Pikayo Ratings and Reviews
It was our first anniversary so we decided to splurge. Pikayo was a great choice! The service was great, kind of slow but I think that was part of the style for you to sit and savor. The swordfish was amazing, the boar dumplings were pretty unique (loved the tamarind sauce). my steak was delicious as well. nice view of the ocean, interesting menu. don't expect to get out quickly or under $250 for two, but it's worth it if you have the time or if you want something special!
José and all the staff members who served us tonight were attentive, knowledgeable of the menu, pleasant and just absolutely amazing. Will definitely dine at Pikayo again. It's also the perfect restaurant for a romantic dinner or to celebrate a special occasion.
The food was creative and delicious! We began with the octopus & fois gras as our appetizer, followed by the sword fish and the shrimp for dinner, our dessert chocolate soufflé!!! The service was friendly & attentive. Good selection of wines.
Looking forward to our next visit.
Just for starters, the staff is tremendous. Friendly, courteous and professional, and very knowledgeable about all items on the menu and at the bar. My Wife and I were on our honeymoon, not trying to spend a ton of money as we are about to move out of the country, but we decided we needed a fancy night out. We love eating local cuisine wherever we go, and Pikayo fit that to a 'T'. Sure you can and will find places in the San Juan area for cheaper, but the quality and the ambiance at Pikayo was well beyond worth it. I feel terrible for not recalling our waiter's name (we were there end of March), but he had a great sense of humor, very responsive, extremely friendly, and made sure we were taken care of the entire night.
And the bourbon old-fashioned.... Well, I wish we had a thumbs emoji in the review box. I would post about 12 of them. So I'll just say Phenomenal. The Swordfish was undoubtedly the best I have ever had. Cooked to perfection.
I went with family to celebrate my 50th birthday. They give us a table by the window with a gorgeous view of the ocean. Everything was fantastic. It's a beautifully crafted menu, and the flavors and presentations were creative and contemporary. One daughter had the traditional steak and onions with shoestring fries, and it was prepared perfectly. Three of us had different fish entrees, and they were all fantastic. I had three hors d'oeuvre, including and mushroom risotto that was absolutely to die for. The only thing I didn't love was the empanadillos, mostly because the truffle tomato sauce was very sweet. We had both types of soufflé for dessert (chocolate and cheese/guava), and they were amazing. Highly recommend!
Amazing experience!!! Wilo Benet, Pikayo's chef and the author of a great cookbook came out to greet me and gave me a signed new copy of his cookbook because I told him that mine was in tatters from all the use. The food was delicious- especially the South American Sea Bass.
