First time dining here and had an absolute fabulous time. My husband and I had friends in town and wanted to show them a good time. The service throughout the dinner was impeccable. Our server Chris was crazy knowledgeable and made excellent food recommendations. The manager came over and she made great wine pairing recommendations. We will be back!

Third time dining here and it never disappoints. Food is delicious - lots of local ingredients. The fish dishes are amazing. Service is attentive and professional with a good knowledge of the menu. Views cannot be beat, especially the tables for two along the railing. Don't miss it!

Another great meal in maui. The view of the sunset and sounds of the waterfall were incredible. The chef is so talented, the flavor combinations are actual art. So unique and soooo good ! Tomato and burrata like I've never had. And the best lamb I've ever tasted .

Went to the old capishe a few nights ago for some appetizers and to see what was different. The name change is terrible, but the menus still say capische, so that is not a great way to communicate a change.
We had three different starters, the kale caesar was nice, the caprise salad was fantastic, though a bit less olive oil and two pieces of bread would be nice, but the one dish I was looking forward to was not good.
The mushroom risotto was comparable to a thick muschroom gravy. Way too rich, not enough mushrooms, and just not what I was expecting. I've had the risotto years ago and remember it being so much better, but maybe age is effecting my taste.
No use complaining about being overpriced because the restaurant is in Wailea, so it is mandatory to be overpriced.
I'll try them again when they change names again.

The Restaurant (fka Capische) is no Capische - and that is A-OK. We loved the former and now love the New! The location is and has always been just breathtaking with the panoramic views across Wailea and out to the Pacific and the surrounding islands. The new chef, concept & menu - all fabulous.

We have visited Capische on every trip to Maui over the past decade and always enjoyed all aspects. We heard about the ownership and name change a few days before our reservation and we're a bit concerned after reading the recent reviews that mentioned the insect issues.
The food has changed a little but it was mostly great. The gnocchi appetizer was a bit underwhelming both in size and complexity, but the tomato appetizer was juicy and fresh and accompanied well with the black garlic crostini.
The drinks were spot on.
The bolognese was well portioned and very flavorful. The ahi main was fresh and well seasoned.
We had the Hawaiian salted caramel lava cake with marshmallows and banana ice cream, very delicious but sized for two as it was very rich.
There was no hint of the insect issues that we had heard about, and the service was excellent.
Overall it was a positive experience with the only caveat being the increased prices and smaller portions (apps:$16+, entrees: $36-60). $220 dinner for two with no wine leaves a bit to be expected...

Extremely satisfied. The food was amazingly fresh and perfectly presented. Everything we had was outstanding. Oysters on half shells, yum. Foie gras terrine, smooth as butter. Risotto, almost perfect, I loved it but being accustomed to bacon or prosciutto in it, I felt it should have been added. Lamp chops were perfectly cooked and delicious. Lava cake, just over the top. The only thing we didn't care for was the cappuccino. It was lukewarm and watery. Let me tell you, the service was friendly and attentive. We liked everyone we had contact with, the hostess polite and engaging. The bus boy, always there with the water and clearing the table. The waiter was knowledgeable about the dishes, offered suggestions, checked back frequently and was not intrusive.
The décor and view outside was lovely. Piano player nice volume.
Expensive, about $200 for both of us including glasses of wine. Worth it, you bet.

The only difference as my wife and I went through the questions had to do with the food. I would have given it five stars but she felt the dessert was over much. We had the Maui dessert sampler and I thought it was terrific -- a great assortment of flavors and textures. We were celebrating our anniversary by the way. Lovely views and very attentive service

We would highly recommend this restaurant in every category!
We are excited to see what the upcoming changes hold! There is only one suggestion....the dining chairs are a very hard wooden chair, no cushion all! We hope this changes to a much more comfortable chair!!! Thank You!!!

