The Majestic is our go-to restaurant for pre-Orpheum date nights. On this particular night, I was with two girlfriends, and we were celebrating one of their birthdays. The food was fine, the service was fine. I think what I miss here is intimacy. The place is so big, it feels like a factory, and we never get to know our server or feel valued. My friend had a burger, another friend had a flatbread, I had a veggie plate (which was very good).
We arrived early to be sure we would make our reservation at 4:00 and thought we would have a drink at the bar. We were disappointed to find it was closed until 4:00 and would have to come back. It was a rainy day and we had to walk to several places before finding a place to wait. We arrived back at 4:00 to a mob in the front entrance area. It took some time to figure out the organization and how to get to the front to tell them we had a reservation. Once we were seated, we waited a bit before meeting out server. We ordered and it seemed our waiter was focused on something other than us. We did get our food and it was delicious. We paid and left as we were going to a show after dinner. I will try again and hope for better service because the food was awesome.
The food was amazing! We made a reservation walked in seated immediately, hostess was super friendly! However our server was awful!!! Had to ask multiple times for things, such as refills, bread. We waited over an hour for our food. The people around is with different servers changed twice before we got our food!
This restaurant never disappoints. I am a creature of habit, when it comes to The Majestic Grille, and always have to get the pork tenderloin, because it is always amazing. My boyfriend got the 8 oz. filet mignon with sauteed shrimp and scallops, and it was amazing. I love coming here for any occasion, but my favorite is to come here before a Broadway play. Definitely recommend.
Had the salad, steak and dessert from the pre-theatre menu. Additionally shared the crab cakes appetizer with others in my party. All was really good- except the steak. It was average...lacked flavor and tenderness. The service however was over the top. Very very attentive multiple servers made for a pleasant meal. I'd definitely go again.
Majestic grille was a good choice for our (four people) Sunday morning brunch outing. The food was what we expected - chef driven with a very decent price tag. However, the service at the host stand was unwelcoming and confused. They hardly acknowledged us, and took at least ten minutes to walk us the twelve feet to our reserved table. We also witnessed the hosts asking an older lady to leave her table! It was clearly a reservation blooper but, still completely uncalled for. On the other hand, our waitress wasn't bad. She was as efficient as possible on a busy brunch shift, and kept the experience from turning south. As a member of the service industry I can fully understand the severity of some of the things we witnessed. However, I will still recommend this establishment to others looking for a nice downtown experience - as the atmosphere and food are both excellent.
I went here for brunch the day after Valentines Day and it was packed. I had a reservation so I was able to be seated immediately. My server and service was good. My meal was also really good. I would recommend trying their omelette. I will definitely return.
My boyfriend and I came for brunch. We had a reservation and as soon as we walked in, we were seated. The service and food were excellent and the menu items are a decent price. We both had the steak with eggs, breakfast potatoes, and a side of grits. We also had the majestic mimosa. This was my 2nd visit and I look forward to returning to try something different.
I have been a regular patron of The Majestic Grille since it opened. I have pretty much memorized the menu. As a Sunday matinee season ticket holder for the Orpheum, we always have brunch here before the show. The menu really needs to be updated, as it has become very boring. Please consider offering a lunch menu as well as the same old brunch items. Perhaps you could offer an entree with a protein, a vegetable, and a starch as a special of the day. I'm always surprised when our server tells us the vegetable of the day @ brunch, but there is not an entree to go with it. Also, in cold weather, chili should be available every day. Baked potato soup would be another good option. Tomato basil soup is the only soup ever available on Sunday, which is disappointing. The food and the service is always good here, but it's time to refresh and update the menu for Sunday brunch to be as good as the lunch and dinner menus. At least consider offering a entree special, another soup option, or a fish or pasta offering for the Sunday mid-day meal.
The atmosphere at the Majestic Grille was amazing! We were seated in a perfect size 2-person booth right in front of the projector where Roman Holiday was playing! The dinner was candle lit which made it even more romantic. We got the burger and grilled cheese. They gave us so much food and it was quite tasty! We will definitely be trying it again.
