Rouge Ratings and Reviews
NOT A VERY GOOD SPOT, IN A LOW INCOME PART OF SOUTH BEACH AND IS RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO A SMOKE SHOP FULL OF YOUNG PUNKS SMOKING OUTSIDE ON THE SIDE WALK. HAD TO WALK IN WITH MY WIFE WHOM WAS NICELY DRESSED AND PASS BY A BUNCH OF SMOKERS ON SKATEBOARDS. THIS PLACE IS NOT A ROMANTIC PLACE FOR COUPLES, BIG MISTAKE TO GO THERE. ALSO NO VALET PARKING AND HAD TO GO TO A PUBLIC PARKING LOT THREE BLOCKS AWAY, NOT A GOOD WAY TO START THE NIGHT FOR MY WIFE WHO WAS WEARING HIGH HEELS. ANYWAY FOOD WAS SOSO FOR A FRENCH CUISINE BUT NOT WORTH THE DRIVE OR MONEY.
The good: Rouge's lovely garden-like setting and well-chosen background music make this a really charming place. The food is very good and the service is good, albeit occasionally a little patronizing. We had a lovely evening.
The less good: The food -- and we are talking moderate portions -- is almost laughably overpriced. We have had dinners at Rouge in past years and the prices were more reasonable. The menu has been revamped, I think, and the selection is interesting, but the appetizers, in particular, are far too expensive for their size and the main courses, also expensive, do not include any side dishes. We rated the value as "Fair" but that may be a generous assessment.
Beautiful ambiance and a nice manager but that's where it ends. Food was ok and service was just minimal. Way over priced for the 5 course Valentine's day fixed menu that was poped on me a week before Valentine's Day. So no chance to find another place. It's a beautiful place. If the owner dropes his price and takes away the 20% service charge he will get a lot more regulars. Maybe I'll come back and try him out again.
Went for lunch at Rouge and loved it. . .the restaurant, the waiter AND the food. Heard about their Casablanca nite and asked two couples to join in a few weeks later. The movie, my favorite, was showing on their
large screen TV and live music was playing. . .but before we ordered, we decided that the music, although lovely, interfered with our conversation, so, the staff lead us to the gorgeous
garden outside and didn't make a fuss at all. The food, once again, was great and everyone
had a memorable evening. All said they'd come back again.
Food was OK, desert apple tart came burned... we complained but we heard sorry and that "just one side/edge was burned" as I wanted to have taste in my apple tart
Wouldnt recommend the place as it didnt blow my mind
I know of better places to eat for the same price without automatically adding 20% service charge
Incredible food. We ordered all 3 courses and a repeat on the couvert (the bread is that good)! Everything was simply divine. The goat cheese pizzette, soufflé, risotto and entrecôte were cooked to perfection.
The decor is very nice and interesting and the atmosphere extremely pleasant.
The owner Nabile and the staff were very attentive and friendly.
Can't ask for better service!
Excellent for lunch if not too much food. Had the escargot appetizer then the tagine of lamb, the lamb shank and the deer with puff pastry. All delicious! Want to go back for jazz and classical music nights. We talked to the owner/chef who told us he wants to have music every night. That would be great!
Our reservation was a little early but the place was empty when we arrived. That worried me a little but it turned out to be fantastic. The food was delicious, service was good and the prices weren't too bad (for Miami). By the time we left there were a few others there. I hope it picks up with the season. I would like to go back.
The decor and ambience at Rouge are excellent. The very limited menu is very good but challenging for a diner with lactose intolerance issues. The restaurant does not make any alterations to its food which was problematic for me. Many dishes are cream based or made with butter.
Had wonderful dinner at Rouge recently for my wife's birthday. Was looking for romantic spot and Rouge did not disapoint. Service was attentive. Owner is very hands on in the kitchen and on the floor. Menu has some very interesting dishes including dates wrapped in bacon and a cheese soufle that were both very well executed. The fish soup was good, but a bit strong for our taste and they graciously swapped it for an alterative. I had asked them to prepare a dessert for my wife,s birthday. It was a Gran Marina mousse that was fabulous. The power went out in the area for about an hour. They were very attentive, accomidating and were able to execute meal anyway.