A hidden gem for sure! The view from the lanai was breath taking and worth it all! So romantic and on the quiet side. We actually cancelled reservations at another place to come back and dine here again while on vacation. The food was delicious and filled with such flavors from locally grown areas in Maui. One of the best Mai Tai's I had on the island too!
My only draw back was I was not impressed with the dessert menu and passed it up both times.
We will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed our dinner at the Restaurant at Hotel Wailea. We were told multiple times by staff at the Four Seasons that the restaurant was no longer Capische and that the food was pacific rim. We were questioning our decision to have dinner there. We went anyway and it was excellent! It is still mainly Italian. The service was excellent. The server explained the dishes well and we were able to do substitutions if we wished. We had been there a year ago and they remembered that we were vegetarians.
They have an exceptional bar. We ordered Negroni's and they were the best Negroni's we had during our vacation. Everything from the bread to our dessert was delicious!
The view is incredible. You really don't want to rush eating at the Restaurant at Wailea. Be prepared to sit back, relax, take in the view and enjoy the service and food.

This was our second time eating at The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea/Capische, and once again the entire experience was outstanding – excellent food, creative and interesting blend of flavors, gorgeous presentation, perfect view, excellent service.

Food is not as good as when it was run as Capische? With the garden seating closed, patrons are crowded together with little separation. Our table for 2 was adjacent to a large table with room for 10, which unfortunately was occupied by two families with unruly and loud teenagers and kids that intruded on our space and ruined the meal.

So...just so everyone is aware, this restaurant changed owners and names...it is now called The Restaurant and it was formerly Capische. It's kinda like who's on first but for food. The restaurant itself is beautiful and my husband and I have eaten here previously many times and been very pleased but now it's a bit different. I have to admit that I was kinda disgruntled when I found out that Capische changed over to The Restaurant and they didn't notify me despite me having made a reservation well in advance. I felt going into the evening that it was a bit of a bait and switch and I had found out about the change from our hotel. As usual, the frogs were croaking and the restaurant looked the same except this time there were a lot and I mean a lot of bugs everywhere. So much so that we had a hard time enjoying ourselves. They moved the oil lamps off of our table which actually did help but it was still way too buggy for me. The new menu is a bit all over the board. If I didn't know that the restaurant is supposed to have an Italian influence I would think it's more of a global cuisine. The food itself was fine. It wasn't as good as I remember it to be, it wasn't bad by any stretch but it wasn't amazing. Here's the thing, I say it all of the time...I have absolutely no issues paying for quality. I'm fine with it. However, paying almost $50 per entree for food that was fine but not mind blowing was a little annoying. We brought my parents on this trip and we all agreed that this was our least favorite meal, so there's that. I'm sincerely hoping that they figure out where they want to take the menu and get the bugs under control and revive this former gem of a restaurant. I know that the concierge at the Four Seasons has stopped recommending it to their guests and I completely understand why. Check back to see if further changes have been made before you head back or you might be disappointed as we were.

First dinner in 3 yrs. used to be a favorite place on vacation. Been many times. Marked decline in food since last visit. We were 10 min early and the restaurant wasn't full yet they made us wait at a stand up bar for 11 min before seated. I won't go back

Amazing, a must visit, superb service, food and location. Great place for date night, at sunset or later in evening, getting treated like royalty, then spoilt with phenomenal feest, a fine dining experience..we'll be back.

My family and I had an 8 pm a appointment @ Capische @ Hotel Wailea.Seating is on a 2nd floor, open air balcony. When we were seated the first thing we all noticed were numerous small hard shelled flying bugs on the table. This problem progressively worsened through the beginning of our table service. At that point I asked our server what the issue was with the bugs. He replied that they've always had this issue, in fact he stated "that it was so bad they had to close the bottom floor patio service". He then offered us bug spray. I thought bug spray, are you kidding me?? These bugs were in our water glasses on our silverware. At that point we should have walked out but it was so late that we would have had an issue finding a place for 5 people.
The food was good. With the Kobe Short Ribs and the Shrimp Carbonara being the stand outs. The bug issue overshadowed the whole evening. It is beyond me why they haven't screened in the area. This was not an inexpensive meal and it was completely ruined by their bug issue. How nobody has point this out on Yelp is beyond me. Based on the comments by the server it is an on going problem.