We had a 5:30 reservation before a 7:30 show at the Orpheum. At 6:50 our food had just arrived to the table. Luckily we had the foresight to order an appetizer, so we weren't starving, but I didn't enjoy rushing through the main course to make it to our show on time. We had ordered from the special menu set up for theater goers and I had mentioned that we would be attending a show, so the server was aware that we were on a schedule. The manager did come over to the table to deliver our entree and apologized for the delay. He also gave us a complimentary tray of deserts.
I Have Dined At The Majestic Grille On Several Occasions....& I Can Truly Tell You That It Is A Very Pleasant & Different Experience Each Time I Visit.....I Have Given The Restaurant A Nickname.......Which Is...."THE MAGNET"...I Have Had Opportunities To Dine @ Other Restaurants In The Area,,,,But Once The Decision Is Made....."Majestic Grille"."THE MAGNET" Takes Top Honors....So There We Have It.........MAJESTIC GRILLE........YOU GUYS STILL ROCK......Be Blessed !!!
A casual mention that my wife and I were celebrating our 30th anniversary prompted the restaurant to serve us a complimentary glass of champagne. This extra attention to ensuring our dining experience was special was appreciated. The wait staff was just as attentive.
We eat at the Majestic about once a month and also before any Orpheum show, concert or movie. It has long been one of our favorite places in Memphis. The food is always excellent, the ambiance is very nice and the service is usually good. This past Saturday before Lion King once of us had the pre-show special (salad, trout, veggie and mousse) and I had the tomato and basil flatbread. Both were really good. The service was prompt and courteous. Kudos to the Majestic and the Reillys for creating and maintaining such a wonderful and consistently good restaurant. We are definitely spoiled!
I took my daughter for a pre-theater dinner. Majestic Grill did not disappoint. The cocktail was splendid. Sausage and pepperoni flatbread was perfect and the filet au Poivre, accompanied by a bold Zinfandel off the well-chosen wine list, was perfection. Our server, Jeremy, was on the spot. My dsighter's take on her first Girls Night Out... "Mama, we must do this again!"
I made reservations several weeks in advance but our seating was up stairs and there were open tables on the main floor. Our waiter was nice enough but he used his memory for our orders and that was the beginning of the problem. The drink order was incomplete and it took more than awhile to get the rest of the order and then he delivered the unsweetened drinks with no sweetners, which we had to ask for several times before delivered to the table. We never had salt & Pepper provided with the meal nor did we get it after it was requested. Our drinks were depleted and even though our waiter was at the next table he never took notice and this was only resolved when we flagged him down. We were with another couple and they had (2) beers and ordered extra deserts, which of course was not on their check but mine. We had 5:30 reservations in order to make a 7:30 show and just paid the bill as it was because by then it was after 7PM.
We had a pre-Tiger basketball game dinner. It was also opening night for The Lion King at the Orpheum. The Majestic Grille was well prepared for both audiences. The hostess was great to help insure that we had a table that was easy to navigate for my 94 year old Mom, who uses a walker.
The food was great and prompt and our server was very attentive. In and out was easy, even as the crowd had grown. Overall, great experience.
This was our second time to eat here and we absolutely love it. The food is exquisite. The service is great and they're all extremely friendly. The restaurant ambience is wonderful. Overall, it's a great experience and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique dining experience.
First I have to say that my reservation on Open Table began with 4 ppl for brunch then quickly turned into 6 and about a half hour before it was 8 with a high chair. Lane handled all the changes very well and we felt welcomed and accommodated whereas other restaurants have actually left us feeling like we're imposing and abnormal to have such shifting numbers (we have good reasons- all having to do with our jobs). Majestic did an awesome job though and I thank Palmer (maybe Michael?) for handling all of our 45 drink orders and indecisions and repeating of specials. The food was amazing and $15 for bottle service Mimosa's was a steal! I have to recommend the Frittata and the Pancakes because I thoroughly enjoyed both, our friends had the smoked salmon hash and they loved it as well. We normally go to Midtown for Brunch but we all live downtown, and this is way more convenient. Diner's tip: We usually park over by Gus's and walk the block to Majestic since it's not too far and there's free street parking there on the weekends. AND definitely ask for Palmer!
