Villa Ravenna Fine Dining Ratings and Reviews
buried back in a small shopping center off 51st. a little hard to find for the first time (in a rain storm). northern italian. superb. wife lived in italy for a decade. rated the food same as i did. superb. for a quality/taste comparison we also highly rate stonehorse for dinner and wild fork for breakfast. if you enjoy the quality of food at those restaurants and enjoy italian food, you will enjoy and then rave about villa ravenna like i am. have enjoyed italian food in manhattan (such as da umberto when it first opened in the early 90's) and las vegas (such as battista's hole in the wall). this made my top 5. grilled pear gorgonzola for app, shrimp scampi for her
(came with 2 kinds of pasta/sauces) and alfredo for me. extensive wine list by glass.
We went to Villa Ravenna on Mother's Day. There was a special menu for that day. The food was very good. But none of the dishes could be called "light." There was not one thing on the special menu that had traditional red sauce. All the pasta dishes were in some sort of cream sauce, and very rich. I ordered pasta with scampi sauce, shrimp and vegetables. It was delicious but I couldn't eat too much of it. Of course, there were non-pasta entrees of meat and fish. The next time I'll try one of those.
The restaurant has a lovely ambiance. It's traditional and cozy. And quiet, for a change! The service was superb.
It's one of the most expensive restaurants in town. The wine list is very impressive and extensive. It's also expensive.
I will go there again, for special occasions, but it's out of my price range for just a dinner out.
Food was excellent as usual but on this occasion the entrees took an inordinate amount of time to come out after the salads were cleared. We've not had that issue before here but it was 15-20 minutes between finishing our salads and getting our entrees. No reason given.
We came here for my wife's college graduation dinner and they did not disappoint. The food and service was excellent. I made a request for them to bring my wife tiramisu with "Class of 2017" written in chocolate. Not only did they fulfill that request they also got her a card and had the whole staff sign it. Definitely recommend for an excellent and authentic Italian dining experience.
We picked a bad day to visit. The restaurant was hosting a wedding party and it appeared to be too much for the staff. We barely saw our waiter even though it took over 2 hours to complete our meal. We like the restaurant but it was embarrassing since we were entertaining a visitor from Canada. They should not have accepted additional reservations.
Back in September we were looking for a good Italian restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. I asked Facebook freinds for recommendations and this and one other popular restaurant got top votes. We opted for the "other" restaurant for our anniversary dinner, but realized soon after arriving that it was not the mood we were looking for. So, we had dinner at the "other" restaurant, then went to Villa Ravenna for dessert which was fabulous. The ambience was exactly what we wanted in the first place! We were excited to celebrate a birthday at Villa Ravenna this past weekend for a memorable experience. The food was superb, the atmosphere divine, and the service impeccable. We won't be waiting for another "special occassion" before going back!
This is the fourth time were have dined. We are from out of town, and have made it a point to dine here. We have not had even a mediocre experience, it has been outstanding every time. The food was great, the mixed drinks were creative, and the wine selection was great. Our service was just right and flowed well with the meal.
We've been to Villa Ravenna numerous times and have always enjoyed the excellent food and service. Unfortunately, both were slightly lacking in quality during our last visit. The wait staff seemed to be stretched a bit thin. My husband ordered the sea bass, which is certainly not one of the cheaper items on the menu. His side dish came out warm but the fish was not warm at all. He did not wish to wait for new food so opted not to send it back. We certainly do not mind paying a substantial price for good quality food, but this experience was disappointing.
My husband and I just wanted a night out without the kiddos; it was perfect! Romantic, quiet, and absolutely wonderful food! We shared a bottle of wine and escargot. The entrees were delicious! The owner came to our table to comment on the bottle of wine we chose. We will be back!
We have eaten before and returned to enjoy the food again. It may have been an off night for the kitchen. Neither my dinner nor my wife's dinner was as good as we had had at this restaurant before. My fish was not cooked well and her dinner was very bland. It will be awhile before we return.
