Napa River Grill Ratings and Reviews
This was our first time eating at Napa for brunch after enjoying several dinners. We were displeased to find out it was a buffet after we sat down. The buffet, while offering a wide variety of breakfast foods, was not well stocked and the quality wasn't what you would think from Napa River Grill based off of dinner experiences.
We went on a Saturday and as it happens it was the Saturday before Valentines Day which was not our intent, we were just going out to eat. As is turns out, they had a limited dinner menu which I did not think was a great selection of favorites. I wish we had been warned of the limited menu.
Napa River is a great little spot, kind of tucked away. Hostess wasn't the friendliest, but our waiter made up for it. I ordered salmon and my dining partner ordered tilefish (special), and we both enjoyed. We ordered the white cranberry tart and smores creme brûlée - both were delicious. The atmosphere is pretty quiet and calm.
What a nice meal. We had a group getting together for a special evening. Napa was very helpful with the reservations. Our server was attentive but not disruptive. The menu is excellent and offered choices for all. From a nice burger for the young ones to a wonderful salmon dish. Their wine selection is nice also.
Great lunch. We sat at a table in the bar and it was nice and quiet. The cornbread was a treat. I had the shrimp and grits which had a Creole flair. My guest ordered the hot brown and said it was delicious. It was served in its own little cast iron skillet. I wanted to take it home with me (but I didn't!)
We chose Napa River at the spur of the moment and we're lucky to get a table. We both had great salads, mine was the spinach salad and my wife had the house. We both decided on the salmon and it was excellent as well. Service was polite and efficient and our server guided us to gluten free options with confidence.
Very nice evening. But....Table for five was in busy area- first by front door where lots of traffic and bright lights took away from ambience. Dimming lights and some kind of screen to block waiters from kitchen and guests going to bathroom and from private dining room would have helped if you choose to sit people in this space. Also the tables pushed together do not accommodate well with gaps in back cushions. Service was great and good food. Would come back only for a different table.
One of the Better Restaurant in a great Foodie Town!THis is a fine local 4 star restaurant in a town that is know for great restaurants. We like it for special occasions. Their fish specials are great. THey do wonders with Salmon Grouper and Mai Tai dishes.
Start with their tomato soup in a pie shell, get their unique Ceasar salad and go for the fish. Good wine list!
We had a great meal and enjoyed it very much. One strange thing happened. The waiter called and asked if something was wrong with our dining experience because one person only left a dollar tip. (The person did get sidetracked in conversation and meant to leave 10 tip.) The person went back and corrected it. I was just surprised at the phone call- it was uncomfortable and then I had to ask the person -it was awkward. It was also unprofessional to ask about someone in my party of 6-and why they only tipped one dollar..😳😬
We have dined at Napa River Grill many times but were very disappointed with this experience. Our cocktails were very good, but the meal itself was not to our liking. I had the duck special, and the meat was difficult to cut. The sweet potato gnocchi was tough and chewy, as though it was undercooked. My daughter ordered a filet, and we both questioned the cut of meat. It certainly did not appear to be a filet. We would have asked our server about it but after our food was brought to the table he never reappeared to check on us. I had wanted to order a glass of wine after the food arrived but the next time we saw him we were ready for the check. Probably won't be back, even though we love the location and ambience.
Out of 7 women five of us ordered the Caesar with chicken because the menu didnt seem to have anything that appealed to us. The calamari is phenomenal. The ham and pimento is really good but not fond of the presentation or the crackers. We were all huge fans of Napa but the menu change over the past several years has alienated us.
We tried this past week hoping again and even the Caesar isn't as good as it used to be.
I love the restaurant and location just not the menu!
My sister recently visited from Austin, TX. We chose Napa River because we wanted a classy and convenient spot to have a drink and a great meal. We were absolutely impressed with the amazing service, delicious wine, and mouth watering steak. While the atmosphere was relaxing and casual, we left feeling like we had splurged and indulged ourselves. The entire experience was wonderful and we will definitely be back!
We were celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary and really enjoyed the Sunday brunch. I really enjoyed the hot brown and broccoli casserole. I would prefer the gravy without sage and thyme and have it taste more like "southern style" gravy. Other than that, everything was delightful! We will definitely eat there again.
Food was uninspired and overpriced. We had a 7 pm reservation on a Saturday night. We were one of only three tables in the whole restaurant- the place is a ghost town. Of the three tables, one had a baby in a high chair and the other consisted of four octogenarians. If you are looking for good food or a hip vibe, this place is not it. Very disappointed as I have heard such great things. We will not go back.
THE FOOD WAS GOOD BUT HAD TO REALLY SEARCH THE MENU ,, THE PRICES ARE EXCEPTIONALLY HIGH FOR THE CHOICES. THEY USED TO SERVE A VEAL DISH THAT WAS FABULOUS AND NOT OVER PRICED ...( MAYBE THAT IS WHY IT IS NO LONGER ON THE MENU).PROBABLY WILL CROSS NAPA OFF MY LIST,
OUR WAITRESS WAS FABULOUS AND HAD A SUPER PERSONALITY