Great food, ambiance, and service! The only frustration was the ability to find a parking space... although I have to say that when my wife went inside to tell them we might be late for our reservation because we were looking for parking, the owner himself came out and assisted us to find an adequate parking. Great experience overall!!! Definitely will recommend it to friends and family!
This has long been our favorite restaurant in Florida and the Southeast. We hadn't been there for a while so we're delighted even more than ever with the new dishes, additions to the decor, and more great live music than ever. The tajines are excellent; my new favorite are the Giant Shrimp in a scrumptious curry. Rouge stays at the top of our list here and for all time.
Cozy and lovely french restaurant. Has a speak-easy vibe to it like from the 20s. The food is up there on the price range but worth it, the ambiance is lovely. Great for anniversaries and birthdays! The servers were all so helpful and patient and everything about this place was great! I highly recommend!
This had been a neighborhood gem, but last night's experience was poor for everyone in our group of 4. First, if you had any dietary restrictions, then FORGET IT. No substitutions -- even to change carbs to veggies. Our waiter stated they have NO vegetables. Seriously? There were veggies in the steamed fish, but he told us it's already composed and ready to cook. Everything we asked to modify was already sitting in the frig ready to cook. Extremely disappointing. Also, the temperature was warm in the room, yet the other waitress told us they keep the back door open and it makes the restaurant warm. Duh! Close the back door. They would not accommodate.
Related to food quality, the steak in the Steak et Frites had those gross, stringy muscle things. Not great. Two had Branzino en Papillote, which lacked flavor. My Wild Boar Tenderloin Served with potato gratin and Shallots was good except I couldn't eat the potatoes -- don't forget they have NO VEGGIES. The $19 Duck Prosciutto, Frisée and Grapefruit Salad was not at all like the photo on their web site. 3 slices of fatty duck, 4 grapefruit wedges & lots of flavorless frise. Not worth half the price. The $19 Salade de Chou Frisé Frite et Poulpes was one of the better dishes.
Related to the wine list, they have 3 white wines and all uninspiring.
We had the courtyard to our selves due to the rain but that also meant lack of service. We ordered a bottle of wine from the bar an appetizer and two dinners. My lamb shank was great and the wild Boar was fantastic. A dinner for two with a bottle of wine and small appetizer is a lot too much for $180. Chose the least bottle of wine. Bill came including a 20% tip. Didn't expect the price to be that much. Might try again with a group if they don't auto grat. Especially for locals.
Exotic , tasty & sad looking !
Waiter bored to death & not well informed about the day's menu .
Lunch menu priced too high for a lunch with friends , specially in an area of town considered not very eclectic ! perhaps reason why the restaurant was empty at 12:45pm and only two more tables arrived much later.
Food was not good and SO expensive. I had the lamb shank and was disappointed and the the soufflé and it was terrible. Then there was a 20% added service charge added to our bill and we were only a party of 2 so I was shocked to see that in addition to a request for tip on the bill. The music was great--but the service and food were terrible!
Tris restaurant had very good reviews but I dont know how. The ambiance and decor are beautiful. Thats it. The food was ok nothing special or spectacular and very expensive not worth it. The wine was brought room temperature when it was supposedly to be cold. They just brought an ice bucket ob the 3rd bottle. I wouldn't go back.
Delicious food, great coffee. Wine is offered. Outdoor seating available. The lamb shank is tender and seasoned deliciously but please offer a baked potato with it. Four little skinny carrots is visually appealing and delicious but not satisfying enough without the potato. The lamb shank is enough meat but no carbs is offered with it. Go for the ambiance, music...
Anastasia sings beautifully... Cotton Club.
Very romantic. Pretty laid back and attentive staff.
The check has a service charge ... I don't expect that! That's about twenty percent of the check. Yet there is a blank space for you to list the "tips".
I was puzzled and asked what the service charge was for. The owner stated "tips". So naturally I did not add any additional tips.
A cover charge should be up front. Tips are at my discretion based on service rendered. A service charge for dining out is not expected or the norm. As long as I'm charged a service charge, I'm not inclined to add additional "tips". That said, I dine there again. Love the ambiance and music.
