Perry's Steakhouse & Grille - San Antonio Ratings and Reviews
We had calamari appetizer, riveted cooked to medium rare perfection, baked potatoes not baked hours ahead of time & a dessert prepared tableside. Perry's wine list is extensive and excellent so a very nice bottle of Pinot noir accompanied the meal. Not the restaurant's fault but after we two were seated a party of eight including 3 children under 3 years of age was seated nearby. As is the parenting norm these days, both sets of parents thought it perfectly acceptable for all the kids to scream as much as they wished. It was quite obvious that this bothered guests at at least 10 nearby tables and the waitstaff as well. The good news for Perry's is that they were able to turn those tables much faster than they would have otherwise because folks couldn't wait to get their checks and escape on a nice Friday night.
Pecan crusted red snapper was great. Bone in 20oz cowboy ribeye was brought out rare. I ordered it medium. They brought another out the same same and they took it back and brought it out well done. The wedge salad was brought out with the core still intact and was difficult to cut. The server took it back and one of the managers brought out another and he saw as I tried to cut into this smaller wedge salad the core was in this one too. I cut my losses and asked my waitress to
forget about it and take it off my bill. But the staff was great.
Stay away from the French onion Soup. They pour a ton of sugar into it. I thought the first time a few months ago was a fluke so I ordered it again last night. So sweet that I sent it back. I love French Onion Soup and Perry's does not have good French Onion Soup.
The 8-oz Filet and the regular Ribeye were outstanding! The Cowboy Ribeye, not so much. Not only is it $8 more but they fry it instead of flame broiling it. Yuck. Tough crust. If you like a steak fried in a pan, get the more expensive bone-in cowboy versions. If you just want a really good traditionally grilled steak, get the regular versions.
The Pork Chop was incredible as always! The service, as always, was exceptional. It's still one of my favorite steakhouses, I've just learned not to order the fried steaks.
The food was good but the nats flying around our food totally ruined the experience. My wife wouldn't even finish her food because she was grossed out. I enjoyed my steak but agreed the multiple nats flying around will deter us from any future visits anytime soon.
Wonderful dining experience across the board. Received a confirmation call for my reservation the day before, was sat at our table immediately after announcing our arrival. Greeted almost immediately with a very knowledgeable and professional server named Matt! He made great suggestions, guided us through several menu and drink selections. Checked back on us after every course was served. Chatted us up, joked with us, addressed us by name.......lets just say he was superb at what he did! Made the dining experience stupendous! Great way to celebrate a great mother! We will definitely be returning.
We expected better service from this restaurant having heard it was an exceptional steakhouse. Drinks took time to reach the table and waiter was not as attentive as he should have. Food was delicious as were the desserts. Overall, good restaurant for special occasions just hope you have attentive waiter/waitress.
Since I'm always on the lookout for quality dinning at reasonable costs, Perry's lunch portion special Pork Chop is always on my radar when doing lunch with new friends or clients. The service is always good and the Friday special is delicious. One of the best finds on the northwest area of San Antonio
Service was not quite as good as on previous occasions. We waited 10 to 15 minutes for a waiter after we were seated. After that, however, service was as attentive as always. Everyone wished my husband "happy birthday," and we were comped a delicious dessert trio. The food was incredible, especially the Caesar salad and the prime ribeye. Another stand out was the calamari appetizer.