I have heard nothing but wonderful things about this restaurant and have looked forward to having a wonderful birthday dinner at the restaurant. With that said, the restaurant is NOT busy at all. The view is great, but HOT while waiting for sunset. Nothing to protect you from sun, so be prepared with hats and sunglasses during dinner!! We had said in reservation that this was a special night thinking they would sit us in the garden, but we were wrong. It looked like the garden is closed--but very nice and shady. The waitstaff was great--thank you Chris! The caprese salad was great!! My snapper was ok. Had too many flavors in it. My husband had the Ahi and it had something spicy to it. The best part of dinner was the soufflé. Was very nice mind you, but not the hype that I had previously heard about. Probably will not return for the money spent.

Went for our anniversary dinner, sat outside on the lanai and watched the sunset, with a wonderful glass of champagne before ordering appetizers. Beautiful views. Our waiter (Chris) was absolutely one of the best waiters we've ever come across. He explained the dishes to us in detail, local farm to table, answered our questions and his recommendations were spot on to our palates, gave us our space, yet very attentive. The staff was wonderful as well, we didn't feel rushed at all.
Yes it is a bit pricey, but the food, ambiance, service, reflects the price in my opinion.

Both my husband and I were disappointed (first time ever) in the quality of the food. The risotto was too al-dente, the duck was overcooked. My snapper was good and the souffle was fabulous. Capische? has been our go to place for years for special occasions, but I think we'll be trying some others now.

This was our fourth visit. We asked if we could have an entree order at half price and order a full entree as well. (Done previous times ) The waiter said it was a new Chef and the no longer could do that. I asked the waiter for the explanation on two entrees. He read directly off the menu and did not understand English. My wife had the worst Short-ribs of her life. This used to be a go too for a nice meal. Most likely will never return..
After hearing amazing reviews about Capi ...
After hearing amazing reviews about Capiache, we knew we had to make a reservation for our final dinner on our vacation. Sadly, our expectations were not met. Side note, the food was exquisite! Everything about the food was amazing.... But the service was appalling. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left, we were disappointed. We were sat at a table that was pushed up against the bar. When we asked to be moved to another table, the hostess told us it would be very difficult for us to move, as all of the other tables had been requested for the evening. We asked again and were moved to a table in the back of the restaurant; not favourable, but better than the "under the bar" table.
After ordering our cocktails at our new table, we waited about 10 minutes before our server let us know that they were out of the one ingredient needed to complete my cocktail. I then ordered my replacement cocktail and waited while my other guests enjoyed their first sips. We then ordered our first course. The Fois Gras, Ahi Tuna and the Caramelized Ceasar, which were all mouth watering. And then ordered our mains and sides. After our first course, we were poured our wine and the promptly served our mains, but the sides were missing... We asked our server and she said she would go and check. After finishing our mains, 10 mins later she admitted that they had forgotten our sides and asked if we had still wanted them. We told her to send one of them and the Brussels came out quickly, but very charred.
We would have left without complaining, but from being a manager in a five-star restaurant myself, I couldn't sleep well knowing that this type of service was happening in a fine dining establishment with a Relais & Châteaux standard. When we brought up our negative experience to the manager, she was unaware of the problems. Overall, I expected more.. We are on Maui twice a year and are looking for more spots to recommend to our guests, but, Capische did not make the cut.

We have been to this restaurant every time we are in Wailea, Maui - which is quite often. Their Cippino is fantastic. New chef is outstanding. The waiters were very attentive and classy. Hint: Be careful not to sit on the main level during sunset unless you want the burning sun in your eyes. We had to move downstairs to the very pretty outside dining area. We missed seeing the sunset but it was just too hot. There is a lovely bar area with an excellent pianist - so rare these days in fine restaurants. Also - the Hotel Wailea has one of the most beautiful lobby areas ever - and the restaurant is right off the lobby.
