
We had a reservation and were seated immediately. the night was busy, but our waitress came by quickly to greet us and start us off with one of their yummy margaritas. Our food was well presented and tasty as always. The only criticism is that the table we were given was very tiny and by a pillar which did not allow for much space both for us to sit and to have space for all the food plates and glassware. I realize that there were many big parties at the restaurant, but we did have a reservation that was made well in advance and my advice is to make sure that you ask for a decent sized table. Ours would have been fine for two but we are not big people and the four of us were quite cramped. We are not complainers and still had a wonderful night there. There is always some musical entertainment which sets the mood as well. We do love coming here.
Always great with great service!
Excellent Restaurant, great food, great ambiance!
This was my second experience at Red O. The last time I was there I ordered steak and lobster for two, it was absolutely insanely good !This time I had no one to share that entree with In my food was not that good. I know what I need to order next time because that entrée is over the top.
All around a very pleasurable Friday evening dinner w/friends
I always describe this great Mexican restaurant with a Moroccan decor as a trip to a
delightful resort without leaving the country. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting.
The staff gracious and attentive. The food has taken "traditional Mexican" dishes and
turned them into works of colorful art. One of my favorites is the tomato based tortilla
soup. A MUST ORDER, just to observe the beautiful presentation of this unique soup.
I eat here often and try a variety of dishes on the menu and have never been disappointed.
The lamb with mole served at dinner is another wonderful dining experience.
Their birthday dessert is a standout. I won't spoil the surprise that is in store for you.
Server was excellent. Food presentation was amazing. Cocktails were beautifully presented. Everything tasted fantastic.
The man that brought out the food was very nice and funny and seemed very proud to be serving the dishes.
Prices were higher for Mexican food, but you pay for the quality. Still decently priced though. We had 3 appetizers, 4 cocktails, an entree, a kids meal, and a soup for $150.
Great food, fantastic service but a bit pricey! Worth going for special occasion
We were dining with and had requested a patio table and we were pleased that our request was honored. However, they placed us right at the entry onto the patio and were therefore right in the middle of traffic. The food was great (chicken suitcase & short ribs enchiladas) and the guacamole was ferric as well as the goat cheese tamales. Our reservation was honored right on time.
Back again for another lovely experience. One of my favorite Mexican restaurants, and one of my favorite high-end places.
We had a great meal on Sunday evening - our server was lovely - fun, friendly and helpful. There was a singer/guitar player and he was fantastic - not too loud but lively enough to add to the atmosphere. Great fresh food and drinks. Will go again and certainly recommend!
Great but pricey brunch place unless you’re having cocktails, then it’s a bargain! Love the pay and extra $20 unlimited mimosas, delicious margaritas, tequila sunrise deal with brunch at $50 a person. If you’re having cocktails it ends up being a bargain! A delicious incredible brunch with a great atmosphere on the patio especially! Goat cheese tamales, tacos, fresh oysters, Spanish dish with lobster, muscles, and shrimp. Hand cut steak. Beautiful desserts!
We went to Red-O for the Easter brunch, the food was fantastic and they kept their usual high quality while service a buffet style brunch. This was my fifth visit their and the food and service are always outstanding
Fantastic Easter brunch
This was our first time at Red O and we loved it! Mexican food is our favorite! We decided to tey a little of several things...Organic Skinny Margarita was great! LOVED the tortilla soup, and both the caesar salad and kale salads. We shared a plate with tacos, short rib enchilada, black beans and red rice...all were great! Service was attentive and ambiance was lovely!
Great dinner but we requested to be seated outside and even then the noise level made it
difficult to have conversations..
So we celebrated the birthday of one of my coworkers and we had a reservation to OpenTable we were seated immediately and the servers were attentive to our needs the food came out great and I even had a cake from an outside bakery and they managed to cut the slices for me that is great service
The only thing I would suggest is the portions are a bit small for a dinner service and the prices are a bit on the high-end but overall I enjoyed coming there
Wonderful restaurant! Always great! Super staff!!
My only issue was setting up the cc authorization for my large party prior to arriving. I had to email TJ 3 times just to obtain the form, then an additional 2 times to get him to confirm the authorization went through... which he never did. When I arrived a asked if it had and they still weren't sure. I believe whatever manager was there was able to push it through. This was a frustrating process.
The food seems to have declined over time. Menu has changed slightly. Short rib enchiladas weren’t as good and tortilla soup was terrible. 2 pieces of avocado and greasy broth. Very noisy st evening time.
The brunch experience had become a 3 at best...today the Red O we enjoyed is back with great food, service and ambiance.
We had a reservation and were still kept waiting for quite a while before being seated. We were offered to sit in the bar for appetizers but it was so crowded there wasn’t even room to stand. The noise level was loud enough that we could hardly talk to each other or the server. We enjoyed the food enough that I would most definitely go back, just not at prime hour on a weekend. We had noted on our opentable reservation we were there for a birthday, and they very kindly brought complimentary churros with a birthday message and candle. The ceviche and mole were particularly notable but all of the food our party ordered was lovely. For dessert, the passion fruit cake was outstanding. Would love to try the food again in a less hectic environment.
Extremely loud. Needs noise deadening panels. We had difficulty holding a conversation. Best part was our super nice server. Tables for two put the other person in a different area code they are so far from you. Food was okay but way overpriced. Did I say it was extremely loud. We won’t be coming back.
Excellent birthday meal for our daughter. The birthday churros were to die for!! The Mole steak was a favorite . The meal for two was fabulous !! Our servers were very personal and friendly.
Carnitas empanadas and shrimp cevice to die for. Mix and match option lets you try different entrees all delish, wine and tequila list amazing!
It was a very nice birthday dinner for our friend. And also getting together with other friends visiting from out of the country.
The food was delicious, the service was very good. Overall we all enjoy everything and we will comeback soon.
Love our experience! The only part I was sad about was that I left a preference message on OpenTable that the occasion was for my husbands 50th birthday. I assumed the restaurant would get it but they didn’t so they didn’t celebrate it ☹️
Beautiful place great food! The fish is great and all the tacos are delicious! Happy hour is fun there and the happy hour food is really tasty!
The food and service was great. Was highly recommended by a friend and she wasn't wrong about anything. Definitely looking forward to going back soon!
Came here with our adult kids for mom's birthday. Everything was wonderful. Reasonably priced dinner's, especially for Newport Beach.
